I love how we all know what Germany has done without him having to say it. And it's the fact that BMW once put the seat heaters on their cars behind monthly subscription fee.
they caused the Holocaust ok you may be confused so here's what happened : A man named adolf Hitler became the leader of Germany and to be perfect you had to have blue eyes and blonde hair and if you were a jew you were considered bad and evil so they were separated from people they had their own cinema and they all went to a jew school wear they would be given a star to show they're a jew and they would all be sent to a concerntration camp wear they would be mistreated abused and they would have their clothes and best stuff taken away so they would walk bare foot wearing striped pajamas with their prison number on or they would get it tattooed onto their wrist and they would die quickly and if you were caught escaping they would give you a consequence and they would be constantly abused by the nazi hope this helped that's all I know :)
Most of the spiders species in Australia are pretty harmless, most of the big spiders which are like the size of a dinner plate can’t even bite because their teeth size is super small (along with the lack of venom) it’s the small buggers you gotta look out for
I honestly don’t know what’s worse in this sentence as an arachnophobe who’s also highly allergic to spider venom🙂 Even a small bite makes my limb swell up for weeks
I can't tell whether or not I should be upset you sidelined Germany, but considering the likely alternative joke I think I'm just gonna let sleeping dogs lie...
I'm Portuguese and I had never heard of Diogo Alves. I thought you'd mention something about our collapsing government, our very high perceived corruption, our colonial history, specifically in Africa, how our royal family as soon as one of Napoleon's men stepped foot in the country, etc. etc. The point is, you had a lot of options. But I really appreciated all of these neat facts and uh, not so neat in some cases.
Thanks for the comment! So when researching, of course, a lot of history in Europe and Africa revolves around colonialism and corrupt governments. I didn't want to just keep repeating myself. Plus notable serial killers are always cool. Look him up, they still have his head in a jar!
Curious fact from another Portuguese friend! After we caught him, we saved his head for "studying" the mentality of a serial killer or something like that. all i remember is seeing his head on a jar. you can find it on the internet, the images themselves are not strongly nsfw, but weird for sure to see that.

For those who are too scared to look it up : Greek pederasty was a social and educational institution in ancient Greece, particularly prominent from the 7th century BCE onward. It involved a relationship between an adult man (the *erastes*) and a younger boy (the *eromenos*), typically in his teens. This relationship was often characterized by mentorship, where the older man would provide guidance, education, and moral support to the younger boy. The relationship had a strong social and educational function and was seen as a way to prepare the young boy for adult life, teaching him about politics, warfare, and social responsibilities. It was often idealized in Greek literature and art, where it was portrayed as a form of mutual respect and affection. However, the relationships could also have a sexual component, although the exact nature and extent of this is a matter of debate among scholars. The sexual aspect was generally considered acceptable within certain social norms and constraints, though it was expected to be temporary, ending when the boy reached maturity. It’s important to note that this practice was deeply embedded in the cultural and social structures of the time, differing significantly from modern views on age, sexuality, and relationships.
You went to easy on Australia. In the past, the Australian federal government enforced the white Australia policy which severely restricted immigration from countries outside of the British isles.

Ok, quick clarification here: In Denmark we don’t pay 50% in taxes; 52.07% is the absolute Maximum a person can pay in taxes, but most people don’t pay anywhere near that. It’s based off multiple factors, like yearly salary, where you live and even age. A regular middle class worker usually doesn’t pay more than 33% in taxes, but depending on your situation it can also be lower. :3

Hello from Belarus, you have no idea how SUPERSTITIOUS everyone here is, in my 15 and a half years I have heard more of them than mosquitoes in Kenya. A few examples of the most interesting: 1. Spit three times over your left shoulder to ward off trouble. 2. Don't say anything bad about yourself, otherwise it will come true (for example, "I will die if I don't try these chips" and by superstition you will really die or trouble will happen if you don't spit three times over your left shoulder). 3. Do not do housework on Sunday. For example, sewing, washing, or taking out the trash (I don't know why). 4.Take out the trash after 6 p.m. (again, I don 't know ) 5. And the last thing. Do not pass things through the doorway. This is only a small part of what I know, if you are interested, I will post an update. With love from Belarus 😘
Oh most of those things come from slavic beliefs! Doing things outdoors during the night was dangerous and so Slavs created legends about demons attacking you if you do something at night. For similar reason you don't greet/give things though the doorway- home demons (who were good and very important ) could get mad because it was, i think, kind of disrespecting them by not letting somebody into your home. There is important tradition (at least in Poland) that groom needs to take his wife in arms and go though the doorway- so home demons would accept her as part of the house. Not doing the housework is kind of mix pagan and christian beliefs- in slavic culture it is important to rest (there are o lot of legends and deities that punish you for not doing so). Anyway, sorry for my little nerd essay. Love from Poland!
From what I've heard it's bad to give things through the doorway because in older times deceased people were used to be buried under doorsteps (russia)
To be fair, swedish once invaded Poland and successfully took over 99% of Poland. Then they failed to siege a polish closter and whole swedish army went back to Sweden 😂. And moreover, this siege is seen as divine intervention by polish, and the painting of Maria that was inside the closter at that time is a Holy object nowadays

2:41 the Empire of Sweden actually peaked around the start of the great northern war. not only were they fighting Poland but also Russia and Norway. the thing is that Sweden dominated it's closest neighbors, but was eventually defeated.
Hell, I'd say they even successfully invaded Poland by disposing their king and placing a puppet government. Many countries would successfully do this after Sweden did and is why Poland was erased off the map for a while. So I was pretty confused about no one successfully invading Poland. Did he mean Russia lol. Likely what they meant. And Karl XII decided to do a Napoleon before Napoleon was cool and completely stressed his supply lines in winter. Bad choices were made, just not in Poland.

4:55 The US is not paying for any food for the Ukrainians. The EU is providing the majority of economic aid to them + most US millitary aid is spent in the US, and equivalent value from stockpiles sent to Ukraine. The USA gives very little of the money allocated to Ukraine to Ukraine themselves.
More than 75billipn dollars was given to Ukraine from America. While the EU (made up of 27 countries) contribute 91 billion. Personally the US shouldn’t be giving any money to a country that isn’t part of the EU yet here you complain. “How dare the US spend money on their own military”. If this is your attitude maybe Russia should take over Ukraine. At least they will be more grateful.

"Fun" fact about the finnish swastika: It was in fact not chosen for cultural reasons as commonly claimed, but because the founder of the airforce was directly related to a high ranking german Nazi/SA officer and shared his ideology.
Finland adopted that emblem because that guy donated aircraft to Finnish whites during 1918 civil war and those planes happened to include the emblem that was originally his. The guy at the time wasn't ultra radicalized and hadn't met Göring. Swastika still has armost the same meaning but it also has roots in Germanic folklore? Which might be one of the reasons the nazis designed their party flag. The guy in question was Swedish and was into nationalism and runestones.
I would like to point that the swedish Man Who donated those Airplanes with his insignia to finland is not the founder of Finland's Airforce. Furthermore the guy was a nationalist and took interest in swedish and germanic folklore and history but shared no proto fascist ideas during Finnish civil war when he donated those airplanes. The guy would eventually become a nazi due to them sharing similar ideas especially embracing nordicism
@@pickymapping6098 yeah no i have a hard time believing that someone so deeply invested in nationalism and "runes/mythology" that he would easily be convinced by fascist propaganda did not already harbor some deeply awful ideas. Furthermore, the whitist forces were by definition not very different from the proto-fascist death squads going around in germany at the same time (who would in fact form the basis for the future nazi party) so I don't think they or the goverment they created in finland after brutally repressing their own people wasnt really some blank slate either
@@pickymapping6098Swastika is actually damn old symbol, used in different context all around world, like it is used in Africa, Asia and in North America all over history... As trivia, check Japanese maps and should see lots of swastikas as they mark Buddhist temples...

In Denmark we don’t pay 50% in taxes; 52.07% is the absolute Maximum a person can pay in taxes, but most people don’t pay anywhere near that.

Hello from Belarus, you have no idea how SUPERSTITIOUS everyone here is, in my 15 and a half years I have heard more of them than mosquitoes in Kenya.
A few examples of the most interesting:
(again, I don 't know )
5. And the last thing. Do not pass things through the doorway.
This is only a small part of what I know, if you are interested, I will post an update.
With love from Belarus 😘
Love this! Wonder where it all stemmed from?
@@ChatHistory source: my granny told me so 🥺
Oh most of those things come from slavic beliefs!
