Saw them in Shanghai. One of the best sets I've ever seen. Kept playing samples of a Southern Evangelical preacher from the 50s (I guess) between songs; the juxtaposition of their sound and intensity with the preacher's fanaticism created a frenzied state in the crowd. I am now a member of the cult of Metz. You should be, too. Metz is love. Metz is terror. Metz knows what's in the dark parts of your heart.
Dude, literally screw you. I want what you have and I’m willing to go full-corporate ladder, cut-throat sociopath in order to be indoctrinated. Show me how to attain your level of enlightenment and then we can go riding bikes through suburban neighborhoods in white dress shirts, going door to door and screaming the gospel of Metz at everyone who’s been living as heretical philistines and doesn’t know them. Fist fight anyone who already knows them. It’s gonna be a very cool time.
Every once in a while, you will stumble across something on youtube that just blows you away (musically.) This band is just explosive and raw and real. At the moment when you think all is chaos, a melody will come through that relieves all of the tension. These guys play with their hearts in it. Awesomeness. I hear a bit of Steelpole bathtub in it and drumming like it was from a dream that Dave Grohl had. The bass is heavy and crushing and kinetic as hell.
Saw Metz recently. Mind = blown. Live is where its at, they are very engaged during their entire performance. Great interaction and positive response with the audience, too!
@@scipio123 I love both bands I can see the similarities but I might still hold Nirvana when they want to can show more teeth IE Milk It and Endless, Nameless I think Metz may on average be more intense but that's just me
Pretty good. Fans of Shellac and the Jesus Lizard will dig this. So yeah, getting Steve Albini to twist the knobs for this record is kind of a no brainer.
Wellllll.... I think if this band sucked, definitely. They certainly don't score any points for originality, but at least they aren't some white privilege group of hippy goons ripping off psychedelic and 70's soft rock bands and repackaging it as new or original to sell to record-buying hipsters to live out some long-lost, legal-weed induced Summer of Love fantasy. At least these guys are ripping off the right bands.
Man, there was a great metz gig that was recorded last year (I think) at a festival. It was one of the first results when you'd type in "metz live", but now it's gone. I wish I remembered what the festival was called - does anyone know what I'm talking about and how to find it?
@@BurtonsChannel I think you're refering to their at the "This Is Not A Love Song" in France. It was still on dailymotion a few months ago but seems like it's gone there too.

I used to work with the singer at a restaurant. Great guy.
I used to be his barber, he liked when i would comb his hair.
Was he a waiter?
Produced by Steve Albini - makes SUCH a HUGE difference!!
Just saw these guys last night at the Barrowlands in Glasgow supporting Idles. Walked in an Idles fan, walked out a Metz fan too. Very good.
Snap except I saw them in Leeds.
METZ is incredible live. I agree.
Wow... I can't even imagine how killer that show was with those 2 monster bands
0:20 Mr. Plague
2:54 Mess of Wires

12:01 Raw Materials
18:25 Cellophane

HAYDEN IS A FUCKING BEAST BEHIND THAT KIT! Love when these guys play KEXP!
Cheryl, you are such a sweetheart.
One of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Mess of wires is epic. This band is incredible. Go see them live. You will love it!!!!
So much noise from just 3 guys! Freaking Sweet!
not noise but angelic hymns of rock Gods rising
If you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. You will not regret it.
Kolby S Design I don’t regret it but I do regret not wearing earplugs
I'm seeing the two days in a row can I get some good luck
Saw them last year. Absolutely badass show.

I want a drumcam of this band please !
Hayden is so great'
Best performance yet? Those vocals were on point

Watching these guys playing LIVE is overwhelming... I've been full of adrenaline from the first to the last riff.
METZ is Nirvana if their big hit was Territorial Pissings instead of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
they sound like Reuben as well.
Yes, Metz sounds like Nirvana from Subpop but not from Gefen REC)
Very, very well put.
I think it's awfully generous to compare Metz to Nirvana
@@scipio123 I love both bands

Not particularly my kinda music but they sound good and kexp has really stepped up their camerawork. Pay attention to the editing and angles!
Hell yes!!!! Cheryl Waters and METZ; the very best!!!!
Metz is North America's spirit animal.
every good drummer makes a good band
22:24 fuck this fill in the drummer is a beast
That singer sounds like he's from Fugazi. I'll wait for the interview and see...
Thomas Smith think he sounds a bit like Guy P.?
They remind me of a less angular Jesus Lizard. Still pretty damn good.
I still love watching this
great!!!! this guys are a great band, they are pure energy both in studio, as well on stage
Saw them last night at an open air festival in France. Exhilarating!
I never clicked so fast
Cant wait to see them in May, great band!!!
God damn this band is on fire
sounds amazing great job KEXP
Holy shit.
Drummer is a beast
METZ save my ears
Holy crap for some reason I thought those Istanbul cymbals were heavy but look at that flex at 3:17
KS Design watch the video of Mike mangini on Discovery Channel shows his much warp goes on in drums and cymbals.
someone tell the drummer hes not hitting hard enough
Lol he broke his snare drum when I saw them in October
Thats awesome. He's animal for sure. Definitely a great drummer to watch.
He's probably great in bed. LOL
the drummer wants to fuck? yes and he is very good!!!!!!!!!
Oh he is hitting hard enough. The audioengineer at kexp is so freakin good just doesn't seem like it :)
Thanks for the 17:00 rise !
Awesome band
awesome!!!
Been waiting for this one
Victor Gutierrez same af🤙🤙
I second that

Good voice
Would like to see the drummers step count in "Mess of wires".
the perfect band
So tight

Wow ! Fucking amazing band !!
Off the hook live!!!
Отлично METZ ! Субтитры б еще русские.
SAP Eagl12.5 Учи инглиш
Fucking hell. They sound huge! The drummer is a war horse! Is the bass doubled? It’s all so massive for a 3 piece!!
Hello
Rock to :31 then only talking to 12:00 mark , then more Rock

Like a shit version of both bands, with added shite you mean?

I suppose you're right there.....although it sounds more like Nirvana than Jesus Lizard to me, maybe one day they'll make some good music...who knows.
Wish I was as sophisticated as the two of you
great critique dude

Chris O'Neill on lead vocals and guitar
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cal jam 18🤘
Bit of Guy Picciotto in the vocals
With some Shellac bass to boot. Guess that figures with Albini producing.
That part.
Watch this on 144 px and imagine is from 1965.

Bwahahahaaha! What these *three* guys do better than most bands...hello hyped out Idles.
Whats their best album ?
бляяяяяяяяяяяяяяяяяя кайфффффффффффффф
"ANGERY SO MAHC!!!!! PAWAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAARGHHH!!!"
Dave Grohl & Taylor Hawkins would be proud...
Prononce it "Mess" not "MeTssss" please!
MrKoloson1987 ?
A shame that Chris Mettz OD'd before seeing this.
Didn't know Ethan Hawke plays drums. It definetly good to him, because he looks like straight from the Before Sunrise
Every Metz song seems the same to me...
lose the british accent on the vocals, tame the guitar treble way down so it isnt up in the cymbal frequency, write some hits
One of the best live bands I've ever seen.
