Jason Buchanan For real? Wow that kinda trips me out. The lyrics, and what is being said in them is one of the most blatant characteristics of the song. So if that’s the case, I assume you are also not aware of it’s meaning? If so, you should look into it. It’s based on a novel/film called Johnny Got His Gun. It’s about a guy who was in the war and was in a landmine explosion which resulted in him losing his arms and legs as well as his senses of sight, hearing, and speech. So physically all he is is a living torso, neck, and head. He’s in a hospital bed being kept alive my machines. The doctors all think he’s a brain dead vegetable, they don’t realize he’s actually completely conscious. But because he’s limbless and blind, deaf, and mute, he’s unable to communicate with the doctors or any of the outside world, he’s left there with only the ability to think. And so he starts going insane and not being able to tell when he’s awake and remembering things, or if he’s asleep and dreaming of things. You should check it out, it’s pretty riveting.
Damn, this is so unreal... Seeing all those good bands paying tribute to metallica. And then there’s Chester.....this is crazy. Good times. I miss it. 🤘🏼

I remember watching this like it was yesterday on MTV back in 2004 after graduating high school. Good memories. It feels like it was yesterday
dangg , you probably felt very hard nostalgia
@@furuko7667 maan that was the peak of humanity. Everything was sooo cool back then. I always loved watching MTV always a top 10. Adult swing, toonami and more cool stuff. korn and linking park was killing it along with other bands
That period (2000-2005) was the last good period of MTV...
@ you are very lucky man, I wish I could feel that energy back in 2004
@@brolysmash9333 you are very lucky man, I wish I could feel that energy back in 2004
At 4:07. That's the definition of headbanging!
Remember Jason Newstead 😏😏
@@aryatripathi8878 I loved Cliff, but, Jason was AWESOME!!!!
No body does is better than JD
@@nxcoleb6759 fuck yeah!!! I saw them in Pittsburgh 1997. JD KILLED IT!!!!
Fun fact lead singer ended up in hospital for major neck trauma😂
I remember when this first aired. Everyone loved it and was enjoying the weird yet amazing genre blend
But I was on the couch wondering what kind of acid Travis was on
FBI me too this was awesome
Lol
He's a really talented man
Same legend in the making (during the live take)
You are a Keanu Reeves boyfriend wannabe why??? Isn't there a something a little bit off about masquerading as someone you are not?
A BUNCH OF LEGEND ARE ON THAT SHOW,,, METALLICA, KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, TRAVIS BARKER, AND (REST IN PEACE) CHESTER BENNINGTON. YOU GUYS ARE SERIOUSLY SAVE AND INSPIRE MY LIFE. THANK YOU! sorry for my bad english, im too excited..
Cuando antes valía la pena desvelarse y ver MTV 😔
I love the sound of Korn's bass with the clicking sound
Lockie it's stainless steel strings without using a pick and that shit can and will make your fingers bleed
Timmy Fowler or... you can just turn up the treble, cutting a little bit of the bass and mids... always helps in, you know, not using stainless steel strings
Daniel Bechelli he was talking about the sound from the bass guitar and the sound comes from stainless steel bass strings. Try getting that sound out of a standard set of bass strings then come back and tell me how it sounds
Timmy Fowler you can definitely get that tone with your normal roundwounds or even tapewounds. along with slapping really hard on the pops, he cranks the treble and cuts the bass.
Thats what happens when steel contacts with steel
Korn = masters of instrumental dancing
Lol I love Korn n this shit is EPIC. Eloquently said hun
DAMN my boys from Korn killedddd it!!! Great job guys!! And R.I.P Chester...
Holy s... this still gives me chills...priceless moments.Best day of my life meeting Head and Fieldy.
This is the best cover Korn has ever done! JD’s vocals fitted perfectly for this, David’s drumming is better than Lars’ drumming, Head and Munky are masters of guitars, Fieldy was really slapping the bass harder than my dad with the belt. 10/10 cover
the best cover of this song that i ever heard
Hendrian Sufrika korn made it sound like Korn and it sounds hella awesome!
@@fridz66 Yes,,it's hella awesome
Even if it isn’t the whole song
poor soul
Chester is everywhere, to be remembered till the end of time... 😢
Meu Deus, como a voz do Jonathan Davis arrepia! Que cover sensacional! Olha o Chester ❤️ e o Travis que daora
1:10 - That atmosphere... It's unreal, and amazing!
4:07 korn mode : on
never listened to korn, until I saw this and I gotta say I impressed the singer growl in his voice when the song picks up makes me just want to headbang. leaves me speechless going to start listing to more korn
First four albums are the best
Korn is amazing, there earlier stuff is def better but jonathon davis def a great vocalist
Old stuff isn’t definitely better, all of it is great in its own way especially The Serenity of Suffering, fantastic album 🤘🏼
Growling is more easy than peak scream like james doing in his period in 80 ish.
Listen to a different world featuring Corey Taylor
It's 2019 and it still blows me away 🤘🏻
Me too
2021 still
Korns guitar sound is really distinct. Amazing ♥️♥️
holy fuck, I've seen some Korn grade headbanging but Jonathan Davis is on a new level with this song
Haha karrot
Wicked better than original
Hey how do you get the backwards R in your name?
search russian alphabet and copy from there@@southpoundham
3:00 Rob : "wow so this is what we'd sound like with bass properly mixed " 🤣
He wasnt the bassist during when justice for all was recorded
The Sublime Individual. I am fully aware of that I was probably listening to and justice for all before you were born the point was not to compare against justice it was just to compare against the thick sound Korns full sound on base against Metallica’s general sound, No matter what bass player they use

Holy shit, I watched this live back in the day, and it still gives me the chills now. Korn gave this song all the anger, rage, and guts it needed. Although it's a freaking shame they couldn't cover the whole songs because they are too long for TV...
You said it, Papi! :)
Jared Dowty me too, I agree wit u..that makes no sense, so no one should ever cover a song?? That's retarted
N87
I love how Lars was so into it the whole time. And james headbanging to his own song at 3:45 is just priceless! Such an awesome moment in history. So much respect between all the bands I love it!
Korn killed it! Amazing version...
Opening song is Linkin Park's "Somewhere I Belong", and then Korn covering legendary Metallica's song called "One".
By the way, #ripchester
Still listening in 2020...!
Miss these guys
Where are you Bobby the bus driver?? If anyone who knows or remembers this 😉 time frame from the early 00s tours please share. Wish I had the old pics but only memories and working passes that were amazing
RIP Chester Bennington. Teenage years went awesome by listening to your music as well as Korn and Limp Bizkit.
Korn performing this song adds a different dimension. Painful, broody, creepy. I like it! Metallica must be proud.
One of the best covers ever koRn made it thier own song

Agent Johnson wow! Someone struck a nerve. You need to say how u really feel.Don't hold ANYTHING BACK!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Oceanboy how is this not at the top comments
Nico Thomas 😂😂😂😂
FUKN LMAO
Kick ass 5 string
i don't usually watch covers but this one's an exception. Jonathan with his guttural/screaming voice and the rests of Korn nailed it and at 04:56 revealed how truly the younguns been grateful and inspired with the existence of Metallica...
thanks
it's an original cover, it shouldn't be as great as metallica but it should be in Korn's way
+Megan Matros If you think a cover should sound the exact same as Metallica then i don't know whats wrong with you. Obviusly you dont expect it to be as great as Metallica because they have their own sound.
I agree.
It very hard to take a song that's really good and make it better, Korn nailed it!!!!
Not better, just diferent.
I've seen Metallica and Korn do one live. Both are mind blowing to actually see in person
Rip Chester
GizmoTheMonkey its time to stop
Yeah complitly !
GizmoTheMonkey fuck off

I remember watching this live. Korn just showed the rest how to play music. The power you feel at 4:15 onwards is just amazing.
Your probably forgot about Limp Bizkits version of Sanitarium.
KoЯn is an awesome band, and this is an awesome cover.
I was 14 at the time and distinctly remember watching this at my grandmothers house. LP and Korn were favorites and my gateway to all metal genres.
3:51 now that's how you put on a show
I could watch play like that for an hour it is so cool.
I was standing in my living room watching this on MTV when it was being premiered when the break down hit I just love the intensity they brought to this tribute. Like it or hate it they were paying respects. And I thought they brought it!
korn version of one was awesome....those vocals was sick
Korn and metallica been listening to them for years love this song always been one of my favourite songs and to see Korn sing it also amazing well done guys
Old chester bennington.... so sad he's now gone too
michelle thompson where......
BootyBleach where do you think mate?
Damn this made me cry lolll
Sean Seoyeon and and not only do they have a beautiful, loving mother, they have a beautiful, loving mother who is doing everything she can to make a change in the way mental illness and suicide is handled. And spreading awareness so those struggling are able to get the help they need. Cause I really can’t take anymore people being gone from this world because of an unforgiving disease. Talinda is truly an amazing woman.
michelle thompson Where’d he go?
I've watch this tribute to Metallica live in MTV I was a fourth year high school student that time and now I'm 37 and teaching students. Understanding my students in their music preference, I can say that music in my high school years is far different from theirs... I'm just lucky to be born at the right place and the right time...
I can't remember anything
Can't tell if this is true or dream
Deep down inside I feel to scream
This terrible silence stops me
Now that the war is through with me
I'm waking up, I cannot see
That there is not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Back to the world that's much too real
In pumps life that I must feel
But can't look forward to reveal
Look to the time when I'll live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
Just like a wartime novelty
Tied to machines that make me be
Cut this life off from me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Now the world is gone, I'm just one
Oh God, help me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, help me
Darkness imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell
Landmine has taken my sight
Taken my speech
Taken my hearing
Taken my arms
Taken my legs
Taken my soul
Left me with life in hell
Thanks for sharing the lyrics.... loved this song but never put together most of the words. Crazy!
I'm a 52 yr old Englishman& I put Metallica , korn, slip not , ministry ,etc etc right up there with sabbath , Motörhead , Zeppelin , etc etc basically between the USA and the U.K. We really do produce the best sounds in the world ,

@@paulenglish5389 Hi, I am from Costa Rica. And with all my respect I can only thank to both countries for exactly your statement. That's music and not all the shit going on round here in Latin America... 🤦🏻♂️
I got to see Korn for the first time in September! They played part of this song and it was amazing!!
When trujillo says "wow" with a smile on his face
Damn, this is so unreal...
Seeing all those good bands paying tribute to metallica.
And then there’s Chester.....this is crazy.
Good times.
I miss it. 🤘🏼

I miss David`s groove!
Djani Marshn David might’ve been a good drummer but a shitty guy
Don’t sleep on Ray Luzier... dude is a monster.
How blessed we are to have Metallica and Korn as well. Intense and awesome talent. Well done Korn. I do remember watching this the night it premiered. I just like rewatching it. It's that good. Wish Korn would have done a studio version. I wonder how Fieldy got the bass part down so well. He must of improvised or got lessons from Jason. God knows the origional didn't have this much bass in it.......
back when MTV was not shit
Jon Snow that was actually when mtv was in the beginning stages of becoming shit
And when they actually played MUSIC!
It was still shit wayy before this lol
Jon Snow right before rap took over
RJ Macready not compared to how it is now! Lol
it sounds good with actual bass
Ahh the golden age of music never ceases to amaze
03´ Golden Age? OMFG kill me.
R.I.P Chester, u were my childhood and my intro into the Rock genre, thank you
I truly thought I would be disappointed with them covering it because this is my all time favorite Metallica song , but I was amazed by their rendition ! There will never be a cover of this better than the original , but fuck me , this is so incredible . I have watched this at least 10 times over the years and I am impressed each time . The intensity never wears off . This is the best Korn performance ever and it's not even their song , that says something !
Scariest thing I ever experienced was Korn rolling into One in the middle of Freak on a Leash. The whole place went ape shit crazy when the drums rolled in because we knew exactly what that meant and what was dropping on us. Korn is not my favorite band but it was the GREATEST CONCERT I ever went to. Would definitely go again you never know what cover they will roll into amazing 👏
When the music and MTV was cool...
they nailed it! the vocals and bass are just so perfect bro.
Chester, we will miss that sincerity, eloquence and good judgment, also printed in your songs. Viva Linkin Park forever!
"Please welcome, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington"... Sad
There should be a Linkin Park MTV icon!
At least he died doing what he loved.
