back button not working on iphone

I have an iPhone 8Plus. It’s been cracked for a while with chunks missing from the screen but it’s been like this for about 2 years. It won’t let me press any back buttons mainly but I can’t do regular things like text multiple people at once or swipe to adjust things side ways. At one point it was doing things on its own extremely fast and opening or closing tabs. I can’t use certain letters on my keyboard sometimes either. I’m just confused and would like to know what’s probably causing this to happen all of the sudden.
