Layer upon layer of paint you know the military if it doesn't move you paint it.😂
Lol. So true 🤣
Dustin- don’t know if anyone made this comment but on an aircraft carrier the ride is pretty smooth,so things like surgery, dental work, and sleeping is where you wanna be.
I asked John about why the sleeping quarters were called berthing. He didn't know, so I had to check Uncle Google... "As said, berths can refer to the berthing area for small boats or yachts. These areas can offer sailors temporary protection and shelter. In the case of a berth on a yacht or boat, it’s a sleeping area that offers comfort, quiet, and safety for everyone."
Comfort my ass, lol. Thanks for checking it out! 😘
I’m not digging the click bait thumbnails
You took care of patients, not casualties, right? lol
Thosr tours were very cool. But those deserts looked amazing! Thanks guys!
We're definitely going to go back to see more and eat more of those deserts ! 😆
I went to Patriots point. I spent 8 hours there filming and reading everything 😂. My wife stayed back knowing how I am. I enjoyed it. 👍🏼
It's all so interesting- it sucks you in. Thanks for watching!
Where were you guys camping? How close to Charleston?
We were staying at a Thousand Trails in Yemessee
Hehehe Night vision Goggles, what is that. I was in RVN 1969-1971. And yes to Play Boy
😂
Playboys and cookies could get a little messy. ROFL Cookie Monster!!
😂🤣😂
Thanks for the guided tour, it was great. I have been on one aircraft carrier, and it was active.. (USS Eisenhower) She was docked getting supplies.
I took a load to her..the MP took me to the flight deck and that was it but boy oh boy...she was a monster.
With cookies on board...I wont have any issue getting Wendy to tour...the list is getting longer need a bigger Bucket 😊😊
🤣 There are several throughout the US. The Lexington is down in Corpus Christi, TX and the midway is in San Diego. They are all about the same but very impressive.
When my kid was in Boy Scouts, 20 years ago, we actually spent a weekend on the Yorktown. Really cool. a little spooky but it gave you a real sense of what it was like during WW II onboard the aircraft carrier. Next time you're in Charleston, go to Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island. Fort Moultrie was active from the Revolutionary through WW II. Fort Sumter is good but there's more to see at Moultrie and it doesn't require a boat ride. You reminded me it's been a while since we've been to Kaminskys.
We definitely want to check both forts out next time we're there. And, of course, another trip to Kaminskys 🤣
If you go back, definitely take the guided tour by carriage. Very informative.
Will do!
Next time you go, try to make time for the Hunley submarine and museum (Civil War era submarine).
We toured the USS Yorktown in 2008. It was so hot up on that flight deck that we were trying to stand in the shadow of the plane wings for a bit a respite from the sun.
Ok, thanks for the info- I'll look it up 😁
Where’s the milk? Lol thank you we will be definitely traveling there shortly
😂. There's so much to do there!
We love Charleston, our daughters live there…we are retiring this year and will move down from VA…thanks for the great video 👍
That is awesome - congrats 😁 Thanks for watching!
you were talking about the nets around the deck. My uncle was among the first crew on the USS Forresta on hot nights some men would sleep out on the nets to sleep cool
That type of history is so interesting.
And everything is painted to prevent corrosion. John says there isn't time to scrape off the old, you just paint over it!
Makes sense , thanks 😊
When I was in the Army we had a move out dentist set up that had a foot driven drill. I never heard of it every being used, TG, but we still loaded it.
We had them as well! Never had to use them either. They were for incase there is no power available - thank god we always had power, lol.
Great tour of the ship. Thanks for showing us.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Very cool ship. And you were cracking us up in this video! That’s crazy the cookie place gives the recipe for a bazillion cookies! - Safe travels! - Mike and Shelley
Ya never know when you might need to make 10,000 cookies, lol. Thanks for watching 😁
DAM YOU ARE THE BEST. This is funny . You are my favorite utubers. I have to meet you sometime.
Awe, thank you so much! Hope our paths cross someday! 😁
No sugar in the recipe?!?!? 😳🍪😜
I'm sure there is. They can't share all of the secrets.
Yes, Playboys were plentiful and sold at the PX's-BX's in Vietnam. I have pictures of the guys and me enjoying. I was in when the world was normal.
That's awesome. Thank you for your service also. 🇺🇸
@@WaywardWaggs ❤ you guys! And thank you for your service. I have pictures of my billeting in Nam and a friend in the military now saw it and laughed his butt off how those pinups would go over today. Did I send you pics? LOL!
👍🇺🇲
We had those same outhouses in 1987 during Operation Bright Star in Cairo Egypt. I’ve told my wife about them and now thanks to you, I can show her what I’ve been talking about all these years.👍🏼😎
Lol, glad we could give her a visual 😂
Hi Dustin and Leslie! Great video! Loved seeing the navy stuff boats and all. And army as well. Ya I wouldn’t like to be operated on in that room either. But you had to with what you had. Thank you for tour of Charleston. Some of it anyways. What was that berthing room you mentioned? Just curious! That cookie looked good but wow! That’s a lot of eggs and flour and all the chips. And that’s a huge cookie. It did look good! Thank you for such a great video stay safe and safe travels. See you soon!
Thanks Sherri. Those huge ships are amazing. They are like floating cities.
@@WaywardWaggs
I thinking that too! A floating city!
The USS Yorktown was an aircraft carrier not a battleship.
I corrected myself later in the video. 😬
@@WaywardWaggs sorry. I didn't finish watching that video.
Dustin, I hope no young folks watch this we would never have anyone join after listening to you! Charleston is a very cool town lots to see and do. Lots of great restaurants too!
Lol, ya, I would make a terrible recruiter! 🤣 I was a much better Drill Sargent 😁 we can't wait to go back - still lots to see.
@@WaywardWaggs we really enjoy following y’all, one of these days we’re going to join the part time rv life! Be safe out there.
Cookie connoisseur
Lol, that's right! 😂
We love love loved Charleston. We did not tour the Yorktown there ( did the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi and have mad respect for the service members that served on those). We did go to Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie when there Charleston . Downtown is a foodie town no doubt!!
We'll definitely do Sumter next time - it was to cool and windy the day we went. Yes, it's a foodies dream for sure, lol. Thanks for watching guys! 😊
Charleston is a cool city. When our oldest was in scouts we actually got to sleep on the Yorktown over night it was cool but not comfortable can't imagine having to live on there for months on end!
I don't know how anyone could sleep like that, lol. I guess like most things - you do it long enough you get used to it. Thanks for watching 😁
Such a cool tour of the ship. Thank you! You had me at pie!! YUM! Totally agree about Rainbow row. Charleston is one of our favorite places to visit.
We actually might go back later this year - there's still so much to see 😊
Cookie critic!! 🤣 Those outhouses were still in use when I was in basic at Ft. Leonard Wood.
New title - Leslie Waggoner, cookie critic 🤣. For real?! They were still using them? 😳
