I am so amazed at how "classy" she is. I had never heard any of her interviews. She is sooooo different from Yoko. Yoko has always been a very bizarre person in my eyes. So refreshing to hear such a sweet spirit talk about her experiences with John.

It' very sad to hear that Cynthia passed away. After the Beatlemania and her break-up with John she chose to live her own life with Julian. She was a strong and nice woman. It's nice that she remembered as Paul was the one form Beatles entourage to pay a visit to her. As almost everybody knows on the way to Cynthia house, while he was drivieng, he started to write "Hey Jules", the "Hey Jude" dedicated to Julian.
I, too, have always loved and admired Cynthia Lennon, and Julian now. Wonderful and classy. John lost a lot when he lost her.
Cynthia seemed like such a lovely lady. Very well spoken and overall just a kind person.
Imagine the Beatles coming to your wedding when they were actually the early Beatles -- cheeky, witty, engaged, passionate, hopeful, young, at the height of their personal charisma. A lucky girl.
No matter what John shared with Yoko, I still think Cynthia was the love of his life.

Suji Fernando Life is not as simple as that. Just because John was famous people dissect his love life. I believe many couples who get married when they are young outgrow each other. Sadly sometimes it is just one of the partnership who falls out of love, which of course makes it difficult for the person left behind. John just moved on to the next stage in his love life. Simple as that. It is actually quite common. Just because John became famous, initially just through his music, he was still an ordinary man to me. Yes a man with certain talents, but still a man.

Really, really good comment that I'm glad I spotted. What happened to Cynthia happened to me a fair few years back (I'm a man btw) but in the end I had to face p to the fact that these things do happen. People find people who are right for them in the end , and sometime or other you just have to let go ... and the then it feel just brilliant. Really wise comment
My compassion is for Cynthia and Julian.
It's the way Yoko got John that pissed people off. Not nearly as much as the public's perception that Yoko split The Beatles, but through the years, the lowlife actions of Yoko towards Cynthia and Julian has been brought out and Yoko can't wash that away! Yoko gets no favor as far as I'm concerned!

Casper Jean Rimbaud Correct !! I always thought that Cynthia was the most beautiful and intelligent of all the Beatle women. When he left her for Yoko, I thought that he had lost his mind. It ultimately cost him his life. So ironic that Yoko ended up sitting on top of multi-millions and an empire that should have been Cynthia's. RIP Cynthia.

Great interview. Cynthia was so smart and generous. She was a great human being. That's so bad John Lennon spoiled everything for Yoko and because of his own past history problems. His own father wasn't a good example neither, he left his children as well, including John. Parental behaviors often repeat themselves from one generation to another. Shame.

I'm sure John never stopped loving Cynthia . She was the love of his youth, and the mother of his first born. Eventually, drugs just added to their marital problems, and she was better off alone . He was then a perfect match for Yoko Ono, who also did drugs and was all messed up too.

Cynthia is so classy, a really magnificent person, like a literary heroine. Listening to her speak is a treat. Her vocabulary alone, her syntax, a highly intelligent person with a great deal of heart and understanding. And a great story teller. No wonder John was so in love with her, his first love. John certainly had good taste before drugs brought him down low.

A very honest brave and kind woman. Hard to hear for some of the things only Cynthia can share .There is no way that this was for money or fame she was there at the very beginning warts and all .I have every respect for this lady .Yes I'm a fan of the Beatles and of John .In some respects he reminds me of my own young brother who also is named John he also looks like John lennon .I cant say that their upbringing was exactly alike .We lost our mother to breast cancer in 1983 our only brother John was 18 at the time we then lost our father 5 months after to heart failure. After that john spun out of control. He hated every one lashed out and everything this went on for a long time .John is 6ft 4 inch tall he weighted less than 8 stone due to drugs and alcohol. I'm glad to say he is with us today only through himself taking charge of his life .He teaches carving and just about anything to do with art. He has 3 beautiful daughters and 2 grandchildren. He still has his moments of temper and dips and highs .Who the hell doesnt .I think this is for Julian, I'm not sure you will ever read this kiddo .Your mum was a very special lady who just adored her son .Your dad I'm more than sure deep down had his moments where he just wanted to reach out .You are your own man today I would be proud to call you my son .Yes your father was talented there is no denying that his songs are still played today and will go on being played .You have an amazing voice just beautiful it makes me cry because its so pure .God bless you kiddo keep on being just you .♥️🤗🤘🏴

George Martin said when he met John in later life " he had changed so much", there was to my mind a deteriotian in the man.The decline was the result of pressure, fame, money and drugs and Yoko.When he was on lsd he looked beatific and his artistry was so ethereal , but in 68 when he was on heroin he looks so agressive and loopy and all the halkbaked philosophy in 69 is only listenable to fans.

Your childhood can definitely scar you. My parents fought every day as a child. I have absolutely no interest in getting married as a result and cannot see the world in a super positive way.
Laura - spot on...my story too... my first serious love adored me & promised he'd never give me the life my dad had given my mom... my trust was gone... I broke his heart & thank goodness he is happily married to a lovely person in Australia... today in hindsight realize he was a true blue... sad - You change who your children are by abusing their mother... sad... even if you don't like the mother... RESPECT her in front of the impressionable little minds /eyes watching ....

I read Cynthia's book, JOHN 2x. Very informative and real. Loved the forward by Julian. John is my idol BUT he was NOT perfect. He was really rotten to Cynthia at times.
I just finished the book; it was very enthralling. I did see the Beatles at Shea and it was a wild scene.
John loved Cynthia there's no question about that. However, John had a problem with women. He's never had a strong male figure in his life. Let's not forget that Yoko STALKED John, let's not mince words, she stalked him.Yoko & her then husband Tony were looking for a RICH benefactor and Yoko hooked her fangs into John. John was NEVER really happy inside, not with Yoko...he just existed in that marriage.

We'll answer that question about "Yucko" Ono for you....she TOOK more away from John Lennon than she EVER brought into his life. He had the TALENT. She was a GOLD DIGGER. Cynthia had more CLASS in her pinky finger than Yucko ever had. The LSD and drug abuse must have been what made him lose sight of what he had in Cynthia and Julian. The fact that Yoko did not treat Julian fairly (concerning John's estate) speaks VOLUMES about HER character(or lack thereof).

+caterina z. john &yoko were great together, Cynthia met john while at art shool. cyn and john were good together. she wrote 2 books and read both and I don't believe he was shown in bad light. the 1st book came out in 79, I was convinced then that she was still in love with him. I think the 2nd book came out about 10 yrs ago.. the 2nd book Julian wrote the forward. this to was a good book. john is shown in a good light.

The life before they split when he met with Yoko. In John Lennon last interview he said that he changed when he met Yoko Ono.
She supported John when he was a poor unknown and how did he repay her? with abuse and neglect as well as the neglect and abuse of his son Julian.
John repayed Cynthia by giving her a fortune. John gave Cynthia a beautiful home, clothes, jewelry, vacations, gourmet food, servants, gardners, fame etc. Cynthia was so needy, and John had to take care of her. Yoko was independent and worked. Yoko took care of all of John's business dealings and she made John a fortune. Cynthia was boring and didn't work. Cynthia was obsessed with John. He was so turned off by Cynthia.
As far as John is concerned cynthia told the reporter that johns weird behavior and high emotion may have connected with the sad life he encountered before the beatles got famous and i remember during their concert john always make a facial funface while paul is talking so dfunny but thats the way he show his emotion if thing getting good and happy and cynthia told that thats the way he express himself but when the good things stop he remember again a sad chapter of his life me too had that personality sometimes and i thought dont want a boring existence or subject thats why his talent musically was fantastic and interesting to watch his whole personality successful career and life and respected by many and other beatkes look upon him eversince not only being a leader but an extra ordinary talented bandmate

Yoko stalked him day and night at his place of work, and at his marital home, and through the mail, and on the phone. He probably had his usual one night stand with her, but then once she got hold of his contact info she just refused to let him go. She kept popping up everywhere, a true stalker. He tried to break it off several times, she threatened suicide. Piece of work.
Cynthia was a class act and a very strong woman; John made a huge mistake by leaving her.
In most of these comments, they compare Yoko to pigs, cows, dogs etc. but I think that is a TOTAL INSULT to those lovely animals.

John realized that the partner might change but the same problems still exist. He said this in an interview a few years after marrying yoko and I think what he was talking about was boredom, routine, same ol sex, arguments etc.
Clearly this interview is from a while back but, I just watched the Get Back Documentary. In there, there is a scene where "the boys" are rehearsing and Yoko had a recorder that she's whispering in to with thoughts/notes during their session. Amongst the things she's whispering, she's graphically and sexually psychoanalyze him and providing her version of help/solutions. Of course her "solution" benefits her (sexually) AND further solidifies her position in his life; two birds, one stone. When I heard that immediately I knew the how and why of her. She really manipulated him, under the guise of help, and harmed a lot of people. Furthermore, he was a very mentally weak person who was susceptible to manipulation and influence when done just right.

Cynthia seems like a kind and warm person. However, she might have been too boring for a genius rebel. It seems he loved strong women, and Cynthia was not strong. I read her biography, John, and thought there were many times she could have fought back and demanded respect, but was too insecure to fight for her marriage. They met as teenagers, people change and grow apart.

Well we will never know exactly all the details, but the bottom line is, for reasons that we don’t understand/or can’t understand, is that he really adored YokoCynthia was great and nice lady, but she was too ordinary for John .
Part of me thinks that she just wanted to beat Yoko there so she had some time to talk some sense into John.
