uh huh....outer condensation of devotion to one's heart's passion, given to another, wrapped in plaid. Someone has to be the velvet backdrop. Lucky us. If any man have an ear, let him hear.
I wish he would put out some instructional material to explain his technique! so unique and it sounds just wonderful... thanks muchly for posting these videos
Thats quite a departure from the 'Beggars Oil' Ive heard. I like it a lot! You know what might be cool . . . a hint of the traditional version thrown in for a measure or two, and then jump back on the new stuff...
second the instructional vid recommendation, its mostly all from the Beggars OIl and Roll Away the Stone albums with the odd bit of Shine Eyed Mr Zen in there. He is very good at making it more approachable in both the fingerstyle and slide videos.
sounds like the key of E for me. capo is in second fret! may be it is not open tuning? but a barritone guitar tuned normally? guess not! but I play a taylor baritone myself! fits exactly in with capo in second fret. but for shure key of E. not D!
Sensation L player, but someone mentioned instructional video.....just learn some classical songs and build your technique, no point trying to copy these great players, its hard work or nuthin...
Go to homespuntapes and search for Kelly Joe Phelps. There are 2 great dvds :)
93.9 the RIver finally played something I haven't heard before. Beauty!!
I love kelly jo. When hes got his guitar in his hands its as if hes in another world.
the raw synergy of soul and talent....exquisite.
I love KJP and always will. He lives his songs when he performs. Can one ask for anything more? Thank you, Kelly!
I just love how he sometimes play his own renditions of his own songs live, not many people could cover themself like he does
Man I miss Kelly Joe. Never even met him, but I miss him bad.
The guy's fantastic, period.
great music easy listening, so relaxing

The original song is actually in Open-C but in this version, KJ obviously plays in Open-D!
Rest in peace, old friend.

~*~ Magic ~*~
agreed! :)
Sometimes it's better to just enjoy and not to ask. Would you ask Picasso how to paint a picture? Accept the gifts we are given.
I've listened to this a million times. Never ever gets old. RIP KJP. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
been suggested elsewhere CGCGCF -capo on 2nd
