Jennis sometimes if you put the cake in the fridge, when you bring it out to room temperature the cake will sweat and this what cause the fondant to bleed into the buttercream. But so far i never have issues with this even after refrigeration. It could also depend on the fondant brand you are using. Hope this helps!
