    This skimmer is so quite which is rare to find!!! One thing tho, don’t fully open the air valve.. Start with the valve shut then slowly open it until you hear it sucking in air then leave it as that…. You want the smallest micro bubbles for longer contact time….

    I have a 40 breeder and the rim of the tank doesnt alow me to suction unit on. It needs about 1/4" more clearance. The hang mount is also made for a rimless application. What do the rest of us do? Either notch the rim or return the pump.

    I think the major problem with skimmer is the suction cups, every time i try to adjust the skimmer by lifting it, the suction cups will fell off and trying to bring from tight spots is hard. Other than that it works fine

    My sump isn't deep enough to get the water to the minimum water level, in the manual it says you can put it into another container with water? how exactly do you get that to work?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  8 місяців тому +1

      Hello! If your sump does not not offer the minimum water level required for the PS1 Protein Skimmer, adding another container inside the sump with a higher water level may help! This container should be supplied with water either from a dedicated submersible pump or the incoming drainage water from the display aquarium. The container can then be allowed to naturally overflow into the sump. This type of installation will also provide a constant water level for the skimmer! 👍

    Will this fit in my acrylic tank with cutouts? I need it to clear 3/4" from the edge of the tank to the opening of the cutout. If not any suggestions on a skimmer that would fit?

      Please check to make sure the skimmer casing is well closed. The skimmer should not be located in the direct path of a pump or filter.

    Hey my skimmer will fill and the bubbles go up the neck in the collection jar if air is to open is this normal

    • @fluval
      @fluval  2 роки тому

      Hi there! The bubbles should rise up the neck and fall into the collection cup, so it sounds like it's working properly!

    How long does it take for the bubbles to come in the cup

    • @fluval
      @fluval  Рік тому

      It can take up to about a week for a protein skimmer to break in and start working properly. You may need to make some adjustments to the air input and collection cup height as well!

    Can you make a video on what a protein skimmer is and how they work??

    • @fluval
      @fluval  7 років тому +1

      Jake, there are a number of different types of protein skimmers but we thank you for asking. Perhaps we will get a little more specific and cover in more detail how counter current skimmers work and why, request noted.

    I have had the PS1 skimmer for 3 months running fine. I have a Flex 32.5G saltwater tank. All of a sudden I have a huge amount of micro bubbles. When I turn the skimmer off they disappear. Is there anything I can do to rid these?

    Why does the adjustment valve have to be inserted in the lid?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  4 роки тому +1

      That is the air inlet valve, it needs to be kept at the highest point on the skimmer in the event there would be a power failure you could avoid a back siphoning effect if the valve were left at a point below water level.

    • @lolitacooksley7909
      @lolitacooksley7909 4 роки тому

      Fluval Aquatics thanks, so it just has to be above water level it does not necessarily need to be clipped in the lid

    which is the favourite fish food which all fishes like

    • @fluval
      @fluval  7 років тому +1

      That is difficult to answer because of the large varieties in the type of fish feeding behavior, size of mouth and more variables, you would have to be less general with that question.

    I just bought one of these should they be leaking air bubbles outside of the skimmer into my sump

    • @fluval
      @fluval  7 років тому

      Most skimmers will emit some air bubble leakage, simply install an effective bubble trap in your sump.
