🇩🇰😊👋 just what I needed for today! Being an critical care nurse for almost 20 years, living today’s busy life that we all lead, it’s so interesting to learn about anxiety and following your discussion in this post, that is a actually a sign that I can and need to be aware of to remind me that it’s time to relax and to give myself that permission to relax - otherwise I just push forward, working away! It’s so relieving that anxiety is not necessarily a problem in itself but is something I can change with my thoughts so I can can regain control of my life again. Thank you so much for giving me that inspiration today ☺️

Thank you beautiful ladies....I was once 40ish...I'm yrs older....I've always admired and striven to be productive thru the years...I didn't know how to always discipline my " to do lists" for each day, in an organized way.... but I worked HARD!...I love the " 1st impression" concept; I have always believed it!....I proudly took care of my 2 children, husband, home, yard, car, laundry...( cleaned the huge houses for " the rich and shameless" for 7 years and worked 9 hrs a house many times, with no lunch prepared, and not hydrating well)....I worked on Hi Stress, I was raised by, the most sacrificing Mother; a widow w/4 children, I was the oldest,... she never went on Health and Welfare...now I'm exhausted in many ways.. I gave "myself away" and most of the time was glad to... a quote: "if it is to be it is up to me!".... "if you don't know how to do it, do it neatly".
Yesterday before, worshiping our Great Creator God at church, ( thankfully we can still do that in America, that may change at some point.)...I looked at my leather shoes, and saw they needed a bit of a clean up...so I got the polish out and went at it...thinking not everyone knows the importance of keeping our shoes up, something that is often tho't to be un necessary, and not noticed...
I'm not formally educated, and was never drawn to that ( now I would study m, barbering, floral arranging, gardening, home interior, graceful hostesses, re upholstery, ....)....I have always loved to "learn how to" serve with beauty, how to bless and encourage others, share with my fellowman...
Now, I've acquired " hormonal" weight, aches and pains, possibly food allergies, therefore I'm not at the top of my game..I cannot afford gym memberships, massages, chiropractic care, facials, and hardly manicures....the most I can afford is an occasional mocha, and its fattening...
I've always coped with the focus off of me, onto others, but I don't have the energy to give to others as much now ...
I love the beauty you exude Jennifer as you fulfill tasks....a UTube channel, writing a book, homeschooling, no, not for me...😊💕🌄💐♥️

Love your comments, especially the ones pertaining to God and Jesus often took time alone for himself. I am a Christian woman and 62 years old. Just realizing the importance of taking time to breathe, to rest. My life up 5 years ago was insane. Being a single parent and escaping an abusive marriage ect ect. I thank God everyday. I thank Jesus for saving me. God Bless u

Regarding peoples looks - I knew and I’ve heard (famous people) who look well put together are “successful” who have committed suicide. My sister is quite messy and could care less about how she dresses. She travels a lot is quite happy and works with students at a famous university. The students love her and she’s is extremely productive. I wouldn’t base all on looks regarding someone’s competence in their profession.

As a fellow psychologist and author, I applaud this interview! I have channeled “nervous energy” into a meaningful life and career, writing 6 self-help books, much work with the media, and other creative ways to serve! Like anger, anxiety is powerful energy that can be used to either build a house or tear one down. Thank you, Jennifer, for another great video! 🙏😘

Great interview! and yes Jennifer you are effective! And a very lovely and gracious young woman! Your parents must be So proud. I'm in my late 50 s old enough to be your mother! God bless you! A little advice is maybe it would be a good idea for you and your husband to just go away for a few days w/out your kiddos and just RELAX. I'm sure your babies would benefit seeing their parents relaxed refreshed when you return home to them.

Harnessing anxiety is such an interesting concept and I will definitely check it out. I read another book by Kelly McGonigal called the 'upside of stress' about how differently stress can affect your body depending on how you think about it. People who thought positively about stress had a different anatomic reaction.
I used to feel very anxious before a presentation but I learnt that simply repeating the something like 'I am awake and aware and ready for my presentation' when I felt anxious shifted that anxiety from a debilitating thing to something I could use to make my presentation better.
Thinking negatively about stress and anxiety is what actually does the damage 😊

I finally got your book “At Home with Madame Chic” for Mother’s Day! I think my husband heard me taking about you and your channel for so long now he got me your book (kept saying I was). I heard you say that the books are so effective and I can honestly say the picture is so much bigger and clearer now about what your message is. I have been thoroughly enjoying it! I’ve been watching your channel since 2020 and have come to love all you talk about. Since I am also a mother and housewife it has been so relatable and I have used SO much of your awesome homemaking advice and tips and the ten-item wardrobe philosophy. Thank you so much for all you put into you inspiring channel and books. I think I’m going to get all your books and read them this summer..when I have a bit more time. Also, I looked up the word “effective” and it said that it means:successful in producing a desired or intended result..well that’s me! I am proudly a connoisseur of daily life now thanks to you! Thank you again! We need people like you!

I found this so interesting! As a person with a lot of nervous energy; I think a lot of us moms are; I found it refreshing to hear that it's okay to give ourselves permission to take a break. Equally, the idea of congratulating ourselves for awareness is such a powerful exercise. Last year I started working on my own thoughts and how they affect my mood. I found my inner self talk was so negative and it unsurprising that I would feel down about what that negative inner voice was saying. I've become so attuned to that negative inner voice, that as soon as it starts up, I tell it to hush because I'm not listening. My next step in this process is to tell that negative inner voice that tells me I'm not being productive, or I'm being lazy by relaxing or whatever it says, to hush and then to say a positive affirmation around that thought. So my new positive affirmation when I find my negative inner voice telling me that I'm being lazy by taking a break will be: Dr Chloe says it is productive to take a break! Thanks so much Dr Chloe and Jennifer!

And God also gives us permission for a break - the sabbath 👏👍🏼😃 Jesus frequently told His disciples to come with Him to a secluded place. I love that you hi lighted taking our thoughts captive. It’s such a blessing when I realize I take them captive to obey Christ. That Christ has our good in mind when He tells us to do this. These ideas were practical helps for me to listen to God. I truly find that in following Him we become who we were made to be. Anxiety and all 😉❤️

Halfway through the interview; my thoughts:
    1) Jennifer: not sure if it’s in your budget, but if there’s a mister car wash by you, they have an unlimited membership where they clean/detail the inside and outside of your car!
    2) if you have an issue resting, highly recommend the book: why we sleep by dr. Matthew walker (also an Englishman!) on the importance of sleep and its effect on your productivity
