Cool video man, its a fast method for building hulls. Get a mask and googles for grinding fiberglass or you'll no be long for this earth - shit is nasty to breath in.
Going about it ass backwards. You build a boat -- make it the plug. Pull your mold off the plug. When ready to build another boat wax the inside of the mold (which is smooth). Lay a coat of gelcoat on the inside - let it get tacky - spray or lay your fiberglass in layers. When hardning is complete fill mold with water and the boat haul pops out with a smooth finish which is already gelcoated to the color you want. Then run your stringers and finish boat.
Mate these look like there in the middle of Africa I doubt there spraying or waxing anything you seen there way of stopping the build from getting to hot & masking tape to stop it sticking haha yes it's a shoddy way but for what resources they probably have its quite a decent build so maybe stop and think about others before you comment your bullshit as not everyones blessed

Yes. Fiberglass the outside of the wooden boat. Sand until really smooth. Wax the haul. Spray gelcoat onto the waxed haul - while tacky spray several layers of fiberglass chop onto the gelcoat. )What they are doing in this video is ass backwards.) You will need to have provided a spot to hook your hose up to the mold. When the mold you have created is hardened fill it with water and the boat will pop free. Now you have mold of that boat haul. When you are ready to build boats just wax the inside of the mold and reverse the process. Lay a coat of the gelcoat in the color you want the haul onto the mold, wait till tacky. Spray sevrral layers of "chop" fiberglass onto the gelcoat. )You will need to put an outer frame on the mold to give it strength. ( When the new haul is dry hook the hose to the fill connection (on bottom of mold) and pop the new haul out. (First run your stringers in the haul and braces across the haul.) Proper way of building a good, strong fiberglass haul. In Lafitte, Louisiana they build boats for shrimping and dredging oysters from 25 feet to 55 feet with this method.
@@thomasritter3159 Wow thanks for your reply...couple of follow up questions if you don't mind...where exactly do you put the hose with water...in the wooden boat or between the mold and the wooden hull...and also is there a way not to fiberglass the wooden hull in the process as i wish to leave it as it is since it is a functional boat...cheers Ed

I never thought of using masking tape to release the fiberglass from the mold. Great.
how many layers of fiber glass did you lay on it sir?
what number of layers of fiberglass is necessary to obtain this result?
Release wax is the same price as a single roll of tape. Works better actually.
Pva is also cheaper than a roll of tape.
