  • There are a lot of UA-cam videos about coupling trucks and trailers, but none of them mention how important it is to check the trailer before hooking up. Is it in working condition and clean inside, empty or loaded, depending on the situation? Does it have a safety sticker that is not expired and matches the papers in the tube? Is the license plate the same as in the documents? So, be professional and drive safely!

To all viewers: it's only a coupling during picking up the trailer, but NOT A FULL INSPECTION of the trailer, as it is supposed to be in good shape and taken care of by the owner. Of course, you can make an inspection if you have time. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate what is necessary to do if you are going to hook up the trailer at the yard.

No wonder so many crappy drivers come out of school, I guess you don’t care if you’re axle hubs have grease or you don’t have loose and rusty lug nuts and you never visually inspected your trailer tires for defects nor did you actually thumb all trailer tires you sir should be ashamed and I would have failed you on your road test right there

Don’t you worry, this is just the coupling portion and not a full inspection. There are many more things to check on the truck and trailer and these are being taught to students. When going for a road test in Manitoba the inspection process has been broken down into individual segments for each element in the National Safety Code. This is a demonstration on how the coupling procedure can look while you are working as opposed to doing a road test. Maybe we can do the tire inspections in the next video…. Have a great day!
