Congrats on the start of new & exciting remodels! I’m glad to learn something new from you & still be entertained by the bloopers. 🤣 Btw give Koda a good boy head pat for being such an pawsome awesome construction supervisor!
I really enjoy your videos. They have such good information. My house is over 100 years old, so no telling what is hiding. A kitchen remodel is in the, hopefully, near future (after my husband completes the resto-mod of our 1956 Chevy pickup.) Today's outtakes made me chuckle.
You got lucky with that little bit of sag in the ceiling. Whenever a blade binds means you have some weight coming down, as you found out. Keep up the good work! Love the vids.
I have same problems with a dog and a better half that inspects all work as it is being done. (Doh). Love the video. You make it look easy but i know it isn't. Thanks for that Later.👍
When I did a header I used narrow vertical strips and left some gaps between the big boards to let me put electrical through them as I had to reroute some Romex.
I think I know what you did because I just encountered it in a header I recently removed from a 2x4 wall: instead of using a full width of 1/2" plywood for the middle of the sandwich, the original framer used approx 4 inch wide strips of 1/2 plywood and put those spacers on approx 16 inch centers across the header, which left some wide gaps. I have no idea if that's ok by code but it seems like a wise use of material AND gives a channel to run romex thru the center of the header.
When you were working on the opening I thought you were working with live wires 😮 since I didn't hear you say you'd isolated the power to those circuits. What I'd really like to know is how many hours do you spend just staring at the camera? 😂😂😂. You did fabulously well though!
To Matt of the past, there aren’t any pipes in there. It went well. Just thought you’d like to know. You should still record as much as you can. It seems like this house is probably gonna be around awhile and that this might be the house your kids grow up in. Personally I loved the remodels start to finish.
The bloopers are the BEST Excellent video and info!!! Bro and others... do yourselves a BIG favor and maybe start thinking about ear protection! I'm 62... had 'normal' hearing most of my life but now have 70% hearing loss and tinnitus that is 100% unbearable. Likely causes... shotgun shooting as a kid, Zeppelin, The Who & Foghat on 10 as a teen, nail guns, compressors, chop saws, jack hammers, grinders, power presses, four slides and woman as an adult. All while never wearing ear protection. Keeping our eyes is good too.
The location of your new door makes the most sense, but I probably would have made installed the door on the other wall so I didn’t have to mess with moving electrical. 😂
Thanks so much Matt you are awesome!❤ My husband was a Journeyman and said after a couple of years he decided it was not for him and went into the military. He has skills, but I don’t know if he would take on a job like this! You make it all look so easy!
Hmm what if you are turning a window into a door on the exterior but it’s a engineered yellow pine beam instead of the typical top plate construction ?

Anyone else disappointed that he didn’t film the cleanup for us to watch?
good to learn
Good job! It was helpful for me, thanks. Good luck.
Nice work sir
Well done. Should talk about point loads tho especially if someone decides to do a bigger opening.
Wow you have really lost weight. You look healthy. Great video and your explanations are always top notch. 😊
I wish i had your skills
I wish I had a house😢.
"Do what works for you..." Ok, so can I get your number so I can pay you to do it? LOL! Seriously, you make it easy to learn.
Just skip to the last two minutes for the best laughs! You’re the best

When the old guys on This Old House retire , the show may just offer you a big $$$$ job ...
Honestly I learned more from the fixer than years of this old house.
I genuinely dont like this old house tutorials. I think they overlook alot of different situations and can skip over a bunch without realizing.
He would need to move to Boston
Thanks

They were live. He was just very careful. Did you notice that he put the wallplates back on, to be safe ?
The Fixer 👍

1:00 I kept wiping my screen, thinking there is a smudge on it. Nope it's a nail holding the paper 😆
24:29 trying to guess where it’s going to come out of….nope, got it wrong 😂
I did the same thing!! 😂😂😂

I’m gonna make an intro, and imma do it like the cool aid man
That intro was INTENSE!!!

Looks like you've dropped a good amount of weight. Everything good with you? Hope the new home is going well and your family is well.

I was hoping on the intro you'd just coolaid through that wall, or punch a nice hole.
