Having a burrito in Mexico City is like having a NY style bagel in Miami. Burritos are more northern Mexican food, Mexican food is very regional. Hope you were able to have pambazos, barbacoa, tortas de chilaquil, huaraches, and al pastor, those are more typical for CDMX. 🇲🇽
Other countries might try to replicate a food but sometimes they can't replicate it 100% because the ingredients might be really hard to come by in other states so they have to improvise with what they have.
@@GerardoGarcia-tb7gi Chinese ingredients is not that rare though especially since Mexico is kinda similar in climate to China. I do not live in Mexico though so this is just a guess.
Mixing both salsas you're already eating like a real mexican my friend. For mexican chinese food I recommend you visit Mexicali in the northern state of Baja California.
It's 1:32am here in Albuquerque NM as I watch this, and you can bet I am going to get a burrito tomorrow! Thankfully, there are many places to find a really great burrito here in Albuquerque! Thanks for another great video!
So I'm curious did you wake up and go get yourself a burrito like you said? Lol. I've come back to watch this video for the 3rd time just for that burrito. I live in Southern Cali and like you, we have great Mexican food choices, but I want the one he's having! Me booking a flight to Mexico would make it one expensive ass burrito.
My mom makes a salsa like that she uses Chile Cascabel, Chile Pasilla and Dried Red Arbol Chiles. She makes it in our molcajete (volcanic mortar and pestle), it’s the best thing ever!!!!!!
im born and raised in cdmx and its quite know by us locals that chinatown is not really authentic anymore and rather more than a turists spot (in the sense that chinese inmigrants and actual bussiness are not there anymore) most of the real chinese food is located in the metro viaducto or juarez area so if you ever comeback check those spots up!
Its crazy to me that does Michelin tacos are a thing now. I remember making tacos like this with my uncles here in chicago. We tail gated at soldier field for a mexico vs us soccer game. As men, who really never grilled before, we just brought arachera and tortillas and salt. One uncle brought some jalapeños from hes garden. Man them tacos smacked. We ended up making tacos like that the rest of our lives. The simplicity was the key.
I know! I came back to re-watch this video because of it. I live in Southern California and we have amazing Mexican food, but I want to travel to Mexico City just for this!
My dad used to tell me when eating tacos in Mexico it's common for people to be disappointed in the blandness of the food because they're used to expensive seasonings being used in USA. He told me when someone tried complaining to a chef that the food she got doesn't take like Mexican food he said "You're in Mexico, everything is Mexican."
@@AllTerpsNoBrakessame in Bolivia. The saving grace there was the jahwha. Yes I spelled it wrong I'm sure, but that spicy yumminess will forgive me. 😊
I went to Tacos El Califa de Leon before the michelin star. Incredible tacos, simplicity taken to the next level. Gaonera meat was the best, together with the AMAZING salsas !
The burrito you tried is called Burro Percherón (named after the huge horse breed) because they're so big. They're originally from the town of Hermosillo in the northwestern state of Sonora, just south of Arizona. You should visit Hermosillo and try the best beef and some of the best food in the country.
If you get back to Sydney you should do the Tamalaria in the inner west as well as Frangos, idk if you covered the bahn mi place in marrickville but that place too
I don't really see why the first taco shop would get a Michelin star. The only thing about it was it was serving maybe higher quality cuts of meat. It's also really expensive by Mexico standards. $4 dollars USD for a taco is crazy.
I saw some reviews clowning on that place but i personally think it would be delicious. Its how i love eating tacos anyways when i grill some asada over charcoal. Just a fresh hot slab and fresh salsa taco as you cook. Just
That michelin star taco i saw in some youtube clips.... I hear the moment they got the michelin star, they crank up the price and use less fresh ingredients. Something like that But in the video the taco is clearly fresh. I dont know how this place compares to other taco nearby. I wish mikey walk around and try other places as a test against this michelin place
hi! i live in mexico city! i'ts not unusual that they cook their tortillas right next to the meat, actually its quite common. The fact they were given the star ruffled some feathers among locals saying there are better places. Plus waiting in line for an hour and a half for tacos is crazy
18 mins into the vid, the condiments look bang on !! Great looking salsa Please could you tell me what the deep mahogany one was, it looks like a chipotle or another blend of pepper that has been dried ? Thanks in advance if anyone replies
burritos are like pizza, anything can go in them and can be really really good or mediocre. however once you find a really good version of each then you always remember it and keep going back.
Go to Mexicali in Baja California. It has got the biggest Chinese population in Mexico. Some says its Chinese food and town rivals that of San Francisco. Also, burritos in CdMx aren't a thing. Next time, try pambazos.
I love, love, love your content Sir. No disrespect Sir,would you please consider a different haircut Sir. I respect you to the Highest Level Sir. Thank You for all your wonderful videos. You're the Best!
the tacos you're used to is like a mushroom bacon bbq pickle burger, then you have a regular burger and are like damn thats just how its supposed to be the rest is just for fun
I think you have to remember the Michelin personnel are usually people of a certain pallete. Of course they would like the most basic taco there is out there. Mexicans, like myself, know you need cilantro, onion, and salsa at a minimum, or it's not a real taco. I used to think the Michelin stars were indicators of great restaurants until I went to a few and then I understood that the people rating those places did not have the best palletes.
It might be something similar but Sidral Mundet was created by a Catalan businessman Don Arturo Mundet to be more specific a cork manufacturer, he created the drink back in 1902 🙏🏼
So, the Michelin thing has a story. The Michelin people weren't looking for street food, but they decided to do it last minute, so, they asked the person in charge of tourism or something in CDMX and he gave only five places of reference, so, they only tried 5 taquerías, and apparently, that was the best one.
Had the same experience while going through that Chinatown. No Asians, even the workers and owners. It’s also very small. While the buns were colorful not very savory.

This! The closest to local food was the mixiotes and flautas, a torta de chilaquil from la Suavicrema would've been amazing
Yes at least he enjoyed himself tho!
He had the torta de chilaquiles a fre years ago when he did a colab with Lalo Villlar from LA Rute De La Garnacha
do you know what the burrito place is called? i cant seem to find it even with the adresses in the description

That burrito looks really good...damm!
The first taco place was excellent and love the simplicity, and that burrito looked amazing at 19:00!!
I love how they gave you the burrito you didn’t know you wanted lol
$4 for a taco in Mexico is crazyyyyyyy
In Alabama they sell the tacos for almost 4 and they are horrible
a michelin star taco
yeah, i'm certain there are several places to get good tacos in Mexico City that are just as good as this for way less.
Thanks gringos for gentriying mexico, you are the best of the planet (sarcasm)
The second taco place looks SO much better than the first place, Michelin star or not.
Loved how he was underwhelmed by the Michelin tacos 😂
Where was he underwhelmed? I didn’t see that at all
