@David Mander the sound before treatment is much more "damn ugly" than the visual of post-treatment. if he regularly made videos with sound quality of the prior, people would likely change to another related post on the right before the video got halfway through.

Remember Foam like this will be great for upper midrange and high frequencies but it will not help with Bass! (yes they sell this foam as a bass trap but below 250Hz they are ineffective). Make sure to build some Bass Traps from 703 Owens Corning compressed fiberglass. Mount it on the same plastic if you want to make it easy to remove like you did before. Check out Ethan Winer's videos where he does some scientific comparison between materials and how to apply them in a common home room. Great work and nice setup!

I agree. There will still be standing waves for the lower frequencies which won’t be obvious in the sound demo because the sources were voice. It definitely made a difference but won’t stop the large wavelengths from continuing to decay, and you’ll hear noticeably different amplitudes of low frequencies at different locations within the room.
I think it's great that you mentioned at the early stages of your video that the foams need to be left alone to expand. Dummy me would have taken the foams out of the package. Saw that the foams were, 'cheesy' or 'not as advertised' and sought to send them back. Lol. No one ever bothers to mention on any video that you need to allow the foams time to rest and expand. Kudos to you for pointing that out.
I've been browsing Amazon for some sound proof panels and I'm so happy that I found your video. I'm definitely keeping this company in mind when it comes to sound-proofing my room!
Please understand that this is not sound-proofing anything in any way, shape or form. Acoustic foam does nothing but reduce high frequency flutter echoes. If you want to treat a listening room you should at the very least be using broadband diffusor panels and bass traps. Using foam products like this is going to sound like it helps but in actuality, it's like turning down the high end of your system and in many cases, making mid-range issues more of a pronounced.

What measurements are these exact bro ? There’s no more in stock on amazon so I went to the actual sound assured website but idk which size are the ones that you linked.
I had some boxes left over. Took em apart and the cardboard was thin enough to run a thumbtack through it and pin it on the walls. used a hot glue gun to attach the foam panels to the cardboard and we're all set.

Whatever, and after the sound tests I was blown away. Furniture also makes a big difference. Put in a cheap sofa in there, and you reduce more sound. But thanks for the tutorial. I been struggling with reverb. I been recording with a blanket over my head and it was honestly so hot under there. Lol. This is gonna make my vocals sound awresome. My $150 mic which has a higher rating than the Blue Yeti USB mic (Samsun G-Track Pro is what I have) is going to make my vocals so dry which will be perfect for mixing. Like any mic is going to sound cheap aF if the room isn't treated, and I been like "Oh, maybe glue carpet to the walls" I thought foam was gonna suck but it seems like they work.
Great soundtrack, kept my drive home bumping. Huge difference with the treatment, just hope you did those voice tests while Elise was away. Looks good too. If you still have the cheap stuff without being able to return it consider using it in your office.

FYI You can utilize a noise gate to try and prevent the lower db value echo's from the room from getting into the mix. I would also implement it with a gentle knee because if it is too harsh it will gate on spoken word. This is a fine line to walk because, it may result spoken word having its' tail cut off so to speak, but I recommend this for people that can not afford acoustic treatment. I have used this in a Biamp DSP and have seen tremendous improvements as a result.
Hey man, not trying to be a jerk. Just some constructive criticism. A wall of sound might be nice for music because it makes a "sound stage" like at a concert, but movies are usually more engaging if there is surround sound and you have proper sub placement. Since every room is different, you usually want separate subs so they can be moved around the room until you find the sweet spot for them to live just like in a car. Sometimes it's up front, sometimes it's behind you. Heck, sometimes it's in the middle of the room depending on the room. With my limited (5 or 6 sub boxes made) experience building subs for cars, just rotating a box can completely change the way it sounds or performs. Either way, awesome stuff on the foam panels. You might even want to get some extra for the garage when you are using tools so it's a bit quieter. (might make the neighbors or lady happier)
