Edey and Purdue are undefeated against ranked teams and have played a far tougher schedule throughout this season than UConn, will be interesting to see if that experience helps Purdue against a tough UConn team.

I played the 4 and 5 in HS and in leagues after college. Was 6-4 if generous but had a 40 inch vertical so I was jumping center and stuck at forward. We were taught hands at your side until the player clears or you roll to turn to the ball, or either the movement of the arms outward or the movement of the feet laterally was a moving pick. Since we ran our offense through the pick and roll we had to be careful, and this was when defender's could still hand check. That was a moving screen or pick in the Uconn Iow game IMO. No question.

Kind of a collective amnesia about the Bama Uconn game last night, huh? That game was close, and within a score or two until the final 2 or 3 minutes. In fact, Uconn would not have covered unless they jacked up that 3 when Bama had already begun walking off the court. UConn did not win "easily." They earned that win and pulled away in the final minutes thanks mostly to Kling Kong. The Purdue-NC State game was never really close in the second half, at one point Purdue was up by 20 or more and they basically took their foot off the gas late and NC State got within 13. There was also a concerted effort to play defense by both teams in the first game. Uconn was the only team getting stops late in their game. In fact, UConn has only played one decent defense in their NCAA run (San Diego State), and they have no offense outside of Jaylee. The rest have been bottom tier defenses according to KenPom. So it appears UConn will finally face a team this tourney in the top 20 offense and defense. Now they need to keep Clingan on the court more than 23 minutes or Edey will score at will.
UConn won easily watch the game again, the closet recently anyone has come is an excellent offensive St John's at home, and St John's lost by 5!
they won easily; they were up 4 at half after Bama shot 7/9 3 pointers in the first half... even by finish they were 47% from 3 and uconn still won

If the refs had called the fouls on the digs Burns and Middlebrook would have been gone in minutes. Purdue dominated inside. The rebounds were ultimately the determining factor.
NCS has a great offense but it goes mainly thru Burns. Burns was neutralized by the Purdue big-man so it was a valiant effort for NCS to stay in the game as long as they did and that was only due to some guy named Braedon who decided not to show up for the game.
I think Zach Edey is gonna have a great game but it's not gonna be enough even if Braden Smith shows up UConn will a find a way to win which they have been doing all season.
Gillis's points total is at 5.5, so Vegas anticipates UConn shutting down some of Purdue's role players. Not looking good

This Uconn team could play with any team over the last 30 years and ill tell you why. The offense they run is the best halfcourt offense ive seen in my 35 years of cbb. The defense is not top tier lockdown but its good enough to trouble anyone. The main thing is Hurley can flat out coach.
UConn defeated the #2 offense in term of efficiency ( ILLINOIS ) and the #1 offense in term of PPG ( ALABAMA ) by 25 & 14 Points despite giving up 49% 3s to ALABAMA who is one of the top 5 best 3 point shooting teams in NCAA. that means uconn has many reasons to score not only inside the paint but also outside depending on their opponent...

The irony in Reece’s comment is that UConn beat Duke / Kentucky in both the the final four and natty.
I don't understand the narrative by the national media that UConn is the most dominant team. If you compare Purdue and UConn's regular season and conference tournament resume it is clear which team is the most dominant. Purdue was 9-1 against teams ranked in the final AP poll. UConn was 6-2 and you should probably throw out the last two wins against Marquette without Tyler Colek. Does anybody seriously think UConn would be sitting with only three losses if they played Purdue, Houston or Alabama's schedule? You would think such a "dominant" team would play a more challenging schedule.

Purdue wasn't in a tie game with 12 to go in their final four matchup. Purdue hung 92 on Alabama on a neutral court earlier this year. I wouldn't get to excited about that win. Alabama plays no defense.
Purdue and the Iowa Lady Hawkeyes are America's darlings. I'm going to be furious if at least one of them doesn't win. Braden Smith needs to show up; it can't be all Edey.

Purdue just scored their lowest points,63, all season. Edey had lowest FTA on the season. Just shows you how refs are incompetent, inconsistent, and are too much if a major factor in game outcomes.
Not so sure how dominant Edey is going to be in this game. Incredibly clumsy and won’t have a half foot height advantage like he’s used to. UConn overall seems faster and more efficient. That’s why they play the games though.

This will be a great game and will be decided by less than 5 pts. In the end, it comes down to turnovers. If Purdue wins the turnover battle they win...

Hurley is looking at the same, they're going to put pressure on Braden tomorrow. Purdue guards need to bring the ball up faster and give Purdue's set offense more time to work the inside out. NC State showed Purdue's weak link on offense and Braden needs to patch that up in 2 days. Purdue can win but Edey will need to carry them and dominate Klingan inside get him into foul trouble opening up the inside for some forward and mid-range play. Purdue's guard play needs to rely on Edey's kickouts, if Edey can kickout properly, Purdue's 3's can rain on UCONN all day and win this game. Kalkbrenner and Creighton beat UCONN and Edey is better than Kalk and Purude's kickouts are and can be better they're built to play like this.

The key is whether the refs allow Clingan to defend Edey. They can call 3 ticky-tack fouls on Clingan in the first 10 minutes, and then Purdue will have a great chance to win. If that doesn't happen, it could be a fairly easy win for the Huskies.

Do you wanna know the difference between letting a guard “get his” and doing the same for a low post player? A guard will miss jump shots, but it’s really hard to miss a dunk. Edey would put up 50 vs that game plan.

Donovan is a better defender than Zach. Zach is a better offensive player than Donovan.
Yes this is true but also consider their respective team's situations. UCONN doesn't run their entire offense off Klingan whereas Purdue runs all of it thru Edey. Therefore if Edey were ever in foul trouble and risks sitting, Purdue loses its mojo. Given this, Edey is still a great paint defender he just isn't going to be as aggressive given his team's situation as he needs to play literally the entire game.
