Prince mastered all genres of music. He wasn't a one trick pony and I said it nearly 30 years ago that he was the best ever on the guitar because of his ability to play any style of music he wanted. He had no equal.
@@latebloomer2937 Dude, I've seen your troll ass commenting on a lot of different Prince videos. I think you know he's great, otherwise why do you keep listening to obscure Prince music for over a year now. Jimi may be the pioneer, doesn't mean he will never have an equal, and Prince is his equal. Doesn't matter what you think. Peace ✌
clearly 3 people dint know a insane guitar player when they hear one. Prince is so underrated when it came to playing and this is a Prime example as to why he shouldn't be
Leanne Nelson, As long as Prince is recognized as one of the best guitar players ever by his Fans(Friends), that is all that matters. Hell with an awards.
Regardless of who he emulated, Prince could shred a guitsr. Unlike Hendrix & Santana, he could also play damn near any instrument he picked up. He deserves his props and respect as one of the greatest!!!
There shouldn’t be any question that he was a guitar god this is NASTY !!people always question his status only because he fit no genre and because he was good at EVERYTHING!! Playing instruments lyrics arranging dancing he was the full package but to not put him on top 10 objectively of the best is disrespectful to all musicians I’m just waiting for those that aren’t enlightened to catch up!!💜☔️🎶🕊️🎸🎸💜🎸
Hendrix was the Master. unlimited creativity. Prince is a king too... but he learned and was heavily influencef by Hendrix. There's much lessons Prince learned from Hendrix. #1. have your own style. #2. practice your ass off and become one with your instrument. #3. take unorthodox risks...play what you want and how you want without pressured into following the crowd. #4. make music that feels good not rubbish that can turn a dollar.
Prince obviously lived up to those 'lessons' anyway but that doesn't mean they were "learned from Hendrix" :/ do you really think that young Prince noticed that Jimi practiced a lot, so he thought to himself in a lightbulb moment "I might do that too because It seems to pay off for Hendrix." Just because something follows doesn't mean it was caused by what it follows.
John Arundell YES!!!! Itz oft dscussed, how hard Jimi practiced/how Jimi wuz seen everywhere, wit his guitar. So dis iz y it would resonate so deeply wit Prince. Princez dad, ALWAYZ stressed practice & hard work. & THUSLY....
Sorry 'prinsexed' but if you think Jimi did not show us the emotions guitars could evoke (!!!!!!!!) you obviously don't know his music very well at all :/ that comment is kind of embarrassing. There is more emotion in Little Wing - in less than 2:30 - than in most musicians entire careers. Angel, Star Spangled Banner, 1983, The Wind Cries Mary, and yes Machine Gun (which was recorded live) the list goes on and on. Bold As Love not emotional enough for you? Castles Made Of Sand ..
spot on +Da ha This is exactly who Prince was as an artist. it was always about the music for him not the money which is mainly why his music is so true because he put out what was in his heart at the time not what was the latest sounds so that it would sell. true genius
I've listen to both songs. Prince's " Habibi" and Jimi's " Machine Gun" and I have to say I like " Habibi" so much more. The same thing with the "Red House" song, I like Prince's version better. Either one of them had the greatest of voices but Prince new now to do a lot more with his then jimi. I'm sad there both gone, but I know there playing together were ever they our.

Ron Beck " To each there own". I prefer a lot more variety in guitar playing. Most people and maybe you're one of them haven't really heard prince playing the guitar the way he can. You had to be a regular concert-goer of Prince to realize that the songs that are put out on the CDs... the guitar is usually drowned out by the other instruments. In concert it's a whole nother thing. You do know that there were other great guitar players before Jimi Hendrix? So your right " DATZ ME"!!! Prince spoiled me for any other guitar player's. A man who can play the guitar while he's singing and dancing and looking fine is the one for me.... lucky, lucky me!!! ; )
Alright. Some say his position in the guitar world wasn't, IT! Some say his vocals wasn't, IT! Some say his piano 🎹 playing wasn't IT! Some say his drum playing, wasn't IT! Some say, his singing wasn't IT! Some say his arrangements wasn't, IT. I could go on, and on. Musicians understand. Yea, he got influences, but as a whole , he was IT. When we are all dead. The masses will name him the greatest! If they are objective enough.
ok better than HENDRIX man please Get The Fuck outta here with that Prince could damn sure play but he was no where near HENDRIX spoken like a true awestruck groupie oh and before Prince there was Shuggie Otis do your research before you start talking or typing

greg b jimi used an echo, a Leslie, multiple fuzzes, and a vibe, as well as an octave pedal and a tremolo pedal occasionally. I’m sure Hendrix would’ve loved pedals if they were as accessible as they are now.
Hendrix's main sound is a FuzzFace, Univibe, and Wah into his Marshall Head. I'm sure Prince didn't have all 12 pedals on at once too. He needs a lot of different Modulation and a few Distortions just to accomplish the wide array of tones in a single album. I'm willing to bet his rig was at least a compressor, 3 dirts, a delay and reverb, a chorus, flanger/phaser, wah, and a few other pedals. Just listening to the Purple Rain album I would've guessed that much

How can your taste in music be better than anyone else. Prince is by far the most talented singer , songwriter and performer there’s ever been. Ask Eric Clampton, Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, Elton John who’s the best. Your taste in music surely can’t be better than theirs. So stop your hating.
