6:37 also depending on how distribute the seeds, it'll determine what personality that character gets, which determines how the stats increase upon leveling up.
dragon quest 1 shows its age, "get to x level to survive x attack then heal".
dragon quest 2 was alot more fun for me though, not as hard as the NES version was supposed to be (that cave leading to the final dungeon can piss off even in this version tho).
never really needed to grind in dq2 aside from the end when i had to grind for the final boss. this is the first game to include multiple party members so i give it a pass, but jesus was the gear imbalance of gear upgrades, all the shop sold was weapons / gear for my MC, a upgrade for prince and princess felt really rare in it.
considering it came out only one year after dragon quest 1, it was pretty good though, cant say much about dq3 but seeing as its on several "best dragon quest" games list fairly high, and hopefully a more refined party member system, im pretty excited for it.
If you get the chance, Dragon Quest 3 is worth playing. :)
2 is my personal favorite . Haven't really enjoyed the 3D ones. My experience being with the mobile ports of 1,2 and 3, VII on 3DS and XI on PS4, played in that order
Cave to Rhone is required but even in the remakes 99% of the enemies can use the single/full party death spells killing even at lv 99 party IF it connects.
5:49 anyone can become a sage as long as you have the appropriate item and that character is at least lvl 20. The Gadabout or Jester is the only class which can become a Sage without the item, it just needs to be lvl 20.
Its just that normally theirs only 2 of those books so Id' rather just 3x lv 20 Jesters to become them but NOT at the START of the game since Jester at high lvs will ignore your commands at random.
So its best to change INTO 3x Jesters once you reach Dharma temple and NOT before.
Currently playing DQ1 on the Switch. Really enjoying. Bummer that there's no other party member to scout for this one.
Playing DQ1 as a kid, and going then into DQ2 it was such a game chainging moment for me

I actually like the solo hero. Combat actually goes really fast mostly because of it
dragon quest 1: like 3 dungeons and 50% grinding
dragon quest 2: way bigger and only like 33% grinding
dragon quest 3: way bigger, more fun, and only like 15% grinding
Depending on which classes you pick, I chose to use hero, 2 thieves and a gadabout (who uses cursed items) to fight Baramos... lv40+ and still can't win lol
I heard dq3 was kinda easy so I turned it into a harder game with ingame choices
I just started playing Dragon Quest 3 and I still have to grind a fair bit. I chose a Warrior, a Priest and a Merchant specifically to help me get a bit more money and she is invaluable. By the time I bought all the best equipment I was at level 8 and I hadn't even of gone to the first dungeon. I am not complaining because I'm the kind of guy who could level grind all day and not get bored. I went to the second continent, only to find that despite my party being at level 9 and up every monster hit my team for 10+ damage. A few levels later and I am slowly but surely arming myself with all the best gear on this continent.
@@Dinobolt1 I don't know what me from 3 years ago was thinking when I wrote that cause DQ3 re-class system is grindy as hell. Fun game tho.
If you wanna be brave, you can choose gadabout from the start. Play with them throughout the game, and he'll be able to class into a sage on his own. What this guy failed to mention in the video is that you need a sage book for any class other than gadabout.
Dude I love the originals and excited about getting these. Still have the original DW 1, 2, 3, and 4. Great vid!
I couldn't afford 2 as a kid, but I got 1 and 4 still to this day. I think I had to rent 2 and 3 which I did until I beat them as a kid. :)

The Gadabout can turn into a Sage with out the special book at lv 20.
With DQ 3 having such a cool class system, I just really REALLY wish I got more than just 3 party members to customize

i really wish that you could choose what graphics tiles you could use for these games, it wouldnt be hard to set a system up to swap them out from versions, NES, SNES, GBC, or "modern". because honestly, the more modern graphics dont fit the tiles layout of these classic games. a higher render innkeep stuck in a box look a lot more out of place than it did on the NES, it looks like a poorly made rpg maker knockoff rather than the FIRST THREE GAMES OF THE FRANCHISE. if a game is gonna be grindy, and have minimal game mechanics, i at least want it to look the part, rather than trying to "update" what wasnt broken in the first place.
I have a question for Dragon Quest 3, what is the most balanced class for my party and Does choosing a gender effect their stats in anyway?

the most balanced is hero which is the class of the main character the most powerful sage also yes gender does affect stats in one way or another except for the hero
The stairs in the SNES version are also automatic. It kind of sucks that the SNES version is a Japanese exclusive even though fan translations do exist. It seems this is similar to the original. Can you save anywhere in the original?
I am playing through all the DQ games in order, and the Android versions are quite good. Not going to bother with the switch ones cause old school DQ combat is actually well suited to touchscreen.

How was your experience with DQ1? I just bought and played it for about 30 minutes but I already felt like I have to grind money for equipment.
Hey, does 3 have the post game dungeon that was in the gbc version? The store page said there was post game content, but it also said there would be mini-games. Yet the monster medals and that board game are nowhere to be seen on the playthroughs I looked at so far. Can anyone answer this?
I haven't beaten 3 yet, so I can't say for certain. Look up the iOS version to see if it's included, if so, I'd bet it's here too.
@@Work2Game Ah, it did not for phones, hence my question. However, this inspired research that showed my that the phone and Switch versions have the exact same descriptions, so I'm guessing the answer is no. Thank you for your answer!
The Switch version does have the post game dungeon.

Use a guide to many finding items to progress story and secrets places
Is DQ3 the HD remaster ? Is the combat only the enemy on the screen?
For the remaster you'll see your party and the enemies on screen, looks beautiful.

I'm VERY interested in dq and am not sure what game would be good to start with. Any suggestions?
Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch is the best and easy to get into.
Personally, I started with III in 1990, then went to I, II, IV all on the NES and went from there. I would not recommend playing these on the NES, as they have made grinding much, much less necessary.
If you want to start with one of the (cheaper) versions of I, II or III, I would go with II. It is a much longer game than I and not as long as III but still introduces you into the series. Or you can download the free demo of Dragon Quest XI S, which is absolutely amazing and gives you the first ten or so hours FREE!
If you have a DS, sentinals of the starry skies is fantastic

I'm wondering what female Erdrick looks like. because only the canon male Erdrick is seen in Smash Bros. Ultimate despite being an alternate to the DQ11 Hero.
The super famicom versions English translated are the best versions of the original trilogy ill take the mobiles least we got them ty japan
