How to Crochet a Seamless Circle in a Square Granny Square

- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Hi Everyone!
This tutorial will go over how to crochet a seamless looking circle in a square granny square! If you're familiar with this square then the only thing different will be how I start and end my rounds. I change it up just a little so that there is less of an obvious line running up the circle. This gives it a tighter and neater looking appearance.
You can find the written pattern for this square on my website: www.nautikrallcrochet.com
Yarn: worsted weight scraps!
Hook: 5mm
Happy Crocheting :)
Absolutely INCREDIBLE tutorial!! I have been crocheting for 15 years and sometimes I forget how to do the basics and I have never in my life crochet a better circle granny square--thank you!!!
I love how you explain what you are doing and why. Thanks. 😊
This is absolutely the BEST tutorial I've seen. Thank you so much. You are an excellent teacher.
One of the best tutorials i've watched on granny squares so far. Thankyou!! ❤️
I wish I could like this a bunch of times. This is a great square. I've wanted a no holes square and this is it. This is a FANTASTIC tutorial that's so easy to follow and see where the stitches go!
I love the way you crochet and explain everything and your shortcuts as well. Brilliant ❤
I'm so glad I'm finally seeing someone else doing exactly what I do when crocheting in the round. I hate slipping into that one stich and only into the back part of the loop? Madness. I always do it just like this. I do NOT chain 3 for a double crochet set. Only two as u do. I connect to that top chain and through the entire chain as u do. And then crochet the last stitch into the place that feels wrong but looks great once done! I had to figure out this way when trying to make round facial pads that I was pleased with. I hated the way they looked until I started tweaking and ended up with this process.
I really thought I was just never going to figure out the stitches. Thank you so much for this tutorial. Only one I found after hours of searching for days on end🤩
Me too!
I made one for my sweater of many squares, with the intention of making a smiley face, but it came out so well I'm not even going to embroider over it, 10/10 tutorial
thanks so much. the first one was a horror. but I figured out what I was doing wrong. second square is better. am mad for granny squares. sweet of you to patiently explain these steps. i love your soothing explanations. Queen of Crochet!
I SO appreciate the tip of using the tail to make one stitch!!
You are an absolutely amazing instructor!!! Superb video!!! Thank you!!!
Oh my goodness!!!! What a difference it makes to go into the 3rd chain when finishing the circle 😍😍😍😍😍😍 thank you 🙏 I always hated those little holes !!!! So glad I watched your tutorial ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! I've tried figuring out several written patterns for this block, but they've always turned out wonky. This is PERFECT!!
I saw your tutorial its very clear and slowmo thats why i know how to do not like the others , and i will follow your patterns coz i'm very like it, thank you and god bless, i'm from Philippines.
Very very helpful! I was able to complete mine on the first try! You're awesome! :)
Thank you for the tip about where to join. That’s brilliant!!
Thank you for this tutorial! I also join in the top not the chains ! I am going to tackle a blanket with this !
Found this pattern today thank you your tutorial was so explanatory. Half finished a blanket already.
You're very welcome!! Good for you!!!! Happy crocheting!
@@nautikrallcrochet i love love your tutorials, thank you so much!! Would you please consider doing the join as you go round on the circle to square? Thank you so much for all the time you put in to making your videos, they are excellent!
Thank you for sharing your talents! What a difference a small adjustment can make in the look of the finished product.
Yes this is the best tutorial I have seen. I am in Australia and I use the UK system so this was a bit confusing at times until I realised the names for stitches are different. Anyway, the square has turned out beautifully. Thank you so much.
Very nice tutorial. You are so very pleasant to listen to! ❤
Great video! Your instruction was easy to understand and to follow. Thank you!
life saver. I made a traffic cone and didn't like a base pattern and was looking how to square off the round base! Thanks!
This is what I’m doing. Did you find the problem?
Love this. Could make a 3-row flower in the middle then do the granny stitch the rest of the way. I like the no-holes look. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Love that idea!!!
I have just recently stumbled across your UA-cam channel and I am loving your tutorials! I am however finding this pattern on your blog. Thank you for inspiring me to get back into crochet :)
I just began learning granny square, mine always end up in a circle! I am saving this video!
Thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been trying and failing for a week to make a circular granny square and this way fixes the problems I was having!
Awesome directions.
Merci pour ce tuto..les explications sont claires et ingénieuses.. facile à suivre..un résultat impeccable 😊
Very helpful dear thanks again ❤
Great tutorial, easy to follow.
Great video with lots of useful techniques that I can’t wait to try! The only thing that I wasn’t sure about was crocheting over the tail - I saw another video where the tail was worked into part of the stitches that looked to be more secure. Thank you so much !
Forgot to say that I hope you will do a video on continuous joining as I’m sure you have great techniques for that too! Thank you.
Ignore my last comment on continuous join because when I subscribed I can see that you do have videos on the topic! Thanks.
Thank you for the great, easy to follow tutorial!
Your tutorials are great!!!! Could you posssibly make one on turning a granny square into a circle? I've tried to find one but there's genuinely 0 guides on this :[
This is so cool about the join. I'm always confused when it says to join at the chain stitch because there's nothing there to attach it to if that makes sense. As a newby it takes me forever to figure this stuff out. Thank you soooo much.
excellent video.thank you for going all the way around.. So many stop and say now do this and I'll meet you back here, and you don't even know what to do.. Very good video.
you're very welcome :) glad it was helpful! happy crocheting :)
Absolutely love this. Thank you!
THANK YOU ! making my bf a panda pillow for xmas
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I don't know anyone that crochets and was thrilled that I could tap into your tutorial. I have been struggling with a pattern for a circle in a square and getting very frustrated. I am crocheting along with you and its making sense now. I live in Australia and I guess you might be in Canada?? Small world isn't it? Many thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing 😊
Thanks for the video. It was really helpful
Loved this! Working on a blanket now. Is there a video for the “join as you go,” for these types of granny squares?
Just subscribed to your channel! Great granny square and you explained it perfectly 💜💜💜
Really lovely square and excellent tutorial. I love your idea of going in to the top of the first double crochet rather than the chain 2. It looks lovely this way. Thank you P.S. Do you have a join as you go tutorial please?
Thanks!! I have several join as you go tutorials on my channel. Click on “videos” to see everything available ☺️
Really great tutorial. Please tell me what is the finished measurement. I need mine to be 6 inches square. Thanks
Hi, I love your way of teaching!
You’re very easy to understand.
Can you continue with the square and make it bigger?
I’m just wondering if it will work out & continue to be a square.
Thanks!! Yes you absolutely can! You can go on forever if you wish!

Thank you 😊
I love this! Subscribed😊
How would I do a third round of the square if I wanted it to be bigger? This tutorial is so helpful!!
I love this!!! Can you keep making the circle bigger then square off at your desired size????
Yes you can! There are a few patterns out there for varying sizes of circles. Some even out all different sizes in their blankets. Creates a gorgeous effect!
How do I work out the stitches to square off a larger circle? I can't make sense of the numbers. Should I just increase the number of single crochets by 3 each side for a circle of 36 stitches? I love your tutorial it makes the circle so neat ❤
I love tight stitches I’ll do this next and thank u
Great tutorial! Thank you…. What size are your squares? I need to make 5” squares to contribute for children’s charity event. What do you suggest! Down size hook or crochet less rows? Big thanks!!
if I wanted to continue with the circle, do I continue doing every other stitch with two double crotchets and the rest with one?
Really like your teaching style…and thank you for the weaving ends technique..love it…I have a stack f squares..no ends to do….would this only work with squares you’re going to join?..or would that come out on a regular side?…I gues a sc border prep row would lock it in?
Great question! The sc border would lock it in!! It’s perfect 🥰- I do it every time!
For some reason I keep getting 13 stitches instead of 15 for the final rows of the square! I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong 😂😂 ty though for this tutorial, it’s super easy to follow!!
I enjoyed your tutorial. I tried searching for the pattern on your website, but I couldn’t find it. Can you provide a link?
Excellent thank you
Hi! Does anyone have a pattern for this? I'm a beginner and have followed the tutorial twice but wondering if there's a pattern so I don't need to keep rewatching the video! Really grateful for this tutorial. Super clean looking outcome & great to follow along.

how do you count if you want to make it over a round placemat; i adore you style and you're tutorial is so great
Thanks for the great tutorial! I’ve been trying to figure out how to turn a 5 round circle (60 stitches) into a square like in this video but I just can’t get it right. Could you or someone else tell me please?
i am going to try to modify this for a round blanket i started. its really more of a practice piece for me. im very new to corchet, but know how to loom knit and trad kniting.
Hello I love this I'm doing a blanket .I want to join as I go do you have a tutorial for that.Thank you ❤
Say I wanted to make larger circles how would I work out the measurements for the square?
It would be helpful if you write above how many double trebles you add on each round, thanks 😊
This was so helpful. Thank you :)
Absolutely love this! Thank you so much 😊
How would this scale for larger circles with more rounds? As the distance from the 'corner' of the circle to the top edge would get larger as you scale up?
Would you have to increase your 'corner stich' by a 'half-stitch' for each round? double crochet > half triple crochet > triple crochet > half quadruple cr, etc? I feel like there is some maths to it...
THANK YOU!!!
I am new to your channel Thank you for sharing you stitches step by step. Your circle ⭕️ i it’s so neat. What are you making?
Your squares are amazing. Can you do a square with 3d effect please😁
It' like a square in a corner with several frames
Questions: Is there a pattern that can be used for different size circles? I am trying to square up a 336 stitch circle that is 30". I want to create a 40" Square/ Baby Blanket. I figured that # stitches ÷4 (336÷4=84)=4 corners 2 tr ch1 2tr,
84 -1 = 83 ÷ 2 = 41 +1 (1 = center) 41 ÷ 5 = 8 +1
Row(1) # trc 8 , # dc 8, # hdc 8, #sc 8, #sl st 9, #sc 8, # hdc 8, # dc 8, #trc 8. Is that correct? All comments are welcome! Thank You Renae
Thank you
Do you have the written tutorial to go along with this video by any chance? I checked your website but couldn't seem to find it ❤
May I please ask what brand/color the yarn you're using is?
Thank you for sharing
You’re very welcome!! Happy crocheting ❤️
Hello,, greetings from Brazil.! I am using a much bigger circle ( for a cushion project) . To turn it into a square I should Just do 3 or 4 times the number of half double and sing crochet stitches ( proportionally) or is there another way to adapt?
I’d like to make a pillow cover with a large circle and then finish off with a few rows to make it square. Is that possible? And if so, how do I begin that first round to switch from circle to square?
I want to change color for each round ! any tips?
Hello, love your tutorials.. can I use bulky yarn and a 9 mm crochet hook with this pattern? Thanks
Of course!! You can use any yarn with the correct size hook to make this. Happy crocheting ☺️
@@nautikrallcrochet thank you!
Hi, can you tell me if this would be the same for a circle 260 (65 stitches per side) stitches around, just increase the SC between making the corners? Thank you
I have a big huge blanket that i would like to make it into a square one, i have put dc 11 11sc .How can i change the shape of this blanket? Thanks
Is there a tutorial for the continuous join?
How do it buy a copy of this beautiful copy.
Could I do this with magic circle in the middle instead of a chain 4?
can i use your continuous join pattern to join this
I have a MUCH larger circle then this, how would I make it fit?
Can this be done to make cushion covers ?
Hi I've watched you quite a bit.my question is how do you do this aquarelle lefthanded?
Thank you! can this be started with a MR/MC with 12 dc inside instead of the ch 4?
Yes it can!! Just make sure you really sew that end in bc they tend to come undone with magic ring/circles. Best ♥️ M
I just did it and totally see what you mean! Definitely sticking with the chain 4. Thank you for this video. It’s the only one clear and concise and perfect to follow along.
I keep getting 32 stitches for the 3 round. What am I doing wrong?
I cant seem to find the link for the written pattern for this square 😞
Can you send me the written pattern? I could not access your website. Having teoubke with the last round.
Thank you!!! If I wanted to make the square bigger (adding a third row), should I fit 3dc in the corner, chain 3, and another 3dc? Or is it still 2dc, 2c, 2dc?
I would stick with the 2dc, ch2, 2dc!! ♥️
Thanks 💖 I did this yesterday night ✨
personally i prefer to start all of my granny squares with a magic ring but other than this it works out well
Which join as you go method do you use to join these? Thanks!
I used this one:

Where did you get the needle case? It’s so cute!!
Hahahaha-I was just in the shower going “crap! I forgot and someone’s going to ask for sure!”
It’s from a shop called “fireflynotes” on Etsy!!
❤️
@@nautikrallcrochet Haha! Thank you!!!
Could you please slow down when your doing the corners
Yes it’s tidy
I also agree🧶❤️😇
