The deeper symbolism here could be many things (drugs, the mind vs body, the artist vs art, the destruction of physical media?), but on a purely literal level, it works so well with OPN's Again. Just like the album cover, sound is being pushed to its absolute structural limit - distorted and manipulated to the point of twisted, beautiful mutilation.
I'm pretty sure the key here is the symbol on the third CD. It's very reminiscent of a graphic depiction of an architecture of neural network. AI is one of the main themes of "Again".
@@MRL8770 he melts the blank CD with his sight, a representation of his tabula rasa, the new CD with the symbol is his new vision after burning the old blank template which is reflected back into his eyes, making him enlightened.
