It works. I got mine installed yesterday and I'd say it catch's 98% of the sawdust. So much better than the stock one the saw came with. It is easy to remove too if you need to for a special cut. I for one am happy I got it!
I installed mine yesterday and I have to say it’s nearly a miracle how little dust there was after cutting through a 2x4 a couple of times. Before there would have been sawdust all over the saw and the bench. Thank you!
Just installed it and I must say I couldn’t be any happier… granted I haven’t came across any of those limitations you have mentioned but nonetheless amazing stuff and I highly recommend… thanks for putting this together.
I bought this beauty a couple months ago. Got it yesterday...hooked it up with easy to follow videos and writen instructions in about an hour and couldnt be happier with it! When you're cutting wood with this much power, you're gonna make some dust...simple as that but this shoot really made a difference for me. Yep...I'd buy it again!
I just installed after viewing vid. AMAZING Product!! I was going to build an enclosure but know no longer need. My dust is reduced 90+% vs stock. Thank you!!
Chis great video. I almost bought your dust collector a couple years ago and then got distracted. I have been more into 3D printing recently - just got a Bambu Lab X1C. So, I thinkn I would like to 3D print these and you mentioned this was ab option in the video. When I go to your etsy store, I only see the phyical product. Or, maybe I am missing something right in front of my face. Does the print file come with the instructions and screws/rubber pieces I need to order - i.e. links to suppliers, etc.
Hey Greg, this is just an install video to go with the instructions I wrote. It does work well. I intend to publish a video on performance soon, along with the principles I'm applying. Sorry I've done a bad job of documenting, I've been fully focused on the design side. Here's a link to a few angles of performance: instagram.com/reel/CqVPE3ujBRH/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= instagram.com/reel/CqSsaF9ArJJ/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Hey Chris, sorry for not getting back to you, my DeWalt Dual bevel miter saw is the DW716 I believe...the top sticker is worn off...I see that the DWS716 has a similar dust shute on it...but I would like one for mine...
Thanks Arnie. I have a 715 on hand. I think at least a few of the 715/716 years have similar ports so design may work for both. I have a few videos on my past solution for 715 that worked pretty well with just cheap drawer liner
This was published as an install video, so I did not demo. Definitely appreciate the feedback. I did add demo into later install vids. I don't have much time for content, so unfortunately I don't have a bunch of great action shots. Here's a link:instagram.com/reel/Cx_3ahVJzZ1/?igsh=NGV2bzUydzNsZTdh I'm not as big as Travis, but I did help him get started on this project. I think its better for a number of reasons (but I'm a bit biased) I will say, I was first to market on this design by months and his later model of this design changed to more closely mimic this design so Shop Nation must think this design is better also.
Hi Chris loved the video, I am based in Sheffield UK, I have the GCM12GDL How close are to having one for the GDL ready ? I lost half the shop under dust, Please hurry, LOL Hanif
Very close! We've been working with some dimensions for too long. Finally have some test parts with some friends in Europe and Austrailia. There's a few more changes to make and then we'll be ready to release!
Great question Rich, I have not done a video on it and need to! Assuming your saw has the hard plastic version, If you drill the 2x rivets in the stock chute, you can separate the halves. The stock elbow will mate with our port the same way the stock one did with the bottom portion. instagram.com/p/CoIdKhMJohS/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
It works well at full bevel/miter. There are some limitations to thickness around 8/4 on full width cuts at 90. Plunge is not limited. Beveling changes vertical clearance slightly, I'm sorry I don't know the max height when beveled off the top of my head
It does, I'll share some links. This is just an install video that I have published for my customers. I have it public so others can see what it's made of.
Hey Meg, yes it is. Basically I use Etsy to host my storefront and process payments. Everything else about the transaction and communication goes direct to me.
I'm my sure where you got that number. I charge $49 shipped in US, I use premium components and I'm a single-person operation. What would you charge if your time and effort were involved? I promise I try to consider all factors in my pricing... and your feedback is something I will certainly read/ consider it.
Sorry Tim, we've got to keep learning and improving. You bought the best I had to offer at the time and I really appreciate your business! I'm learning a lot daily from this whole product development experience.
I guess my expectations were too high for this DIY unit. What I seriously could not believe was that when the install was done there was no adapter to place on the end unit to then hook up to your dust collector. You would think for$50 an adapter to fit over his custom tube would be available. The hose kinks when moving the saw which will reduce suction significantly. Not impressed
Dan (going on username), I may need some clarification to fully understand your challenges. I'll try to look you up to help/understand. I sized the adapter to mate with both the Bosch Elbow and many common female vac connectors. I'm here to help, I'm constantly updating minor things to help my users. I want to understand. Please email me.
So you can cut crown in nested position, but how many times do you cut crown at 90 degrees in nested position? Once you miter the crown you need to take it off. These aftermarket dust ports are a joke. You really think Bosch made this tool to be dust free or to cut your material in every possible way with minimal interference. Dust collection is an afterthought because usability is the most important part.
I'm sorry you feel that way. As the man in the arena on this one, I can share some more info. You can cut at least 5.5" nested crown at all miter angles without interference. I have personally talked with the Bosch engineer and product manager yes they design for the widest possible work envelope. In doing so its optimized for capacity and not dust collection, this attachment optimizes for dust collection and of course there are tradeoffs. Almost any of these saws can be improved at least a fair amount. What model are you running? I keep a list of all inquires.
I use 10” glide miter with a Rousseau 5000-L dust hood. Not perfect, but does not limit capabilities. Once your dust port gets in the way it would get taken off and not put back on. For me it doesn’t benefit me over usability. Not to mention the dust hood can handle a stray off cut and not damage anything around. This is just my preference. Good luck with your product.
I think saying "aftermarket dust ports are a joke" is unfair. Some might consider the factory dust port to be a "joke" because it doesn't collect dust very well in any mode. Both statements are silly. I don't think anyone who makes these things claim that they work in every scenario that the saw is capable of. Would you install a zero-clearance insert for less tear-out, then be upset with the seller because you have to remove it for bevel cuts? ZCI's are a popular modification that also limit the saw's capability, but with a clear benefit in certain use cases. Seems to me you should have spent more time reviewing the product capabilities and whether it was a good fit for your needs.
You don’t make a very good point. I use a colliflower zci and it has a simple dovetailed slot to remove quickly and easily for beveled cuts. I am a professional and use all sorts of products regularly. If the product isn’t efficient for work flow of saws usability, it is a joke for professionals. Have a great day!
@@samsonhorvath3614 It's odd that a "professional" couldn't anticipate the potential limitations all products have in certain use cases when such information is readily available. You as a “engineer “ should understand the draw backs and limitations of this dust port. It doesn’t hold up to real world applications for a saw with its capabilities. Understand “professionals” use this saw constantly for “actual everyday work” to make a living, not a weekend cut list. You’ve explained you don’t need a saw of this caliber, I do. Curt
Hey Curt, Thanks for asking! You can order here on Etsy: benchtopwoodworks.etsy.com/listing/1357964771
Will this work for the 12GCDN?
Mine broke first cut. My error but was surprised how brittle it was.
Wow, very sorry to read this. Can you email me or message on Etsy so I can learn more and help. Im sorry, I can't tell who this is through UA-cam
Is there a video for the Delta Cruzer 10"?
There is not, but I plan to go back and make one.. thanks for the motivation. I include instructions with all of my parts kits.
What about Bosch Profactor 12" cordless one do you have something?
Not yet, but thanks for sharing your model number!
Do sell of share the STL files for your dust collector mods?
I do, they're on Etsy
Where are the images for the "stock elbow" attachment procedure?
