I love love loved Ninth Rain so much and can’t wait to start book two. I am a world building driven reader and this world is so fascinating. You are the reason I even bothered to pick up Ninth Rain, you have talked about these books before and I am so glad I read the first book!! I love that you try really hard not to spoil books when you chat about them. I feel as if your tastes in books are very similar to mine! Thank you for all your great videos!!
The First Law is my favourite book series. If you are a fan of dark humour, complex, morally grey and really entertaining characters and incredible fights read it immediately
I loved this series did you find any thing similar or enjoyable. Can you recommend me something or you know there can be ( Body found floating by the docks )😊
For each tier, if you like: European and napoleanic stories, guns, high stakes and action: Powder mage: first trilogy (Easy level) Urban fantasy, mafia stories and family drama: Green Bone Saga (Intermedium level) Scifi-Fantasy mix, forgotten civilizations, unique magic systems and writing style: Broken earth trilogy (Hard level) Those are my recommendations :)
The first adult fantasy trilogy I ever finished was Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne by Brian Staveley. A slightly dark, high fantasy that I quite enjoyed. And despite The First Law Trilogy being one of his bigger works, I also enjoyed Shattered Sea from Joe Abercrombie. It was a good stepping stone from YA fantasy to adult fantasy for me. I’d recommend it for the people who want to try big epic fantasy but want something more contained and less complicated.
I second the Shattered Sea series. It's pretty good and I really like that while it's more young adult, Joy didn't have to change his style of writing in those books. I also love the protagonist of the first book and his evolution as the series progresses
I don't know if it's accurate to say "conclusion" to Stormlight Archive is coming next year, as it's always been planned as a 10 book series. But yes, Brandon has stated that book 5 will wrap up the first half.
From the ones I have completed, I would add the Powder Mage Trilogy, by Brian McClellan, and The Memoirs of Lady Trent, by Marie Brennan. Other completed series that have the potential to get into my list, but I'm still currently reading, are The Green Bone Saga, by Fonda Lee, and The Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne, by Brian Staveley. I don't really consider The Lord of the Rings a series, but I guess it technically is in the way it is published, so... it would be hard not to include it as an all time favourite as well 😊
I recently shared the ending picture of your dog with my boyfriend. He looks at me and says "no!" I was so confused and asked, "what was that for?" And he replies, "do not steal her dog!" Lmfao 😂😆 I enjoy all your videos and look forward to them!
Love the darker Shade of Magic books. Have you read any Brent Weeks? I don't really see his stuff much in videos. A friend of mine loves his work but I have yet to jump on the wagon. Would love to hear your thoughts on his books.
Thanks for the warning on Bone Shard series. That time skip would frustrate me, especially if the author hadn't utilized that narrative style before in the series.
I always forget that Yennefer spends like 3 Books as a Mini-Statue on someones desk... that was kinda random but I like those random perspectives bc it shows so much from the world, and like the butterfly effect everything is intertwined. Also Sapkowskij expects so much from you as a reader, he does not explain that much, many things you just have to get through context.
All time favorites for sure The Wayfarer Redemption series by Sara Douglass. And Green Rider series by Kristan Britain, the last book comes out next month. So excited, but also sad because I don’t want the series to end. I already preordered it but it will probably take me three months before I finally pick it up to read lol Have you read any books in either of these series?
I just finished the Aurelian Cycle (which I LOVED so much) and was wondering if you (or anyone) could recommend any other books with similar vibes? Fantasy with high stakes, diverse cast of characters, possibly political fantasy where neither side is as simple as "black and white" in terms of good vs bad, etc. That kind of thing!
I read the Queen of Blood series and I can say with certainty that you are very kind & generous with your comments... if a reader enjoys books where the author introduced "new main characters" as a substitution for "character development" or actual "character arc" ...the series might appeal. I'm pretty sure I DNF'd the 3rd book. The Daughter of the Moon Goddess series is fabulous. The writing really drew me into the world, it's a "romance" story but it's pretty sterile of any "suggestive language" surrounding intimacy. Same is true for the original Mistborn series (trilogy). Sadly, I liked the FMC & MMC of the original Mistborn series so much that I can't make myself enjoy the Wax & Wane adventures.
The Queen of blood the bone shard daughter love them both and absolutely so amazing I love the characters and the writing and such amazing great authors 📙🩵⛱️🏝️⛱️🩵📙📙🩵⛱️🌊🌊🌞📚🌞🌊📖📖🌊🌊🌞📖📚📖🌞🌞📖📖🏝️🏝️🩵💛💛💛🏝️🏝️⛱️📙📙🌊🌞📖📖📚📚📚📚📚📖🌞📙📙
I need to finish the Queens of Renthia Series. I read the first book but just didn't pick up the next one. And damn, now I want to read The Bone Shard Daughter lol.
Does it really bother anyone else tht they did not name the first book for the new mistborn covers properly? I got back into reading this past year and mistborn was one of the first series I read and fell in love with so I want to buy a set for my shelves. I do like those covers but the fact tht the first book says mistborn and not the Final Empire I can’t bring myself to buy them.
General question: How do you read such an enormous quantity of books -- seemingly in such a short time? Are you a speed reader of the first order? Or do you have a job as perhaps an editor, where you can spend many hours reading each day? Or do you pay others to read most of the books and send you a Reader's Digest condensed version?
I knew the Winnowing Flames, First Law and Mistborn were going to make an appearance, and I AGREE. Y’all need to go read those. If you’ve already read those or want to expand your never ending TBR here are some suggestions: Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. The Faithful and Fallen by John Gwynne. The Powder Mage Trilogy by Brian McClellan. The Licanius Trilogy by James Islington. The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb. The Daevabad Trilogy by Shannon Chakraborty. The Greenbone Saga by Fonda Lee. I want to recommend The Wheel of Time but my god is it a huge commitment and the middle books are kinda giving hit or miss, so proceed with caution. Now I haven’t read her books, but I heard that N. K. Jemisin is great so Inheritance Trilogy and The Broken Earth trilogy… now mind you I haven’t finished ALL the series that I’ve listed above, but from what I’ve read in the unfinished series was promising enough for me to recommend. Mind you I’d say that many of these recommendations would probably be in the 2nd and 3rd levels of the tiers that Elliot was using as a reference.
The Witcher I read it and and love the writing and such a good series and absolutely lovely story and heroic and fighting etc loved the the Netflix series 🏝️🏝️🏝️🌞🌞🏝️🌊💛🩵⛱️📖📖📖🏝️📚📙📙📚🏝️🌊💛💛🩵📖📖📖📖🏝️📚📙📚🌞📖🌞📚📙📚🌞🌞🌞📚📙📚🏝️🌞🌊💛🩵🩵⛱️⛱️📖📖📖📖🏝️📚📚📙📙📙📙📚🏝️🌞📖📖🏝️📚🌊🌊💛⛱️📖📖📖🌞🏝️🏝️
I love how consistent you are with uploads, Elliot. You've quickly become one of my comfort booktubers! ☺
Ooh, comfort bookTuber is such a good description of El
Totally agree. That's exactly how I feel 😊
I feel the same way!
When the video just started and you already know that The Ninth Rain and The Blade Itself are going to be there because they are not in the shelfs

I neee to praise the voice actor of the first law books! He does an awesome job.

Great recommendations ✨
Reading Ninth Rain now! Also, love your hair.. you look amazing!

Just paused the video to go and order the Mistborn… very excited! Thank you 🖤🖤
A great recommendation list! Adding the ones I haven't read to my tbr 💜
Thank you so much ☺️ This video was exactly what I was waiting for ❤ You’re the best.

I'm reading Daughter of the Moon Goddess right now! Glad to see it's on this list.

Really? 🤷♀️
Thank you for this video !!!
Love the hair
I loved Mistborn. I could sympathize with the boy the tyrant has been. His story is one of the most tragic.
"Daughter of the Moon Goddess"...hmm... 'Sailor Moon'?
Good morning! :D
Good evening! : )
now we just need a Good Day! and we'll have the globe covered ☺
😂😂🥰
Good night 😊

She is an author and musician
Mistborn is YA. If it was written by a woman, no one would think otherwise.
I knew the Winnowing Flames, First Law and Mistborn were going to make an appearance, and I AGREE. Y’all need to go read those.
