Lyrics:
How do you cool your lips, after a summer's kiss?
How do you rid the sweat, after the body bliss?
How do you turn your eyes, from the romantic glare?
How do you block the sound of a voice
You'd know anywhere?
Oh, I really should've known
By the time you drove me home
By the vagueness in your eyes, your casual goodbyes
By the chill in your embrace
The expression on your face that told me
Maybe you might have some advice to give
On how to be insensitive
Insensitive
Insensitive
How do you numb your skin, after the warmest touch?
How do you slow your blood, after the body rush?
How do you free your soul, after you've found a friend?
How do you teach your heart it's a crime to fall in love again?
Oh, you probably won't remember me
It's probably ancient history
I'm one of the chosen few
Who went ahead and fell for you
I'm out of vogue, I'm out of touch
I fell too fast, I feel too much
I thought that you might have some advice to give
On how to be insensitive
Oh, I really should've known
By the time you drove me home
By the vagueness in your eyes, your casual goodbyes
By the chill in your embrace
The expression on your face that told me
Maybe you might have some advice to give
On how to be insensitive

Hell YESSS!
I had a stroke and it knocked out a lot of my memories, I've been using music to help me remember. Now I remember singing this song in the car with my friends. That was a great time in my life.
May you fully heal and get your beloved memories back. Music truly is therapy ❤.
God bless 🙏
Smell things.. smell everything.. smell the world.. smell is the biggest trigger for lost menories.. youll remember so many things by smelling things.. trust me.. i smelled nachos.. and remembered my first kiss.. nacho cheese breath boy from church when i was 6.. id forgotten all about that boy.. lol.. until i smelled guacamole and nacho cheese.. ahhhh such umm lovely? Memories? Lol
What a wonderful way to recover your memories and a great song to help you recover some fun times (and perhaps wild ones as well).
Congrats on surviving the awesomeness of the 80d and 90s but also your stroke and recovering some of your memory. ❤
God bless you🙏❤️🎼🎶
❤2023❤
This song era was elite in so many ways. The women in the 90’s were top tier.
Yesssss... I miss this era of singers! The Top 40s
Agreed. Music peaked in the 90s. Been pretty much downhill since
Well duh!😊
🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 True ❤
80s and 90s and early 2000
I remember crying in my room over my first love. Listened to this on repeat.
I feel that. I was 20, fell madly in love with a girl who seemed to feel the same, but it didn't last. This song came out right about when I realized it was truly over, and I listened to it so many times it almost hurt.
Congratulations!!! if you are here it's because you have a very high musical level and a very good taste 😊
Edit: thanks for all your comments God bless you 🙏🏻
Plus Jann is AWESOME!!!!!
well thank u very much
I agree!!
I came here cause the song was in a hentai pmv
Yup
Who else missing the good music?
This is one of those songs you forget about for years, then, you get reminded of it outta nowhere... and, Holy Crap - it takes you right back to High School (or Dawson's Creek).
Elementary school for me, but that's so true! This is one of those 90s songs that doesn't get airplay much so it's kinda lost in time...but it feels so melodic 90s that it hurts.
I was just checking out an old journal , and I wrote the lyrics for this song in it... I couldn't get the tune in my head and had to look for it. Things were so much easier then, yet confusing since I was a teen haha. Wish we could go back.
This song came out after my freshman year of high school. Great memories of that summer, including my first kiss. So much fun!
Yeah this song f*cked me up a few weeks ago.
@@charlessamuelpenn9374 bad memories? Songs are horrible that way sometimes.
It's June 27 2024 and Vancouver is having it's usually moody summer day. It's raining now. This is just the perfect song playing in the backgroud while sipping a coffee looking out the window.
The nineties really had some GREAT female singers!
Dont tell this i am new
I’m a total metalhead, but I’ve got a big Apple playlist of my favorite female singers from the ‘90s when I was in college: Lisa Loeb, Sheryl Crow, Jann Arden, Meredith Brooks, Shawn Colvin, Natalie Merchant, Garbage…the list goes on for a lot of songs and they’re all timeless. I miss those days and that music a lot. My kid made fun of me when I first built it, then he realized the talent and sound.
At least the 2020s has WAP.
Yes they did. I also just wish that the type of woman of the 90s, still existed.
One of the most beautiful and overlooked singers of her era. I love her.
She is from Western Canada
She just wasn’t willing to sell her soul. She did great! 👍 overlooked? Not at all!
The writing of this song was made for the future 2024! This is humanity now!

I just don’t understand how in 2023 and 13 years since this song was uploaded to UA-cam it can only have 7.3 million views…….
I listen to the radio all the time, have for 50 years. This is the first time I have ever heard this song.
No it’s for bed of roses the movie since 1995
Don't laugh. I'm a straight married 65 year old guy and this is one of my favorite tunes. My Lord she is really good.
hahahahahahaha
25 years later and I am still in love with this song, its not even my usual genre, its just an amazing song that hit very close to home

This song feels like it should have a billion views. It's an iconic pop song of the 1990s that got a lot of radio play.
It was a Number One in Australia !

@@user-fv1mt6sc5t the 90's were the best
This tune from 1995-1996 just epitomizes how great the music of 1990’s was.
Today's music doesn't hold a candle to 90s , 80s , 70s and 60s music
Takes me back to all those teenage feelings. I'm 41 and I've been in many adult relationships, including marriage and divorce. But I've never felt like when I was 16-17. This song KILLED me back then.
Same!!!
It’s a great song.
My best friend and I used to play this on repeat. She introduced it to me!!! Shes so awesome.... ❤ like 27 years ago, it was. Now she is lost, stuck, meth induced, sad, broken.. i tried to get her out of that house 2 years ago. I need to play this song for her or one of the MANY we listened to over the years. I love her!! And i pray that God pulls her out! And brings her back to her children, her family and friends and reality. 🫶🩷🌷🎉
😢
Play it. She needs to remember her innocence before the chaos ❤
God bless you for caring
What she's on meth now I don't believe.u ..... really?
Thoughts and prayers for your best friend
I nearly lost my job at the radio station i was working at in 1995 because I played this song on repeat all the time. Just about blew the studio speakers up...cranked it full boar..sat back and enjoyed the 4 minutes then another 4 minutes ..worth it ..very well written song thats still loved today.
That's a great story 😊
Man you created the repeat on loop trend. Go claim your recognition. I'm obsessed with this song. LOL
@@RicardoManuelArana Oh, not even close. A DJ in Birmingham AL in the early 80s locked himself in and played Blondie's "The Tide Is High" on repeat for his entire shift. Yes, he got fired, but it was EPIC.
We love you, and sorry you lost that job...but you did the right thing! Oh such an amazing period in music! Jewel. Chantal, Alanis,Sarah, and Paula Cole to name a few, were just incredible singer/songwriters! I so miss those days!
It’s ppl like you who are the reason I hear tracks like this and am immediately transported right back to a time and place so acutely I can smell the fragrance in the summer air, feel the heat on my face, hear the voices of the ppl around me, see the their toothy smiles beaming as the song is being played… (those people who are sadly no longer with me today, those kinds of memories are all I have left of them)… it’s ppl like you, (who let the song really breathe) that create core memories for people…. Perhaps with no idea of the impact you were able to have💞 For that? Thankyou 💖
If only songs were written like this today. This song holds so many memories for me. Beautifully written and sung.
I'd be honored if some 90s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performaces of Mmm Mmm Mmm by the Crash Test Dummies and LONG DECEMBER by the Counting Crows on my YT channel in tribute to 2 great mid-90s classics. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace out.
Hum.
Hahaha @ Karine Audet. I mean, it’s a nice song, but as far as Canadian “artiste” women go, Alanis Morissette pretty much is top the list for me. Tori Amos is up there too, it’s a tie basically. Lol. Stiff competition…I can’t help but compare Alanis to a lot of other singer songwriters, in what ways? Oh, just lyrically, melodically, rhythmically, vocally, instrumentally, emotionally…mentally. I know she’s intense. Jann Arden is reflective, but her music and lyrics remain decidedly… restrained? Lame? Jk, that’s fine, there’s something for everyone, I guess.

No way
Yes they do and not necessarily with lewd lyrics. Additionally, there was plenty of lewd music in our day. I think we develop a selective memory as we grow older. I'm glad that hasn't hit me yet and hope it never does
Absolutely a fucking classic....

I walked by the building they filmed this in Calgary, AB Canada. I fell back in time to the early 90s instantly. Even the film that made this song global "Bed of Roses". I loved so hard in my youth just to play this track and cry alone. Decades later and it's still fresh memories ✨🥺

I have been there myself, don't let men change the wonderful, beautiful, understanding and caring person that you are. He did not deserve you. He made a mess of your relationship let him wallow in it.

This song passes as a Country tune.
Simply brilliant. Hits hard. ❤️🔥💔❤️🩹

True
When I was in grade 5, a boy asked me to go to a school dance with him, I said no. He asked me again in grade 6 and in grade 7, I said no both times. For whatever reason, I started to like him back. A snowball dance was coming up and so I worked up the nerve to ask him. He said no!! One evening we were skating at the rink - we pushed over a hockey net and he was pushing it around on the ice as I laid on the netting. He would pick up speed and then jump on the netting beside me while the net slid across the rink. At some point he says to me "ask me again". We did end up going to the dance together and shared our first kiss to this song. We dated for the rest of grade 7 and then again for two years after high school. We're still friends and this is still a sweet memory for both of us.
Why was the hockey net still up for a public skate?
And you have sex?
And you said no because?
I love this story
I understand I had a massive crush on a girl in high school and plucked up the courage after a few years to ask her out only to be told unceremoniously to fuck off...
Thank's For Share This History..

Memories Bring Back To Me.
I met someone when I was 26; he was 40. Best week ever. We kept in touch for 7 months (we met I lived in Vegas; he lives in Honolulu). Time I got the balls to say how I felt, I missed the boat. Regret to this day but this song always takes me back. Thank you, Jann, you make the memory bearable.

I’m here September 2024. The song is immortal
The lyrics hit hard in this, funny how you learn when your about to get dumped by the exact things she describes in this song. "I should've know by the time you drove me home, by the vagueness in your eyes" this cuts so deep. You just know they are gonna end it and this line sums it up so perfectly! "I fell too fast, I feel too much" soo true. Learnt I need to not fall in love at first sight and just harden up and stop being a fool.
Following Team 🏳️🌈’s (USA’s) PSO defeat at the hands of Sweden 🇸🇪 (aka, Team Blaugelt) 5-4 on PKs Down Under, this must be what it feels like for our USWNST to be dumped by their fans after pissing away what little Integrity they had left (e.g., Equal $$$ for Equal Work 🐂 💩, Trump-bashing, Biden and Obozo apologeticism, 🇺🇸-hating, Femanazi man-hating, and other forms of DemWit-Libtard narcissism and ego self-inflating [to name a few…☹️]!!!

It sounds cliche, but hearing this song brings back so many memories. The times when life was much simpler and society wasn't brainwashed by technology and the media. Where the hell did the past 20 years go? It's crazy. The times where you could go places and not worry about anything? Thank you 90s. You'll never be forgotten. RIP. Love you.
+markesqable In my humble opinion, a big part of life died at the turn of the century. I can't explain it but after the year 2000, everything went wrong. Except for some of the carry over from the 90's and even the 80's, everything has gone down hill. It is almost like every year, things keep getting worse. Maybe it is just me. Maybe I think too much and always look for a deeper meaning.
+1119nj I agree wholeheartedly. I think it is the rise of all the instantly gratifying technology and reality television, have absolutely warped the shit out of everyone and everything. For all the good it brings, it brings a tremendous amount of bad.
+markesqable - I remember worrying about a lot of things in the 1990s (such as, I sure hope that gas station has a phone booth that has a working phone). And there's always been brainwashing from the media - even before Fox News (which started in 1996 - 2 years after this song). Brainwashing by technology? What exactly is that? Is your smart phone sending you dangerous thoughts? That's not technology's fault, but a reason to seek professional help. I'm glad you didn't have a care in the world back in the 90s, but it was not so simple of a time for everyone else.
you made your point!!!! you're right....so sadly right...
lots of ppl r paranoid, & or woke. stop being so - insensitive. I'm in the wrong decade part or something .. 🤔😒. I graduated in 2001 btw..ty very much
I feel like this gem is one of those songs that many people tend to forget as time goes on but immediately is brought back with nostalgia whenever it comes on. Well, that was the feeling for me when I was working and it came on.

I first heard this song In 1996 when I was nine and not knowing what insensitive means. 90’s music will always be the best. No social media or phones in a video. Just pure awesomeness

I've always loved that line, "I thought you might have some advice to give, on how to be insensitive" is so cutting, while also hurt & unabashed. Great song and gorgeous lyrics. As others have stated, wholly underappreciated.
