- This time we're checking out that X-Men Origins Wolverine game that is way cooler than you'd expect it to be (also X-Men Origins Wolverine is a pretty fun movie I'll argue with anyone who disagrees even though it's very dodgy) thanks.

I played the PS2 version first, I remember beating in like 12 hours and I remember the final boss being stuck in a t-pose.
He was establishing his dominance over wolverine
Slow Vacation maybe the boss just wanted to show you some Jesus
i remember T.T
Played the ds
Wii for me lmao😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Imagine the people who bought the game first THEN saw the movie? Man, they musta been crushed.
Howdy partner
Christopher Marlowe LMAOOOO
I played the game first before watching the movie, the movie is good but the game is even better.
Nah, I liked the movie, just not as much.
I saw the movie first as a kid and after that I played the demo on my uncles ps3. Man I wasnt ready for that bloody cinematic.
Never stop making these disturbing thumbnails please.
Let's just change the movie to make Deadpool hand Wolverine the game the entire time
I only started watching this channel becuase of the thumbnails haha
First time I saw this movie it was an illegal unfinished copy. You could see the strings pulling the actors, green screens at some points, and the polygon rendered versions of the special effects (literally with no added detail). Shit was hilarious lol
beenblack90 yo fr dude! 😂I got it from this dude who called himself “movie mike”
@@bubbagonzales3468 thats hilarious, I got it from my cousin whose name is Mike lol
I also saw it like that lol I remember reading a statement from Hugh Jackman saying that the final movie was totally different from that bootleg copy that got out, shit was the same but with the final sfx.
Wtfff me too!
This is the only version of the film I’ve ever seen to date. It wasn’t too bad until the final fight in the film was just wireframe models haha.
This game was actually fucking fantastic. The ending was hard too. But being able to leap at enemies and shred them apart. It was great
No part of the game was hard except MAYBE the Gambit fight!
KingAJGames really? That part was fine, I only had trouble with Deadpool at the end but after the third or fourth try I got him
@@angelomordini6779 yeah that was the only time I died in my hard mode playthrough and even that was stupid because I pressed the wrong button not paying attention and fell down when he glow the letter purple and stuff and I was ONLY using my fist
I remember playing a demo and being very impressed with the damage/healing mechanic.
His skeleton shining through after a hunk of muscle was ripped away felt like a new step in graphical capability.
My favourite thing about the game is the dlc. I'd put in the immortality cheat and set a bunch of sentinels to attack me. The comic book costumes would show his skeleton from the waist up.
“Giant robot?” ... It’s a sentinel. Comic book nerds, calm down, it’s okay.
My exact reaction.
Nah, I'm pretty sure it was Iron Man.
@@NovaPrima Iron Man in Wolverine-buster suit :v
Thank you

Loved this game. Also the 360 version was a lot better. This game is from the era when UE3 was a complete mess on ps3
I have to completely agree. Ps3 back then for alot of developers was a major hassle. Just look at gabe n from valve and how he talks about the issues with developing games for the ps3 and thats on the source engine.. . I do remember playing the 360 version and it having memory problems or fps drops but not as bad as the ps3
@@brolyrules14 I'm PlayStation over xbox any day but I must admit ps3 definitely had some drawbacks for that exact reason it wasnt very dev friendly luckily ps4 became dev friendlier. I put so much into skyrim back in the day and ps3 was the worst version after the mb on your save capped a certain number. I heard the 360 version of many shared titles were superior.
It's just the developers didn't know how to work with the ps3's complex hardware. The PS3 was a beast if put in the hands of the right developers.
Iron Fist - Despite that, i stuck by the PS3 throughout the whole generation.
@@Bestgameplayer10 ps3 is probably my favorite console of all time because it has ps1 entire library with ps2 library whether backwards compat, digital or HD remaster and it has its own great stand alone ps3 titles category. Def worth sticking with the whole generation.
13:20 I always wanted a game where you could smash through shelves of a grocery store. This would be it if it wasn't so choppy, maybe it's just the PS3 version. Also since this came out 2009 there's hardly any color.
Hey RebelTaxi, long time no see.
Yeah what's up with 2009 games and terrible color grading
And because it came out in 2009 the bloom is turned up to Blooming Insane
-ValeforXD
@@cybercop3108 2009..around that time, we were moving into the "dark colors and more blood, and depression means MORE REALISTIC" time.
It's when people started to say stuff like that. "Its more realistic cause its 'DARK'"
I've been watching Asian movies most of my life and heroes get depressed and die a lot. What you think would be a good ending usually turns out bad. The horrors of the world is shown. But they have great balances as well.
But in America. We started around 2007 or so..and by 2008 everyone thought "dark" meant more realistic.
And wash up colors means "this ain't that sunshine and rainbows game. No. We're DARK"
Look up Minotuar in A Chinashop
This was the silver age of Raven Software: this game, Quake 4, Wolfenstein, Singularity. Not as good as the golden age (Heretic, Hexen, Jedi Outcast, Elite Force, Soldier of Fortune), but still pretty damn good. And then Activision happened...
Ghost81 people give EA a lot of shit and rightfully so but Activision is also a shit castle as well.
Ah soldier of fortune...... waking up at 4am as a 5 year old to keep replaying the subway mission and pistol everyones limbs off, good times lol
there wolfenstein was a pretty bad game
You win the award for weirdest thumbnails I’ve ever seen, I thought Gameranx had the weirdest ones but yours are just so weird. Great review dude!!
Ik they never put effort into it and the thumbnail is old and weird looking
Gaming XP idk they can get pretty weird, that’s just me I guess
That henchman gets the award for weirdest thumb.
The fact you called the Sentinel a giant robot made me crease haha
9:20
That is a VERY accurate assumption. I did get the movie on Blu-Ray back in the day, and one of the deleted scenes was an alternative choice Logan made at the end of the film to remove his memories using this weird dohickey machine, and this is the scene that's oddly copy/pasted into the video game.
Imagine a remastered version of this game with better graphics and more graphic gore mechanics.
i would totally buy it!! :D
Yep.. I would also buy it :)
Yeah... Disney...not gonna happen...
That said remasters outside square enix japan never add new stuff... Just ramp up the resolution and scale few textures or just use the PC port.
@Gat
The character rights are owned by disney, and fox owns the cinematographic rights and probably related merchanise ...
But the big question now is "is fox owned by Disney? Will be owned soon?"
still don't understand how people can _enjoy_ blood all over the place
I loved this game so much when it came out. I loved movie games and my mom didn't care it was rated M because it was X-Men. So awesome. Great review.
You are lucky you didn't play the PS2 version...
I played it...
And I completed it...
Same here. I remember graphics being way worse than they are in the video. My cousin who saw me playing this was really dissapointed in me.
I feel you...
You deserve a Medal of Honor
Still fun as shit
I had fun with PS2 version and thought it was decent until I watched someone plays the Xbox360 version at the nearby game store.
That moment when you remember how *good* this game is, with a shoestring budget and less than 1 year development time. And then remember how poor the Deadpool game is, with a development time equivalent to GTA5 and a budget higher than GTA5.
Because of deadpool we don't have a sequel to transformers fall of cybertron.
Holy shit I thought you were joking.. $100M budget! Those must have been *some* coke benders..
This game had less than 1 year of development? Wtf, this is one of the best hack n slash out there, treyarch was brilliant...
@@FearGivesWings it had 2 1/2 years of development and treyarch didn't make it, Raven did
One quick correction for the comment on feral vision 10:52 . Arkham Asylum didn't drop until months after this game. Feral vision was actually lifted from a previous wolverine game, X2: Wolverine's Revenge.
I remember going to a friend's house to play it, because my PC couldn't run it. :D
A new wolverine game just announced for ps5! Perhaps it will take influence from this game like the new spiderman games take influence from the og spiderman 2 movie game
Hugh Jackman’s growls never get old
Good ol' Raven Software, turning crap in gory gold
It was certainly a fun game and I think they should've been the ones who worked on the Deadpool game. Or another Wolverine game that wasn't so tied to the movie. In fact, the game gets the most interesting when it breaks away from it. The boss battle against the Sentinel was just awesome. A shame Raven now just does COD stuff because, with a bit more time and polish, a sequel to Wolverine or a similar game starring Deadpool would be a great game to fill the void left by the old God of War games when the series decided to try something new (and great, in my opinion. It's different but awesome like how pizza and burgers are both awesome in their own right but one is hardly a replacement for the other).
It rubs me up the wrong way that the comparatively not very good Deadpool game references the Origins game sometimes. He'll tell you to "go play Wolverine instead" every now and again when you die, pretty obviously about Origins since it was trying to emulate it
I love playing as the brown or yellow suited wolverine... as ive wanted those suits to be on screen since seeing the first film in theaters.
Yes, i wanted yellow spandex, Cyclops.
The violence, regeneration, etc made this feel like the first true game starring him..
"the best there is at what he does" is actually one of wolverines main catchphrases.
Too bad they couldn't fix deadpool for this one
they had to wait Reynolds to fix him
@@DeadPollo Reynolds played him in the Wolverine Origins film.
AstrosGamer
But Reynolds’s was given more responsibility to create the the new films, and hated the portrayal in wolverine.
I didn’t mind this deadpool
dont have too he was awesome
The future segment was supposed to be Days Of Future Past
What you mean? That came out like 5 years later or was Daybof Futue Past directly based on a comic
@@THOMAS2910able 🤦♂️You're seriously asking me that?
@@smithwesson1896 don't know much beyond the movies man.
@@THOMAS2910able ignorant as fuck
@@THOMAS2910able Days of Future Past was based off of a comic storyarc of the same name. Every x-men movie has been an adaptation of one or more comic storylines with original elements tossed in as well. Even Origins Wolverine is based partially on two specific storylines(it's also one of the least accurate to the comics movies alongside of first class and the first x-men movie).
man your channel is my fave to listen to after a long day at work awesome vids bro keep em coming
The psp had a strong port, then again I was 12 the last time I played it so good luck
14:40
Then you must LOVE prototype and new vegas
Great piece on a very interesting game! I love to hear your take on these since you were young when you first played them and I was already an old man. Awesome work, man.
thanks :)
The demo for this game on my ps3 had gotten constant attention when I was young. I wish I had the money back then to actually play the whole thing.
the thumbnail is art
"They have this thing called Feral Vision which is just ripped straight from Arkham Asylum." This game came out in May 2009. Arkham Asylum came out in August 2009 :)
You had something similar in spiderman 3 movie tie in game. And that came in 2007
How's it ripped straight from Arkham Asylum if you just said that Arkham Asylum came out 3 months AFTER this one?
@riseofthebrah wow what?
It is scary how perfect that fast food analogy is
I have good memories of this. It was such a pleasant surprise to be so fun to play it.
I been waiting for freakin ages for dis minimme video i tell ya!!!!!!
Great video, never got a chance to play this game! The game looks incredibly violent for the time hahaha. BTW SECOND and great thumbnail as always!!
You making me wanna replay this game.
I remember playing it without expecting much and was highly entertained, definitely an underrated gem.
First time I played it for 360 I fell in love. It was so awesome. A wolverine game that felt like you were actually wolverine. Not just another beatemup but you dismembered and impaled baddies with claws and used his rage to eviscerate everything.
It's just such a fun game, so much fun to let off some steam and run around chopping bad guys to bits.
I'd love to see you talk about X Men Legends.
Interesting games.
Digital Foundry is rolling in it's grave about the game's framerates.
I played this when i was 4 and loved it, the cut scene at the start and was just my favorite game ever
I love the way you review this game, and others. It brings me back!
Check it, in the sabertooth boss fight in the bar if you smash the jukebox you get one of a couple of songs. One of them sounds suspiciously like the office jukebox in Devil May Cry 3 in the first mission.
Ooh yeah, we totally want an in depth follow up on the other versions!! Especially the one for PS2 sounds super interresting imo! :D
I was 7 when I played this, couldn’t get past sabertooth at the begging my grandmother thought this game was rated T
I miss Raven Software. The X-Men Legends games are my childhood (well the first didn't get 2 until I was like 18) & I remember enjoying the Wolfenstein game they made. You know with GOG re-releasing the Soldier of Fortune games digitally last year, I wonder if them & Activision will work together to bring back the other Raven Software games like all the X-Men ones & Wolfenstein (09) as I'd love to play them again & try X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Ps: Great video as always.
I love your channel, your style and accent haha, I hope someday you gain more subscriptions!.
I remember the psp version of this game. I loved the fact that it was broken as hell and one of the bosses didn’t even hurt me. Just... followed me.
It's nice to know something good came out of that shit film 😁👌
Hey! I kind of liked it
Good movie. Bad ending. Kinda made you forget how good the movie was
@@agonleed3841 it was a bad movie overall...
@@112523 but..it wasn't.
You COULD say it was a bad adaptation..but then you'd also have to forget wolverine had a few spins in comics. And you could view the movie as one.
Either way, the movie wasn't bad. Just shouldve been R rated for my taste and they fucked over deadpool.
I'm 34 and grew up with the comics. Yet I cam still appreciate that movie. That whole argument of not understanding the comics and movie adaptations means nothing to me when it comes to wolverine
@@agonleed3841 I like my movies when they're well scripted, directed and acted. Origins is just a badly put together film, it has nothing to do with it being an adaptation.
This game was absolutely fantastic, very underrated but man was that Platinum Trophy a chore...
Love these kind of videos
I remember this game having a 3D option, I didn't ever try it. This video makes me want to go back and try that now
Played the PC version and could not stop it. Hacking and slashing people to dead while watching Logan regenerate his flesh was awesome.
Man I used to love playing this game when I discovered it (always on pc btw). The regeneration mechanics are absolutely badass. I was always very confused by the story as I didn't even see the movie, but hearing about the FOX deal makes sense.
Now i hope for a video on the PS2 port, its a more PG game and doesnt have the africa parts
Which is stupid
I played this game soooo much. It was so ahead of its time, and it gave us the gritty, gory, more violent Wolverine we always wanted. The cutscenes were insanely cool. It had dismemberment, and then the fucking coolest part, seeing Logan riddled with holes from bullets and slashes from swords, only to heal before your eyes as time progressed.. I loved this game, hell if they remastered it and kept those aspects, I would 100% buy it again
I loved this game at the time when it was released (still today) simple and extremely fun. The story was a thousand times better than the movie (it was not too complicated either) and we quickly became a fully invincible killing machine once all the skill to the maximum.
You have one of the best UA-cam’s man. No political bs on your channel just nostalgia and looking back on fun games from the time when games were just meant for fun
Firstly, there were always games that were made just for fun and games made to be something more. That isn't something that changed.
2007-2009 had X-Men Origins, but it also had Metal Gear Solid 4 and its whole story on the economic reliance of war. Assassin's Creed with its story on how cults and religion dictate behaviour. Fallout 3 and its whole deal with nuclear war... and many many more.
And fun fact, the X-Men themselves were created as an allegory for the 60's civil rights movement (the whole protection for Mutants) so to pretend politics doesn't exist is a little silly
Fraser Souris Dude I’ve played bioshock I get your point. I just meant that this guy has a solid channel that doesn’t have to do with political bs. He just reviews games for fun
@@georgeparkinson1314 appreciate this comment man :)
minimme keep on doing it buddy! I watch your content weather I care about the game or not.
That robot battle was a fight WITH A SENTINEL
I think this was my first or second game I got a platinum trophy in for my PSN trophy list xD :) that was so fun! My first platinum was from Assassin's creed 2 I believe :)
Man this brings so many memories from 2009💯🔥
The thumbnail just keep getting better and better
Ah, that "history of violence, if you will" statement flew as low under the radar as this entire game did. Oh, and this is fhe first video I've seen of yours. I doubt I need to tell you to keep doing good work, but, dammit, keep it up.
I’ve olayed about an hour of this after watching your review and buying it and it’s awesome! Like it’s really addictive
Okay .. I'm loving your channel please review all old games like this..

Will do, thanks :)))
I loved this. the lunge mechanic reminded me of legacy of kain blood omen.
Crazy cuz i was literally looking to purchase this for 360 like the past 2 days and out of nowhere this vid just pops up in my feed. Confirms my desire to replay this game lol
I loved this game and have been waiting for it to be brought to xbox one
Saw a demo of this at NYC Comicon.
Got a foam wolverine claw.
Ha! When I was 13-14, the Wolverine game to play was X2: Wolverine's Revenge, and I absolutely loved it the same way you love this game!
Tho this makes me think like you aren't kidding about it being a GoW clone xD
Excellent video.
I remember getting this for $10 at an EB Games because the movie had come out, it was bad and the game wasn't selling. It was a pleasant surprise. You didn't mention the Sentinels though!
this game had amazing graphics for it's time i remember being hype as hell playing this as a kid the nostalgia is real
The PC port is amazing. This was the first "proper" game I played when i was young. I had a super low-end PC for the time, and this game used to slow down to around 5-10 fps whenever there's water in the scene.
That game is like a golden gem i bought it just cuz' i like wolverine but DAMN i got hooked to it a lot
My favorite foot man is back at it with the great reviews!
The PS3 and 360 Wolverine game is surprisingly good. As was the case with Singularity, also from Raven Software.
Just played through this again. It's still fun.
Would love to see the other versions covered
That wasn't Magic Mike. That was John Carter.
These thumbnails are outa control 😂😂
When they were working on the game they finished when the movie was originally finished but when they were doing reshoots they took time to polish up the game and made this masterpiece
Lovely review

That's not just any old giant robot son. It's a goddamn Sentinel. Mutant hunters.
I still remember this as the first ever Marvel game that my parents wouldn't initially let me play since it was too violent for my age. With all the Marvel video games aimed towards kids with Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 and all the Spider-man games you can probably imagine how thrown back I was by not receiving permission.
Still a great game. Goes to show that not all movie-licensed game share the same fate.
I played this on my pc when I was 13 , wow it brought some memories back
My Favorite move has to be when you lunge on someone, but instead of the jump kill, you begin just slicing them up while still on top, the sound is just so satisfying.
Idk why but there was a bug on my ps3 that made mashing for the quick time events super hard.
I could never finish the game untill i got it on PC.
8 years later.
Same Thing happened with me at the sentinel QTE when you have to pull the piece off its chest,Loved the game and so dissapointed i never got to finish it
It's on PC too. And from what I remember it didn't have framerate issues there, even though my PC was painfully average.
These old Gen games(ps2/ps3 and Xbox/Xbox 360) should get remastered for the switch. I'd love that.
I don't know how I just found this channel.
Woke up thinking about this game this morning because I had the demo back in the day, then this came up on my recommended. Spooky.
I remember playing the demo on my 360 and enjoying the hell out of it.
I love how they precisly indicate the location at 1:41.
I remember playing the demo on 360 and wanting to play the game. If it ever comes out on xbox one backwards compat, ill definitely buy it.
"activisions raven software" those words still cut deep
Love the channel
The PS2 version is different. For example, Bob fight was in the ring
I can't wait for the Wolverine game coming up!
