here in central cali, my bermuda never really went dormant, the overnight low's were at a avg 38 degrees...no real frost ...the green remained spread out the lawn...we've hit some mid 70's as of late...and i know i gotta get that pre-em down NOW.
Starting tomorrow Doc with Scalping, just wish I had a lawn as small as yours. HELLO 3 ACRES! Enough for fairways, roughs and more than one drop hole. LORD HELP!!!!! It will be manly fun! Thanks DOC as Always!!!!!!!!!!
I put some pre e down a couple of weeks ago and it rained it in after I put it down. I should be good until May and the grass should be taking off by then
I'm from MD and getting ready to do my Jumpstart in a few weeks.... I thought Humichar is part of the Jumpstart ?? The first video i have seen of you and NO mention of Humichar.....please recommend ....I have a big bag in the shed now.....
I put out some bermuda sod in February 2021. It was dormant when it went down. Rooted, grew and did great last summer Should I put preemergent on it this year or wait another year? Love your videos and tips. Keep up the great work.
Great info Doc 👍 I have Bermuda also my pre scalp will be this weekend. Hey I have a tru cut will you be backlapping yours after this. If you have time can you do a short video on it. Showing how to . I'm having to adjust bed knife to blade after every cut. 🤔 thanks
Quick question Doc, if I just sprayed weed killer on spots about 3 days ago, and the weeds haven't quite died off yet, can I still scalp and put down pre emergent? My pre emergent should be arriving tomorrow. I'm also in Georgia with the same weather as you.
I am learner so take my opinion lightly, but I think if you are under time pressure go ahead and put down your pre emergent application as part of the Bermuda maintenance schedule. You might have take care of the weed that has already sprouted individually with post emergent weed killer.
@@robdog979 yeah I just said screw it and threw down some pre emergent. But I haven't scalped. I'm going to wait until I see the yard mostly green. That's what he says. When there's a green haze over the whole yard, scalp it.
I live here in the midlands of south carolina. About to lay a small 60 sq ft section dormant tif tuff bermuda sod . I'm thinking of adding some of anderson's 10-10-10 to the soil so when the bermuda wakes up its available. Your opinion would be appreciated.
Hi Doc! Can I put preemergent and image down on the same day? So start with the granular preemergent and then spray with the image or should I space them out some? I’m in GA if that helps.
I live in Central Florida. Should I scalp our Bahia and St Augustine grass? It is just starting to green in the Bahia from going dormant. I may just cut it a notch or two lower on our Toro Deck on the Super Recycler. Thanks for the reply!
Doc, I got a good one for you. I been following a similar maintenance schedule as you, and it’s been great! Lawn has been looking amazing and last year I even got the “what are you doing” questions from the people paying for expensive lawn services. Sadly, last month my lawn had to be dug up and a deep pipe repaired. The good part is, the they paid to have new sod put down to match my existing sod yard. The bad, I cannot put down pre emergent right now correct? It’s all dormant right now, if I drop the pre emergent, will that prevent the new sod from taking in the coming weeks when we get the initial warm up
I’m located in south Texas , I’m going to pre scrap today and I was going to apply pre emergent & humichar . I don’t have pgf balanced though , would you recommend putting down light coat of green shocker instead for the jump start ? Or just apply pre emergent and humichar and wait for the pgf complete later on ?
Doc, I just put Barricade down earlier in the week after a week of sun and dry soil so it absorbed well. We had some intense rain last night in north Atlanta (Alpharetta area). Do I need to worry about it washing out?
Would you recommend this being done on a zoysia lawn? It will be my first year to reel mow my emerald zoysia this season and I will be doing a dirt scalp and sand level in late March (I’m in Houston) but should I take it down to an inch now and fertilize/pre emergent?
So if I have Fescue-clay soil with Weeds, I have put down the Image pest control you recommended. You stated it takes 2-3 weeks to work. Can I put the pre-emergent on top of this?
Doc, I am in Raleigh, NC and my bermuda lawn was sodded as a new lawn at the end of March last year. I have the Andersons Barricade DGPro granular pre-emergent ready to go. Do you think I am OK with putting it down now or should a wait until next year? I gave the yard one treatment of PGF Complete 16-4-8 last summer. I watered the lawn very well last year and it grew well enough I had a hard time keeping up with it. I am also getting ready to put down the 10-10-10 and some BioChar as soon as it arrives. I did have some poa and crabgrass last year but it was not terrible. But, I would like to prevent it this year if I can. Thanks.
Hello DOC, I understand you don’t recommend pre-emergent on new sod. Today, it’s been precisely a year since constructor put down the sod. Ok to set Barricade on it ?
My question....I’m planning to leveling my lawn this spring also reseeding so can I put pre-emergent before that? Because I heard after pre-emergent you’ve to wait about 90 days for seedlings, from Toronto Canada
Good day doc! I am new to lawn care. Its my second year with an established sod. Wer in west texas and already have done spring pre scalp. My question is when do you mow again after scalping?
If clay is wet first. Wouldn't it help dissolve and absorb.. wouldn't the pre emergent run off dry clay soil when it gets wet.. You know more than me, your thoughts...
Hi Doc. I’m from Bali, Indonesia. And i tried to access all of your website but having issue as the site block all connection from my country 🥲 I watched all of your videos and my Bermuda lawn is growing so good now. I would like to download the lawn care guide, but due to connection issue i’m unable to do so :(
Doc I've been watching your channel for a few seasons now. I want to go a different route with my KBG as far as fertilizing goes. I've been using only liquid ferts. I'm interested in your cool season lawn guide and the Anderson products. Is there any way you'd be able to hook me up with an easy-to-follow guide with preemergent (with product name) and fertilizer/ soil enhancements with that super juice that you'd recommend and when to apply?? You make it look and sound easy but when I start researching the pgf complete and balance, I start seeing so many products and I get lost with it. I'm in NJ just an FYI
A new subscriber from the Greenville area. I love your channel! Such great info! How long do you water in your pre emergent? Also, I think you need more videos with the cowboy hat and bandana from your granddaughter's birthday! 😂 Loved that!
I’m going to burn my yard this year. I’m about an hour north of you and don’t yet have green. The last two years I usually see them green up in the 2-3rd week of March. Last year I did a 12x12 burned spot with small shoots and had good results. It greened up considerably faster than when regular scalping. I didn’t prescalp though. Think I should burn now before the shoots come up though?
Hey Doc, have you thought about getting a social server for your followers to communicate with you and each other for advice and what not? Maybe even hire a social person to moderate it?
The rain will carry the chemical into the soil...and the light just went on!
Thank you for that enlightening moment.
Morning Doc ☕. I like the example you gave with the sponge. Thanks
Doc, you're the best with Bermuda. Thank you!
here in central cali, my bermuda never really went dormant, the overnight low's were at a avg 38 degrees...no real frost ...the green remained spread out the lawn...we've hit some mid 70's as of late...and i know i gotta get that pre-em down NOW.
I’m happy to see grass tips flying, even if they are brown.

Love the content. You really help me Alot and motivate me to make my lawn better. South jersey here
Thanks Dock 👍🏼I applied pre emergent on my Bermuda yesterday. I live in Los Ángeles CA
I went dormant for about 3 weeks, 80 % green. Cut to 3/4 today..
I- 10 corridor. Nola
I don't generally comment but thanks for all of the videos Doc!!! These videos have been a huge help!!!
Scalping makes it look so much better, but man is it a messy process lol.
Audience, it looks like real texture carpet. Great Job!!!👊🏼🤜🏼🤛🏼🙌🏼.
I wear Wal-mart slippers too! They are comfortable and cheap. Some of these slippers out there are $75!
Thanks for the great video Doc. I agree that a nicely scalped lawn always looks nice too!!
Love your videos. Only thing is that I have cenipede grass and you never talk about cenipede. Still I pick up on some tips. Thanks.
Your videos inspire and help me so much, i was waiting for the new season
I need to do this soon. Hopefully I can knock it out Monday!
I couldn’t wait for this video…it’s the kickstart to a new season! Time to go buy me some new lawn shoes! 👍🏼 Great video Doc!
I'm from MD and getting ready to do my Jumpstart in a few weeks.... I thought Humichar is part of the Jumpstart ?? The first video i have seen of you and NO mention of Humichar.....please recommend ....I have a big bag in the shed now.....

Kev yeah that's plenty of time, you could have put down fall pre-emergents if you wanted to.
Can you do a video about how to convert a fescue lawn to Bermuda?
Getting excited Doc! Thank you.
Great information Doc!
You have great info on pretty much everything. Can't wait for for the next one
Doc must be confident that the freezes are over this early in the month!
I love the why is that guy mowing his dead grass look u get, while the other's look green, just from weeds
Your green up is happening already. Up here in NC it's nowhere close.
My lawn has already been scalped, just added some preemergent
Help!!! I have a new yard near Athens. Red clay all over….what should I do to get my ‘ turf/reel mower’ ready? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great info Doc 👍 I have Bermuda also my pre scalp will be this weekend. Hey I have a tru cut will you be backlapping yours after this. If you have time can you do a short video on it. Showing how to . I'm having to adjust bed knife to blade after every cut. 🤔 thanks
Duh!!.. I just had to look. Great video on the tru cut. 😄

What is it about those of us humans who just love looking at and walking on beautiful grass? Nothing better
I'm going to burn my dead grass off...do I wait to.put pre emergent after half green after burn?
Thanks
Thanks Doc for the email ‼️I was just about to purchase some pre-emergent
Hi Doc! Can I put preemergent and image down on the same day? So start with the granular preemergent and then spray with the image or should I space them out some? I’m in GA if that helps.
If i put down preemergent in October and January should i wait until April to put next application down since im on the 3x a year preemergent plan

What are you applying? Some certainly can hinder new sod root growth. Nothing stopping you applying around the new areas though.
I’m located in south Texas , I’m going to pre scrap today and I was going to apply pre emergent & humichar . It looks like you had alot of poa annua. Did you apply pre emergent in the fall. I assumed that would combat the poa annua problem.
So if I have Fescue-clay soil with Weeds, I have put down the Image pest control you recommended. You stated it takes 2-3 weeks to work. Can I put the pre-emergent on top of this?
I did barricade on the 7th of this month how soon can I cut grass and apply 10-10-10?
is too late to apply Barricade in late April? I'm located in south east South Carolina.

Yes it's ready for some pre-emergents, you could have put down some fall pre-emergents if you wanted to.
Let’s talk about Saint Augustine
Get those weeds Doc!
If I wanted to go with a granular spectrazide pre-emergent, would the jump start program still work for me?
My question....I’m planning to leveling my lawn this spring also reseeding so can I put pre-emergent before that? Because I heard after pre-emergent you’ve to wait about 90 days for seedlings, from Toronto Canada
Thx Doc

Morning Doc,
I have a few bare spots in my yard and I was wondering, when would be a good time to seed those ares?
If I have a new lawn that has been through one growing season which was last summer. Is it still ok to scalp it since it’s still kinda new. ???
Hey Doc is it ok to put down organic material and PGF balance after scalping or do you recommend before?
Doc I've been watching your channel for a few seasons now. I want to go a different route with my KBG as far as fertilizing goes. I've been using only liquid ferts. Atlest 1.5 inches
Great job doc but still love watching the good witch 🧙♀️ cutting the grass Ryan does not do it for me lol 😂
anyone know where to find scalp service in south TX?
I signed up for your email, but I didn’t get an email.

Well...for prosperity's sake I went ahead and burned it last night. Only green I have now is weeds! We shall see how it goes!
What happened to hiring the scrapping out 🤔
Scalping 🙄
You poured half the amount of water on the dry sponge while you poured a much bigger stream on the wet sponge 🤔
1:10 story of my life
