Bryan's vocals are the best example of raw, unfiltered rage and emotion when singing and that's the best way to describe his vocal style. It's not for everyone, it's an acquired taste but once you realize that's what his style is the whole thing clicks. Even more once you look into the meaning behind some of their songs and lyrics since a lot of them focus on death and loss, struggling with religion, etc.

Their entire EP "A tear in the fabric of life" is great example of how good Bryan's voice is at expressing guilt, anguish, desperation, etc

Im not a huge knocked loose fan. I listen to everything metal, and i can tell you those vocals even for someone fully versed in metal, are GRATING. The reason though that they work so well, is because it truly just sounds like a young man who is EXTREMELY Pissed off. He is just SCREAMING in his voice. Thats why it is kind of awesome. You see this a lot more in like pop punk, where the vocalist uses a lot of their natural speaking voice with the volume turned up, and it is a successful strategy a lot of times, and it certainly has worked for Knocked loose. Watch your reaction when his vocals come in. It is that reaction that keeps bringing people back to knocked loose.
I will say though, i worry that this guy, Brian i believe is his name, is potentially damaging his vocal chords with this style of scream. It is hard to say, because i do not know him, and i do not know his technique. A lot of metal bands, particularly younger ones, make the mistake of just Screaming as loud and as hard as they can into the mic, with no real technique. Corey Taylor of Slipknot and even James Hetfield of Metallica are excellent examples. Both of these very famous metal vocalists wound up getting trained to use their voice without destroying it, after having issues with their voice due to their songs. This is why, slipknots earlier albums sound quite different on the vocal performances, as Corey had learned between the albums to properly modulate his voice. This isnt to say that someone who is trained cant still blow out their voice. But its far more likely untrained, belting shit like what this guy is.
Either way, Knocked loose is coming up in a big way. The metal scene is waiting to see what they do next for sure.

I saw Mark from Kardavox Academy say the same exact thing about worrying for Brian's vocal cords, but he seems to have changed his views on that. He explained that he thinks Brian is actually do this in a way that isn't damaging, which is *wild* to me, because it seems almost impossible with the sound he has. But Mark knows a lot more than I do, so I'll trust him in this one 😂

@@earthscorcherjust to add some extra info, Brian mentioned in the downbeat podcast, that at some point he performed shows back to back for like 50 days (or somewhere around those lines) which is insane and would have left his voice really hurt if he didn't use a proper screaming technique

  • @CrazyIrishmen7
    @CrazyIrishmen7 Місяць тому +5

Did he just say "i will cut off your tongue"
"No lies can speak, from a tongue removed, i will cut off your tongue"
The lyrics are actually rather intense, and seem to be about an overly religious family member tearing a family apart, this song seems to be a response to what im guessing is their death.
    "Reborn, dont reach for me"
"Thats exactly why your daughter left"
"Will you grow tired, portaying divinity"
"When your arms are to weak to pull yourself back up, when your arms are too weak to reach for god, dont reach for me"
"A fitting end for an absolute fucking clown"
    Even the chorus
"I dream of a cleansing wave, set me free. I return to form, no longer bound to me."
Sounds like the person finally died and is no longer poisoning the well, if you will.
Really heavy song, metal music is full of real.

I love Knocked Loose so much, but I did not understand this music video either lol 🥲I understand the hesitation with their vocals though; they are one of those bands people either love or hate. It's the type of music that has to grow on you, so hopefully you guys will consider reacting to them more! You just have to sit with your eyes closed listening to them and think about all the things that make you the angriest in life, then you will understand 😂Sitting there angrily with your eyes closed might not make for the best reaction video, but I will take what I can get! Side note, this isn't a reaction request, but if Dallas hasn't already heard of The Bones of J.R. Jones, she should check them out cause they kinda have a country vibe (wild west type country though), so maybe she will like them and it will be a nice break from all the screaming music she's had to listen to lately. Some of my fav songs by The Bones of J.R. Jones are St. James' Bed and Slow Lightning. ANYWAY, sorry for rambling, but thank you for reacting to Knocked Loose, even if you think they sound like little kids lmao 🤘
