  • How to field strip and clean a Glock 19 Gen4 9mm pistol. There are varied methods and opinions on cleaning semi-auto pistols, this is just my preferred method. To clean a semi-auto pistol you will need a gun cleaning kit with a rod and various brushes (amzn.to/2CZQSE4), as well as your preferred choice of gun solvent and gun oil. I've tried numerous products, but I tend to prefer Hoppe's #9 products (see links below).
    **Complete Pistol Cleaning Kit: amzn.to/2CZQSE4
    One of the perks of owning a Glock, is the simplicity of how to take apart the pistol. No tools are required, and it can generally be disassembled within a minute or two.
    Cleaning the pistol can be a quick or lengthy process, depending on how particular you are on maintenance and lubrication. I recommend taking the parts of the cleaning method in this video, and make your own "how to best method" for cleaning. Hybrid cleaning methods and various tools used can be specific to each individual.
    I am a very picky person about cleaning, maintaining, and lubricating my semi-auto handguns, the demonstrated process can be looked at as the "overboard" method :)

    I just bought my first pistol (which is the glock 19 gen 4) for home protection and was looking for a thorough video of how to clean my gun. I appreciate an individual who take time and explains a full process and breaks it down. I feel that if I follow these steps, I shouldn’t have any worries. Thank you greatly for posting this video!

    the simple/ minimalistic and sleek design of the glock makes it a total good looking gun, to me at least. just like an iPhone or a macbook.

    This is the best hands-on demo on field stripping and cleaning a Glock 19 Gen4 I've seen. The photography is excellent. The presenter calmly engages the listener and makes it easy to follow. Great job!

    Thank you. I just picked mine up today. The FFL showed me, and I watched several videos on U Tube and Glock. Still could not do it. The way you grab the slide and pull it back works perfect for me, I just did it at least a dozen times in a roll. You are the best.

    As a first time gun owner, I found this cleaning video to be the best of several I viewed. It's thorough, explanatory, and delivered in plainspeak so that even a novice can follow easily. I review this video before I clean my gun just to make sure I'm as thorough as the presenter. This is an excellent how-to.

    Very instructive but I'm sure you aren't suppose to put oil on the plunger and the firing pin from Glocks cleaning instruction. Other than those. Good video. I use most of the products you use! Thumbs up buddy!

    Simple Green ProHD the purple formula. Toss the Gun in hot water and SG let it soak a while 5-10 minutes then scrub it down. Rinse it and dry the inside of the barrel and dry it off with hair dryer. Lube it up. I've used Frog lube, Ballistol, and even Redline CV2 synthetic wheel bearing grease $11.00 a pound. From Amazon. Simple Green is recommended by the American Gun institute. I use the PRO HD because it's the same as the aircraft formula but half the price $12.00 a gallon.

      Arthur Smith what parts of the gun. The slide and Barrell and spring?

    • @arthursmith643
      @arthursmith643 7 років тому

      Will Shephard drop the whole gun parts and frame in the Simple Green Pro HD with hot water. Let it sit in there a few minutes and then scrub it up. Then rinse it off. Dry with hair dryer. Mechanic rags from a parts store work great to wipe the gun off with cloth. Check out some guys using the ultra sonic machines to clean there Glocks. A can of compressed air won't hurt. Oil as usual. Remember guns especially Glock do not like a lot of oil. Light coat is good.

    Great video. Thanks for taking the time to explain this process. A
    question. Watching you use the Rem Oil wipe is that enough to lubricate
    the rails and metal areas, or is it alright to use a q-tip and go along
    the metal parts and rails in addition to the wipe, or would that be
    overkill?
    Also, what about cleaning the firing pin chamber and pin itself? Should this be done by a gun shop? Don't know if I could get that pin back together correctly or not.

    • @intoweapons
      @intoweapons  7 років тому

      glad it helped, thanks for watching! for your question on the rem wipes, I would not recommend relying on them for lubricating the rails and other areas of the action. the rem wipes are more for cleaning if anything, and is fine for cleaning the rails and other metal parts, but tends to evaporate quickly. It would certainly protect for long-term storage, but wouldn't help with an actual lubricant for the pistol, and I recommend using a gun lubricant for moving parts, which is usually thicker substance that is pasted on. But in reality, a Glock shouldn't need lubrication in the moving parts and rails, unless you are shooting in adverse conditions, without cleaning, for long period of time. You can clean the firing pin during a detailed strip of the firearm, but really isn't needed unless you hit 5000+ rounds. the firing pin channel and pin itself, stay fairly clean and rarely need cleaning. hope it helps!

    What do you think of the bore snakes for firearms? I am soon going to be a Glock 19 Gen 4 owner. I can't wait to get it out to the shooting range. Will have the fun task of finding a conceal carry holster for it. How does anyone decided with all of the options on there in the world of holsters.

    • @intoweapons
      @intoweapons  9 років тому +1

      +TheMeJustMe75 I love boresnakes, use em all of the time! Holsters are tricky. I personally took recommendations from experienced users. Ended up going with the Safariland 5181 after doing lots of research and taking some advice... Been very happy so far: ua-cam.com/video/FxUPSXvWPQU/v-deo.html Hope it helps, good luck and congrats on the new pistol!

    I had just recently purchased some "Hoppes 9 Gun Bore Cleaner" am I able to clean the entire gun with this product? or can I only clean the barrel of my glock with the product? hope you can get back and reply to the comment

      +MIKAEL ROSARIO Only use that in the barrel of your rifle. It may be too strong for regular finish on the outside of the gun.

      depends on your intent... I keep all of my firearms in pristine condition, which certainly isn't a bad thing if you want to maintain value. if you are not as concerned with the inherent value of your firearm, definitely use only what is applicable out of this video for your situation. I just wanted to provide an example of what can be done, watchers can adjust the process as desired.
