@@jsciarri There is a pay dispute. The player wants more money. The team wants to pay less. And the full takeaway is that the player is only concerned about money. No consideration to the team “only being concerned about money?” I’ll never stop being baffled at the way people are conditioned to favor the ownership class, aka, the “richest of the rich.”
When it comes to Alonso, emotional Met fans should not only focus on the contract money issues and ignore the lack of productivity Alonso displayed the entire 2024 regular season! Yes, he hit 34HRs (one more than the team’s shortstop), not 40!! Lindor’s HRs were struck when it counted most (clutch) to take the lead or tie a game! Most of Alonso’s HRs were impressive moonshots, mostly hit when the team was already leading by 5-6 runs! He had 88 RBI and was only third on the team! He also led in one other category… Strikeouts! The frustrating at-bat we regularly watched him have, of course, was the outside corner, 2-strike, curveball, swing, and miss... again and again, often right after he looked at a fastball right down the middle on the previous pitch and didn't swing!... In the National League, Alonso is ranked behind 4 other 1st basemen… Freeman, Harper, Walker, and Olson! That doesn’t include guys in the American league! Alonso’s offensive productivity did not contribute greatly to the team’s success in making the playoffs. He’s been on a downspin the last 2 years… These are the numbers David Stearns is throwing at Boras when they discuss justifying his contract demands… You cannot win games if you have players with low batting averages or not being productive with RISP… I like Pete and I wish they could work something out and return, but I’m with management here when considering Pete’s (lack of) productivity on a contract and most certainly when you’re being asked to bid against yourself!
Maybe 3/$93M If in addition to Petes contract opt out, the Mets ALSO have opt outs after year 1 or 2. Then if he regresses yet again in 25, we say Sayonara, and go after Vlad
He has been declining last 2 years - didn’t he decline the home run derby because he was not named on the all star team ? Then they put hm on at last minute ?

I know they’re not that comparable but this just has the same stench of the Colorado/Arenado situation where a team tries everything in their power to make themselves look like the good guys for not wanting a player who doesn’t suck.
Maybe the Mets statistical group has done the analysis on all of Pete’s crummy strikeouts with men on base, waving at those outside pitches, and all of his stupid base running mistakes, and calculated how many wins he cost them last year versus a better contact hitter, or baserunner, net of his relatively small number of home runs that made a difference in a win. Hard cold math from a heartless team management led by the autocrat Stearns who sees every player as just a “piece”.
@dashx1103 so 93.3 million over 3 and the reason for that is he would make 100K more a season than the previous highest AAV for first baseman in Miguel Cabrera at 31 million per. Boras just wants to have record AAV deals and doesn't deal in reality.
I believe the Mets will trade for Vlad sometime this year. And I do not think the Mets will have to give up as many prospects as people might think. Because why would anyone trade a haul of prospects for Vlad this year and then possibly loosing the bidding war for Vlad to Cohen anyway next off season. That is why the Mets are not that eager to sign Pete. The Mets are in the drivers seat on both players right now.
i want pete gone. he leave million men on bases, can run, 240 bat avg, strike out all the time. we can go for vladdy 2025 better. vladdy way better then pete and younger.
If this dude wants $40 million a year that's insane. If he wants 8 years that's insane. He is not worth that despite who he is to NY. No other team wants him for that crazy money so why would the Mets pay it.

Winker/Marte 6.Bregman 7.Mcneil 8.Alvarez 9.Siri/Taylor I like Nimmo in the 2 hole working walks in front of Soto and Soto getting pitched around giving Vientos alot of RBI opps. Good lefty, righty balance as well.
Bregman ain't coming. If the Mets were not going over $68 mil for Pete on 3 years, there is no way they get Bregman. The big "power bats" behind Soto will be Winker, Marte, and Baty. You excited about that?
@dashx1103 Only partially agree cuz Bregman is seen as a defensive upgrade as well, can run the bases and 30 year old 3rd basemen don't age as bad as 30 yr old 1st Baseman. Plus if they don't sign him getting Soto won't be an upgrade to the offense anymore. You need Bregman at 3rd to make up for Vientos and Vientos at 1st has to have good numbers close to Pete's to make Soto an upgrade over Marte in RF
@@giovannijiminez7858 Uh ... I'm sorry ... why don't 30 year old 3b age "as bad" as 30 year old 1b? I don't get that at all. I am not against signing Bregman, though there are some concerns with his offense too. But my point here is mostly this: if the Mets were not going to go above $68 mil / 3 years for Pete, I just don't see how they meet anything Bregman would settle for. And, hey, I like his defense. But he won't replace Pete's power. So, less power / higher cost. I'll be surprised if Bregman comes to the Mets.

F the Mets. They're not going anywhere this year. Just lost a big power bat and now they'll never know how much better he would have become paired with Soto. Soto is not enough. They gave more money to Minaea than they offered Alonso. Embarrassing. They just didn't want him.
There are reports, and even Soto basically said himself that the Mets basically promised more in the lineup! If they go back on their promise and don’t do anything that’s not good business cuz they lied
Mets will be just fine without Alonso. Im a fan of his but he bet on himself and lost. No one else even looked at pete at the rate he thought he was worth. He only screwed himself.
Freeman is getting 27 million per with 13 million of it deferred per year for the next 3 years. The previous three he had 7 million per deferred. So basically the Dodgers had Freeman for 20 million per for the first three years of the deal and they'll have him for 15 million per over the final three years of the deal. That's 57 million in deferments. Boras doesn't not deal in deferred payments. The only thing comparable is the Olson deal where he signed a team friendly deal for 21 million per over 8. Pete won't even see half of an 8 year deal. He should've accepted the contract he was offered from Eppler because Stearns will not deviate from the market. Pete's time to sign was when you had a bad GM like Eppler and Cohen who would've paid him like a fanboy. That shipped long since sailed once Stearns was hired.
We just went from two games away from the World Series to probably not even making the playoffs as of right now they need to bring Pete back and if they don't bring Pete back we need to make more moves the pitching staff is no good the lineup is not that good right now we signed one great player
Pete Alonso means more to the Mets than just numbers - if it wasn’t for his clutch HR we wouldn’t have advanced in the Playoffs- Everyone I know has Pete’s # on their Jersey and during Spring Training guess who walks over and talks to everyone?? Alonso is overrated. Cohen and Stearns want to level up. Bring on Vlad.
Remember when Evan crashed out when the Mets didn’t keep Jacob Degrom? Here we go again.
So many Mets fans just don't get it! The fact is, the "Amazins" no longer want Pete Alonso back at any deal. The Metropolitans are looking ahead to 2026 when two major ballplayers are going to be available in the free agent marker... that's Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Kyle Tucker. Both of these guys are much younger than Alonso, and better overall players. It's business, folks!! Get over it now!
I remember when I heard Pete was Toxic from here.
The Mets offered him 6 years 160, he rejected. (This was before boras, so it's on him) then they quickly offered him the qualifying offer when he opted out of his contract in the off season. He rejected it, choosing to test the market, it wasn't there. In December they offered him 3 years 90 million, HE REJECTED IT!! The market STILL isn't there so why would the Mets price still be that high? They're only bidding against themselves. And if they can spend money to get Vladdy, who's a bit younger and better, why would they tie themselves down financially on pete??
7 yrs/$158, but yeah.
@jimwerther lol I knew I got the numbers wrong but I was close.
If we move on from PA, we'd still need an experienced 1B that could come off the bench if Vientos were to go on the IL for a stretch of time. Is Rizzo still unsigned?
Roberts with the kiss of death ⚰️
🤦♂️
Thanks for the memories, Pete.
Tiki didn't know the Mets made an offer. This is why this station sucks today. Tiki has no knowledge of any sport other than football
You just figured that out now? The station has been horrific for years now and the Tiki hiring is a direct result of it. But we all know why he's there and was hired for the afternoon drivetime slot.
So, soto is going to carry the whole team past the dodgers 😂. Now, the billionaire wants to be cheap.
Just because your rich doesn't mean you have to buy shi you don't need.
They just wanted Soto. They don’t actually care about winning
@@bossf1ght169they could have gotten a great starting pitcher which this team desperately needs
They don't think Pete is gonna stay productive . It's that simple
Dodgers! Dodgers! Dodgers! They are not the 2025 WS champs. It’s a long season. Stuff happens.
The Mets would’ve have gone this long without a first baseman if they truly don’t want Pete.
Good riddance Pete! Sorry just don't like his attitude he isn't worth this much cya buddy!
I’m a a Mets fan that hopes he’s gone
Enough already get rid of Pete every time he got hit by a pitcher he showed no fight . Pitchers were not afraid to keep him way off the plate.
football has absolutely broke this man.
I absolutely cannot stand the fact that Jose Siri batting .187 with 170 strikeouts is on our team what an embarrassment
Not paying him 30 million
@@dwaynebanks4194, no, but he's taking up a spot playing. I can play for cheap also. I'm 56 .
@@dwaynebanks4194your point? He was getting paid 700k last year and was trash you think he deserves a pay raise??
@ it’s not up to me to decide.. you think Alonso deserves a raise for the last two years
They got him for his glove and speed, plus he has some pop.But the Mets are obviously ok with the fact that he's a low .200 hitter.
Mets are BETTER WITHOUT PETE IN 2025. Re-sign Iglesias. He and the kids are better than Pete. Sign Tanner Scott, Brooks Raley, and Quintana, and I'm good.
As much as Steve Cohen says he really wants players that want to be here. It’s weird that he’s letting Alonso slip away
If Pete wanted to be a NYM he wouldn’t hired Boras
@@ACJ-x9x Funny, though that Soto hired Boras ... and it sure looks like he wanted to be a Met.
Yeah if he Pete actually wanted to stay here he would have just immediately took the first offer and been done with it. Instead cupcake Petey showed his true colors by being only interested in the money and nothing else. Goodbye and good riddance.
THX GOD
🎉
METS MOVE ON FROM THE POLAR BEAR PETE ALONSO
GET SOMEONE ELSE THAT WOULD LOVE PLAYING FOR THE METS 🎉
He has been declining last 2 years - didn’t he decline the home run derby because he was not named on the all star team ? Then they put hm on at last minute ?
Wow, a lot of click bait going on. So you’re not gonna say he’s gone but in the very title of your post, what does it read? It reads “” he’s gone” and so am I!
Bye, Pete! Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Look Maine I love Pete I respect everything he had done for this team since he came here he brought energy and joy again an an the fans have dat special connection with each other they love him so much he breed Mets blood in his veins all day every day if he leaves it gonna sting really bad main but he can cope without him for a couple months because we can play winker at first base sometimes and mourisio as well and remember we signed joey meneses too he can also play first base I think we gonna be fine for a couple months until treading deadline if it doest work out then we got trade for someone maybe valdi or maybe we can take a chance on Rizzo for a little bit sign him to a one year year common we have to do something
I know they’re not that comparable but this just has the same stench of the Colorado/Arenado situation where a team tries everything in their power to make themselves look like the good guys for not wanting a player who doesn’t suck.
I'll say it AGAIN...VLAD JR ON DECK 2025-2026. LFGM! 👏🏿🎊🍾🥂🏆
Why is this guy constantly yelling?
You lost Pete
To Xanax for the Green Man
They're looking to sign Guerrero next season.
Love how we haven't heard the offer Boras gave to the Mets. I'm betting it was 3 years for 120.
Probably 150
It was reported at 3 years / 93 mil. The Mets offer was 3 years / $68 mil.
@dashx1103 so 93.3 million over 3 and the reason for that is he would make 100K more a season than the previous highest AAV for first baseman in Miguel Cabrera at 31 million per. Boras just wants to have record AAV deals and doesn't deal in reality.
GREAT Show 🫡👏🏽🎯🤔🧐
I believe the Mets will trade for Vlad sometime this year.
Ok. So everyone wants Pete gone. Who's replacing his numbers? I think Pete AND the Mets are mistaken that the grass is greener on the other side.
Pete is mistaken. Mets will get Vlad jr and it will be greener
@@gold_ram_5.780 , not a foregone conclusion. And ya realize time is running out and our rotation sucks, right?
i want pete gone. he leave million men on bases, can run, 240 bat avg, strike out all the time. we can go for vladdy 2025 better. vladdy way better then pete and younger.
Question: What do the Mets do with Alonzo in 2026 if they sign Vladdy in free agency?
If this dude wants $40 million a year that's insane. If he wants 8 years that's insane. He is not worth that despite who he is to NY. No other team wants him for that crazy money so why would the Mets pay it.
Petes comin back baby! Lets go!
With no Alonso its Bregman or bust now and trade some guys for a SP
1.Lindor
2.Nimmo
3.Soto
4. Vientos
5. Winker/Marte
6.Bregman
7.Mcneil
8.Alvarez
9.Siri/Taylor
I like Nimmo in the 2 hole working walks in front of Soto and Soto getting pitched around giving Vientos alot of RBI opps.
Last place team
Who else clicked because they actually thought Alonso had signed with another team? Isn’t that what “gone” means?
Nobody actually
Title: Pete Alonso is GONE!!!😮💀
Evan 30 seconds in: I AM NOT GUNNA GET ON THE RADIO AND SAY HE'S GONE!!😮😤
Mets fans bragging about how much money they have to buy whoever they want to and yet they’re rolling with never was Jesse Winker as their starting first baseman. Wow they drank the Kool Aid 😂
Mets and the fans are all clowns 😂😂😂
With ir without pete, mets 3rd place team in nl east without dramatic change in pitching
F the Mets. They're not going anywhere this year. Just lost a big power bat and now they'll never know how much better he would have become paired with Soto. Soto is not enough.
They gave more money to Minaea than they offered Alonso. Embarrassing. They just didn't want him.
How many Mets fans said I'm OK if Pete leaves if we sign Soto Now they got Soto and they r crying Pete is probably gone
There are reports, and even Soto basically said himself that the Mets basically promised more in the lineup! If they go back on their promise and don’t do anything that’s not good business cuz they lied
Vlad jr will be that more
@@gold_ram_5.780we have to give up too many top prospects to get him this year. Next year we can go for him but this year is probably unlikely.
@@gold_ram_5.780keep dreaming. Who's pitching for you
@ if we get him I agree
Mets will be just fine without Alonso. Im a fan of his but he bet on himself and lost. No one else even looked at pete at the rate he thought he was worth. He only screwed himself.
Sure they will in 4th place 😂😂
Pete Alonzo is NOT "gone". Stop with these clickbait headlines!
Cohen gave Boras 805 million so now that Stearns is left to do his thing he will get the deal he wants from Boras.
We just went from two games away from the World Series to probably not even making the playoffs as of right now they need to bring Pete back and if they don't bring Pete back we need to make more moves the pitching staff is no good the lineup is not that good right now we signed one great player
PeteSucks.
Yeah because Pete was the Mets driving force to and in the playoffs.
Tiki's 100% right
Tiki is a fraud and a crybaby. He should have never been hired at WFAN.
Big Nuts Pete steps in and makes the deal with Mets! Little Man Boris takes a backseat...!
Tiki's not a baseball guy and he demonstrates that with all of his comments!
Pete Alonso means more to the Mets than just numbers - if it wasn’t for his clutch HR we wouldn’t have advanced in the Playoffs- Everyone I know has Pete’s # on their Jersey and during Spring Training guess who walks over and talks to everyone?? Yep it’s Pete so with that said I don’t know what the $$ dispute is but this is a guy who will hit 40 hr 100 rbi per year- Play every day and represent the Mets in the Hall of Fame
Vladdy
Did the Mets not get Soto? He replaced him.
