I HOPE I DON'T SOUNDS LIKE I'M EXAGGERATING, BUT I MUST ADMIT, THIS IS A SUPERB EPISODE OF A TV'S SOAP OPERA KIND, THAT IS AHEAD OF ITS TIME WHEN IT WAS CREATED, they UNDERSTOOD THE DIMENSIONS OF PSYCHOLOGY OF ENTERTAINMENT EVERY WELL!
I love the scene between Carolyn and Professor Stokes as she is devouring the grapes he offers her. Both Barrett and Thayer David are fascinating to watch and here they are together
I thought that Professor Stokes committed a minor faux pas of sorts by NOT offering Carolyn some wine and cheese to have with those apparently delicious seedless grapes she was enjoying. By the way, it’s too bad that the DS set designers did not anticipate the technological breakthroughs of the 1990s by having Professor Stokes owning a state of the art Sony Trinitron television set with surround sound in his living room. (After being away for so long, Julia could have caught up with what was going on with Erica Kane and everyone else in Pine Valley on “All My Children.”) Similarly, it’s too bad that Dan Curtis or Sy Tomashoff, Dark Shadows’ Head Production Designer, did not anticipate or foresee the development of cell phones, which first appeared in 1973 in Japan. Of course, by 1995, cell phones were in great use throughout the US and the rest of the world. It would have been cool to have seen Barnabas and Julia reacting to seeing Professor Stokes, Carolyn and the unnamed Collinsport sheriff whipping out their cell phones to make an order for a pizza with all the toppings or an order of chicken lo mein and a side order of spare ribs from the local Italian or Chinese restaurant, respectively. Besides, Dan Curtis always disliked the fact that he could NOT use a telephone to have actors convey a message during Dark Shadows’ trips back to 1797 and 1840. (DC would be forced to have to pay another actor to verbally deliver a message to one of the principal DS actors during those two time trips.) Just think of the creative uses of a cell phone on DS and how much more money could have been saved with cell phones on the show!?!
God David Selby is so PRETTY- he is even pretty playing Uber Crazed & suicidal- what an impressive range he has- this episode shows just a window into that range… He’s a long way away from his earlier cynical-yet-charming interpretation
Barnabas & Julia met with Professor Stokes & insisted that Stokes would help them & he was willing to. Prof. Stokes was asking Carolyn if she remembered any information about Collinwood & their family members. When Barnabas & Julia went to the room where the old & ugly portrait of Quentin was, Quentin almost slashed it. But Barbabas stopped him. Then Quentin, Barnabas & Julia saw the ghost of David Collins briefly without a word and vanished. Collinwood is so SPOOKY! Quentin claims that he saw someone, but Barnabas tells him there's no one in there. Poor Quentin is so frightened & ran away.
Adam would be crying his heart out if he saw Stokes and Carolyn (his ONLY friends during the Frankenstein storyline) half-insane and middle-aged 7:01-7:23 Barnabas and Julia vs Quentin 1995 Quentin’s scream at 15:24 had me dying laughing 😂 Judging by how old Stokes looks in 1995, that’s how old Thayer David would’ve looked if he didn’t die so young The music that’s played whenever Carolyn is present is music to my ears
There has been some fan speculation that Adam accidentally wandered into the Parallel Time room in the East Wing of Collinwood and, unlike Barnabas and Dr. Hoffman, Adam was unable to make it back into “Real” Time. PS Maybe Adam hooked up with Buffie Harrington over there in PT?
WOAH, Seeing Q Collins balled up into a fetal position in fear was 😮hard to watch!😅😅 He’s my DS alpha male babe! Leading man archetype 💪🏾👻 #escapism #6footHottie 📺
When Sebastian Shaw drives Maggie to Windcliff (yet, once again), just before all Hell literally breaks out at Collinwood, no one knew then, that that would be the very last time we would ever see KLS on DS. A very sad day, indeed.
@@danbaranowski I thought that we WOULD see Maggie again as soon as DC ended that terrible PT 1840/41 story line and they got back to contemporary Collinwood with Barnabas, Maggie, Willie, Julia, et al, before the plug was pulled on DS in April of 1971.
@@kensellers4082 I wish the show kept going into the late 1970s because Jonathan Frid would’ve gone up against Bob Barker with The Price Is Right vs Dark Shadows. Bob and Jonathan were television rivals from 1967-1971 with Truth or Consequences vs Dark Shadows. Both men made their shows have cult fan followings (Bob with TPIR, Jonathan with DS)
Thayer David, an always magnificent character actor-so versatile.
David Selby is a damn good actor.

That's a great insight, Steve. Thank you.
I agree. No need to yell though.

I'm glad you enjoyed the grapes!

Good points all around, Dan. Thank you, as always, for your comments.

@@danbaranowski You've got it. We now have 37 episodes before we go to 1840.

I'd scream too if Judah Zachary was about to grab me.
The ghost haunting Collinwood is Gerard, right? ~Janet in Canada
I have a sudden craving for grapes! It is so rare to see food on the set... Carolyn just couldn't help herself!!! 😂🦇

Carolyn..seems to be agitated.
I LOVE this storyline. I wish it had been longer.
I hated it as a child lol. It confused me ...
Would have been interesting to have had Maggie and Willie, in the 1995 storyline.
As we would see later on, Maggie was transported to Windcliff and Willie was helping Barnabas with the I-Ching

@@kensellers4082 part of my love for Dark Shadows died when my favorite leading lady left the show 😭

Thayer David was among the cast members who could act.
