Glad you enjoyed the videos. Those old muzzleloaders had a hard life and had many interesting repairs. I always liked the decorations and carvings on many of the frontier guns. Take care.
I bought a cherry mosin out of a crate 14 years ago. 99 dollars shoot great. Found a tin can of Russian ammo and snagged that. I’ll get out come spring see what I can now. Getting old 70 this year Mr Dodson

Is there a danger of blow out with this type of repair?
It's about the same as using epoxy. Most of the time, they split somewhere else instead of in the same place which glass bedding the area around the tang would prevent.
