Thank you for this video! This is my second time taking apart a mower carburetor to clean, your video was very thorough and I got to brag to my bf that I could fix it, he said it was something else but I knew it was the carburetor
side note: might be a good idea to replace air filter, spark plug and oil if not done in some time - for those thinking of doing this repair...... oil is often overlooked.
Love me some Sea Foam...24/7/365 multi platform additive! I don't care what the engine says...every season the bare minimum maintenance is to at least change the oil.
@@kasaloub.bennett9878 I don’t for that mower but it’s just like any other. Run the mower for 5-10 mins to make sure it’s NICE AND HOT. Remove the oil dip stick and lay the mower on its side. EXHAUST TO THE GROUND AND CARB/Air Filter facing the sky! Let the oil go into a drain pan…if you don’t want to scratch up the deck put something down between the mower and driveway. Add 20oz of 10w-30 oil
@@kasaloub.bennett9878 I don’t know if he has a video for it but I can tell you that the easiest way to drain, and I think on Honda, is the only way to drain is to just tip them over with the oil cap off and let it come out the oil fill tube. It’s easy. Just make sure you get it into a bucket. If you don’t want it spilled on your driveway or yard.
Outstanding video. Thanks, made this a 5 minute repair that worked. I was going in anyways, watched your vid and this is the easiest carb clean/fix I've ever done. 5 stars.
Thx for identifying the problem. I did it with removing the carb. I just removed the bowl and cleaned out the jets. Carb cleaner and compressed air. Started on the second pull. Victory ✌️!!! This is a new mower too 12 mos or so. Is it better to store vertical or horizontal? Usually I do the vertical
People complain about those plastic carburetors, but they seem fine if you take care of them and run them until they’re dry. Also, they seem very simple to take apart and clean when they get clogged with ethanol.
Nice video and agree seafoam is great. I have this mower purchased new this year has 12hrs on it. At my age I have had my share of mower brands. This is one of the most expensive POS someone could own. So cheaply made and designed , starting with a plastic carburetor. But that applies with alot mower brands made today. I miss my old lawn boy.
Please take account that no mower manufacurer makes it own engine (RIP HONDA). Thats a Briggs and Stratton thing...TBH, I use to hate the plastic carbs but once I figured out how they work and to repair them. I'm really not bothered by them. I have YET to see one warped! Was your LB a 2 Smoke Model?
Hello thanks for the video. Can you tell me what part number is the carb. Seal bowl for this unit is and also notice that the fuel gas cap seal is also missing on this mower of mine. Thanks for any advice..
as suspected you are better off buying a new carb! This one even comes with a filter for BONUS! This is aftermarket which I haven't been having issues. If you prefer OEM...USE THIS KIT AS PARTS TO REPAIR YOUR CARB amzn.to/48aglJX
O-Ring for Fuel Cap, I'm not sure...can try bringing it to local parts store or even transmission shop. They can measure and sell you an O-RIng . Briggs sells just the whole cap amzn.to/3ri9duf
Mr Pattay, thanks for the video! I did exactly as you show in the video, my mower not even one year old but unfortunately it didn't resolve it. The ports looked very clean but I did clean them still as you instructed. After putting all parts back it would not start. I did squirt lighter fluid in the carborater just as you did and it will start and run until it burns off. Checked the gas hose from tank and gas is moving throught it. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks a lot and best of luck with your channel. John in Texas
You still have a fuel related issue… Confirm fuel flow to the carb by removing the fuel line. If you see a steady stream clean the carb again. If the problem still persists replace the plastic jet amzn.to/3W1QRuE
Gas Taste Fine so I know it didn't need to changed. I've had great luck as seen on the channel dumping fresh gas into old gas and rejuventating it. This is gas that is about a year old or less.
I just found out my mower wouldn't start yesterday. I've been using non-ethanol gas but I'm guessing this is my issue. Hopefully this will work for me, will let you know when finished. I'll have to remember the Seafoam also.
Pull the cord 5xs without the cutoff bar slowly wait a few seconds start like normal it worked for me found on another video after breaking apart and cleaning 2xs
I know you aren't a Toro/B&S rep, but why would a brand new mower have this issue? Mine was a month old and bogging down. I thought it was water in the gas (hurricanes Helene & Milton came through), so i emptied old gas and put in fresh. Worked fine for 1.5 cuttings and now runs about 5 min then dies. I'll do your fix in the morning and post the results
@pattayperformance I did your repair and it started up 1st pull. Yay. Finished the yard and almost finished it a 2nd time and it died again. Boo. Same issue, so instead of taking everything apart, I just took the carb cover off and blew it out w/my compressor and it ran fine. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I have to do that every time I need to mow. Not a big deal, but a brand new mower shouldn't be doing that.
@ I want you to do the following. Take apart the carb and clean it as shown on this video. Extra step…you don’t have to have to pull the engine cover…while the carb is off remove all of the gas and flush out the tank. Once done used some compressed air to dry it out. To make things easier can pull the engine cover and unclip the gas tank with line on it and do the same process. Something is still in the fuel system clogging up carb
@pattayperformance I did that the first time, lol. But I'm going to mow the yard 1 last time for the winter, and I'll do it again to make sure I've gotten all of the lines completely blown out. I appreciate the advice. I just subscribed and will follow your videos since I'm way too cheap to pay a repairman for something I can fix. Keep up the good work. Go Bills!!
Thanks to Crappy CA! You know that cool trick Steve showed us and I showed on the channel? The 163cc and newer mowers If I upsize the jet its either impossible to start or surges really bad. Those new mowers are dialed in from the factory based on what I just mentioned. I stopped doing the upsize trick and I keep jets in stock now.
Lean is true. I’ve had debris collect in the gas tank (I’m guessing through the vent) and clog the carburetor. I know this because it happened only after I ran it dry. Had to clean the small jet in the carb that Jason showed. This would have never happened on a Briggs quantum.
My Toro AWD Vortex is Junk!!!! Anything over a few inches it chokes. I have to check rpm’s to see if it’s set wrong because if it’s not these are a complete waste of money.
I don't know the exact spec but I would have to check. The Engine before these Quantums are suppose to be 2,900 to 3,000 RPMS. Remember these are set conservative from the factory for a multitude of reasons like emissions and engine longevity. You can raise the RPMS but use common sense to the point where the engine isn't screaming. Also if your grass is wet...that your fault and not the mowers. Toro does supply a FREE dischargw chute for the mower. You have to call them and they will ship it to you. PLEASE HAVE YOUR MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER HANDY. It will take 6-8 Weeks. IMO throw the crappy atomic blade in the trash and get a high lift gator blade. I put a link in the description to buy one.
