I'm a 74 year old woman, too, and I can pretty confidently say that I am never going to do any of the things I watch you doing. But, it's so entertaining and I'm painlessly learning how to boss around any worker who attempts repairs in my presence. Thanks, The, for the good times!
As a wanna-be DIYer, my favorite thing about watching you work is how you approach demolition. Very clean and methodical. I will be following your method for my next project.
Great compilation of all the videos.....Really love the outakes.... "Where do we go from here?" In my head I immediately said "I'm feeling this!"......😂
Thank you for your videos. I am learning so much. As a woman it feels like I have been taken advantage of by more than one contractor.. but I am learning a lot from your videos and can now carefully watch what is done and make sure it is done correctly. It really makes me appreciate your amazing skill set, work ethic and willingness to take the time to video tape your projects. Wish you had a few clones to spread around…lol. P.S. Watching over the years I did get brave enough to install floating bamboo flooring over my entire first floor and tiled all my bathrooms myself 😊
This video brought back *a lot* of memories. I learned most everything you talked about in 1 yr. remodeling our first home [every room], with *ZERO* experience and *ZERO* tools. But, I asked a lot of questions, learned as I went, and spent a bit of $$$ along the way. The plumbing I subbed out-there was too much involved i.e., in moving the bathroom from upstairs to downstairs in a house as old as yours [cast iron]. In the end we profited just over 35k after all was said which allowed us to buy the house we now own as of this week! That was 32 yrs ago. Keep doing these videos-I wish I had them back then. God bless.
Congrats on the new house!.......Nothing like doing it yourself experience. But yeah, having these videos to watch back then I'm sure could've saved ya some time and aggravation....
Haha yeah it's a long one. This is actually a compilation of the series I recently made but wanted to have the entire project in one video. Hopefully you will enjoy it either way. I hope you have an amazing day! Thanks so much for your support!
I grew up with home renovations & always loved watching This Old House with my dad. I find this very informative & entertaining! I love what you did with the shelving & how you added the top shelves & the shelf to cover up the wires. Very nice job!
Thank you. I wish I had 5 % of your talent. Although I just finished doing my 70 year old hardwood floors with a screen & recoat using Procoat titan satin.
Hey! I know you have probably seen this project before but I wanted to have all parts in one video. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for all the support. I see you in the comments every time and I really appreciate it!
While I'm unlikely to attempt a project this big, it's incredibly helpful for my own renovation to see how and why different tools and materials are used. I also feel a lot better seeing you using a Dyson stick vac for cleanup like I do. 🤪 Hi from Sydney Australia 👋 [Note for fellow Australians In Australia, electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician (and plumbing by a licensed plumber).]
An excellent idea for a video would to make a sliding platform that covers the basement staircase that you can reveal with a flick of a switch. That way you won't have to worry about falling down the stairs when accessing the pantry.
I'm 66 Lived in my house many years. You just gave me so many ideas for my ledge down my basement stairs. Now to see if I can find anybody that will help me. Your detail and ideas I could watch for hours. I also appreciate your explanation in things as you do them. I watched your kitchen and now I have my family members watching because you gave me some ideas for my kitchen. Your wife is so blessed by your handy skills. 2 of my kids are married and my son is like you are with his home. My daughter-in-law is blessed. Thank you for taking the time and videoing and sharing what you do I know it makes your process longer, but please, know, it's very much appreciated. You're very inventive and creative. When you were talking about using primer, So many people don't think about that. We have a family friend. That's been a painter for years and he said even though paint has primer in it, painting with primer is such an advantage to your item or wall. It seals it plus if we think about it.Primer is cheaper and so by putting good primer down firit seals and text less coats of paint. When when we took wallpaper down, I couldn't figure out why the wall was soaking up the paint. When this front told me prime first and then use your paint primer. It worked so much better. Every question was that outlet always on that wall ? What a great spot for one.
I love your videos. I like the simple explanation you give. Anyone can fallow them. One thing I would do more is figure out to put in a trap door on the flor. You got young kids and it only takes one wrong step. And it's not only the kids. You can be tired or having a headache or any other thing that can make you momentarily careless... Just think about it.
Your out- takes were hilarious! You really did do a good job on this remodel. It looks so much brighter and more functional. I'm sure you pleased your wife.
Absolutely wonderful construction of space. I have watched you "fix" each room in your home. Your wife is a very patient lady. Love your channel and the bloopers!
Very nice rehab. Maybe add rubber grommets to those power cord holes you did, not only does it protect the power cords, but give the holes auch more polished look.
❤❤❤ I love to see videos like yours we bought a home that only had the outside walls and it had the two by fours for the rooms. We had to finish everything else and because of lack of money I couldn’t pay nobody so we did it ourselves and it was not even nearly of what you did. We did a mess. Lol.
i like your normal DIY fixups for normal people. And probably most of the contractors out there do about the same thing. It seems a lot of DIYers like you (and me) probably do a better job trying to make it perfect. I am crud at doing drywall.
Microfiber rollers leave an amazing finish. U don't need to do the tape trick either. But then I discovered the spray gun! Honestly man..... saves time and the finish is professional even for the the non proffesisonal. Less mess to!
These are must sees for anyone hiring out, just to have some sort of standard to request. Other thoughts? I wonder what sort of maintenance goes in behind the scenes all your tools are so nice and organized. Do you need to sharpen any? Another thought? What a gift to your future self/family members should they want to know what dear old dad did when he rehabbed the house. Love all the insightful tips as you go, while not exactly a how-to, it does give ideas of what to consider. I wonder if you've done a starter tool set for folks wanting to attempt any of these phases of rehab? Substantial investment you've obviously made, how did you do it? Anywho, thanks for providing me with some needed viewing time while starting my day!
Out of curiosity, would vacuum floor or upholstery attachments work for that? Some of those tools have brushes. Or a stick vac with the floor brush would help possibly more, or that might be more harm than good.
Maybe you can invest in fencing ..wire fencing at all the borders of your property I have been seeing a lot of homes sitters do that. Maybe you need to do that so you don’t have anything open for people to come in Just a thought

Thanks for watching! 😃
Usually re routing wiring will possibly save trouble down the road
I’m a 74 yr old female but love to watch your builds. If it’s DIY for dummies it’s great for me cause I understand why and what for!
His narration of what he does and why is so instructive! I subscribe financially to the channel because I get so much value from it.
I’m a 67 yo female. Same! 🇨🇦❤️
Fantastic work.

as a loyal viewer i have already seen this but in episodes
Well I really appreciate that and hope you were not let down by the upload. 😬
Something about these UA-cam building videos tickles a part of my brain
Almost 3hrs!! . Another one for my Fixer playlist😄. Came for the home repair stayed for the voice/"rambles", music selection and awesome personality.

Respekt ! Das Video ist länger als sonst. Jeder kleine Handgriff wird gezeigt. Respekt !
The end is the best… that is how all my projects go…lol
I love watching your videos! Everything you do is great!
You're such a character behind the scenes! Funny!
Great compilation of all the videos.....Really love the outakes....
"Where do we go from here?"

I don't understand why you didn't attach the plug in box to the stud

A benefit to the backing on the shelving unit is it ties all the pieces together. Kind of like sheathing studs and joists.

Just as good the second time, Matt!
Sitting at work on a slow day and see an upload by The Fixer "sweet"... notices the vid is almost 3 hours "Freaking WIN" Thanks as always Matt!

Oooooh! Yes! I have been missing your uploads! I love your videos!
You are a blessing to your family. Always a job well done and such an improvement to your home and its value! Thank you for helping the rest of us.

Nice 'best of'. I saw all these originally, and was a nice recap all at once. Thanks!
Still professionally done Sir. 👍

Love the use of 1/4 round as cleats. Diy at its finest :)
Simply Amazing.
Perfect.
You did this stairwell remodel and no trips to the ER. That's a win win
ah yeah, here we go!!!!!!!!!!

Everyday is a schoolday in DIY, I enjoy the videos, greetings from Glasgow Scotland...
Light is better on the cooler side since it will be easier to see in the closet space.

not going to lie, mudding looks really satisfying.

I laughed out loud when you straightened the screw. OCD people would be pleased! 🇨🇦❤️
I can see that you’re self taught , very humble like I am . We even have the same tools and tricks to working in older homes, looks great!!
Love the red Boiler switch cover got the same
Very nice rehab. Maybe add rubber grommets to those power cord holes you did, not only does it protect the power cords, but give the holes auch more polished look.
You have the absolute best video. You explain everything which is so nice.
I just love how you explained everything simple and clear thank you for your videos
Ummmm sir, just wondering if your wife is missing her favorite kitchen knife ?. .😄 love your channel. Thank you for sharing. 🔨🙂
57:33 The Fixer project manager was checking to see how things were going ❤
Beautiful paneling AND wallpaper! 😅 🪜🪵🔨
Love your dog. Great video🎉

Great video, you tape almost the same way I do, except the straits are first and I use a 12" trowel for the lefty. I subscribed, Keep 'em coming!
fun to watch, i have a touch of OCD and this is gratifying. thanx
Such a fresh look! had a great time watching this. :)
Wow, neat work 👏 👌
Sabding sponges are great and remember they can be washed easily without losing grit...
Watched to the end. Great job!!
Absolutly great video!
Great job and loved the video 😘👍🏻💕
Very informative im anxious to see it done bravo great job❤️🇨🇦
Sweet.,.. thank you for sharing
Awesome video.
Thanks!
Thank YOU! 😁

Super 👍👍👍
I am so glad I watched the end because I thought you were almost perfect. Close to it though? 😅
Very helpful.
I was told by a Ben Moore painter to wet the roller first before painting. It takes care of f fuzz.
Your awesome thanks!
Wood paneling 🥺 I miss the old days
I can't believe how many materials were in this tiny space.
Love it

what kind of ruler are you using that you can slide a knife through called?
The Fixer 👍
How long did it take for you to drywall the entire area? You work really fast. I think you did a terrific job of mudding.
How did you learn to do all these trades? I wish you lived near me, I would keep you busy in more than one house!
rewatched for the bloopers haha
Is that a hot water pipe you're running those wires next to?
saw this all fhis the time.
Great work on the shelves it had some writing on them what did it say
On the old shelves?
@@TheFixerHomeRepair yea on the old shelves. Written in red
Wicked Job Man!
Where do you get your hockey shirts?
Great to see paneling gone
For a small space, there is a surprising amount of material to remove.
I know! It stacks up so quick!
You can fiks it in plads with som Thing string and smalle nails then it is fixs in plads
That wallpaper looks like very dated old Christmas wrapping paper😂
As a 136 year old woman I don't find this particularly relevant to my interest but imma keep watching anyway.
Please wear eye protection. Great video!
Any links to the shelving units?
Hey! I got these at Target. Here is a link... www.target.com/p/5-shelf-bookcase-white-room-essentials-8482/-/A-54360637
Thanks for watching!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair Thank you!!
What brand paint are you using here? You said it is really good paint!
Hey! It is Benjamin Moore Regal Select. The color is "iced cube silver" by the way. 😁 Thanks for watching!
try using a spray water bottle with mud that's setting up
just need a trap door and its perfect!
When I apply mud, I usually get more on myself and the floor than on the walls.
🤣 same
lmao you and your wife are hilarious
Why would someone cover up built-in shelves and then add shelves in the same area that they already had them? I prefer the built-ins.
Rerun?
Compilation. 😬👍
Sad for those who didn't watch to the end for that sweet cord hider box.
