Thanks for watching. Check out the next video in this series, explaining the purpose of yoga poses or 'asanas' : ua-cam.com/video/rj9aqoV5zLI/v-deo.html

What strikes me is that these principles are almost exactly what I have been developing unconsciously since I started to practice meditation to confront all sorts of problems and suffering suddenly popping up in my life. So they are really part of yoga. Not 'yoga as exercise' as most modern people recognise today. If my understanding is correct, meditation is also yoga. So I confirm from my own experience that these are all connected and it is really a pity if a yogi neglects these elements beyond the mat

Yes that's absolutely correct - meditation is a very important part of yoga :)

It's really interesting to me how many of these things I had already implemented into my life. I've only just started my Yoga journey properly, and it's nice to know I was already doing a lot of it.

I really like your videos, which are rich, precise, and comprehensible. I am now in the yoga teacher training program, trying to understand yoga philosophy beyond physical postures. Your shareings help me better understand it. Thank you so much. Could you share more about yoga mediation and yoga history? I would love to learn more from your channel.

I've just discovered your channel Emily! Thanks for such a clear video and I love your explanation that you are born as your true self, I totally relate to that... I feel like the experience of living creates so many boundaries and defenses within ourselves! As far as I'm aware, Bramacharya is pronounced with a "ch" sound instead of a hard "c" sound. Thank you for a great video! 🥰

i found your channel today and it is really a great one! i love the kind of research you have done to present this video.
well, i would love to point towards the pronunciation of brahmacharya .. in this the ch is pronounced like the ch in 'chair' and also non attachment include non attachment to the result of your work.. that is do your karma with all your heart and you should be content whether you win or lose because your focus is on doing your karma sincerely and not on the result.. All the best for your channel 👍🏻

You explain everything so nicely. I’m a Hindu. I’m aware of all these concepts but the way you put makes it so much more easier to understand.
Just a little pronunciation mistake i noticed … the Ch in Brahmacharya is pronounced same as the ‘ch’ in chair or church. The ch shouldn’t sound like K. Thank you 🙏🏻😊

How does yoga and pregnancy work? I do prenatal yoga (asanas) now but how does that go into the 8 limbs of yoga? Is there a difference? Am I still aiming to get to the 8th limb and not just the westernized version of yoga?

There are no different interpretations about any terms you mentioned in any whatsoever Indian school of thoughts. These terms and what they precisely mean are precisely defined in the source texts and if they are not there then what they mean would be taken from a Scripture which supercedes the scriptural authority of the source text in terms of precedence. And these moral disciplines are not at all needed for body exercises, though any good habit invariably impacts your subconscious mind and going forward, in a subtle way influences your overall health too. These disciplines are primarily for someone who has set out to attain God. No doubt following them without the specific objective of God-realisation would anyway make you a good and moral human being and without you knowing consciously it will invariably push you forward in the path of God-realisation.

    Brah-ma-cha-rya - Here's a breakdown of the pronunciation:
"Brah" is pronounced like "brah" in "brother."
"Ma" is pronounced like "ma" in "marble."
"Cha" is pronounced like "cha" in "chocolate."
"Rya" is pronounced like "ree-ya," where "ree" rhymes with "see."
