I’m so happy I just watch this video even though it’s been up for a year. I’m just getting into woodworking and my miter saw is my worst enemy with sawdust. This will definitely help a lot. Thank you
Thanks for this video, brought me precious teaching as i'm presently fighting with my miter saw 's dust collection ! Will definitively try your approach !

I purchased the plans and it works great. I use a dust collector for the side opening and a shop vacuum and I almost get no dust in my shop. Really like the videos. thanks for saving my lungs.
I just added some dust collection to my Dewalt miter saw and now I see how you built yours.. I'm going to modify mine more to what you engineered. Thank you.
@@RingsWorkshop I liked the music, but for those that don't, the volume was low enough that it can be easily ignored. So, good job! I also liked putting your failed attempt in there. I will be making one of these for my DeWalt this weekend.
Well done and gives me ideas. i like that you show what doesn't work in the last three videos I watched of your this is your normal method. I hope you keep showing us what didn't work. Your use of the brushes in the last few projects was creative and different than others solutions and could be a game changer for those areas that solid pieces just can't take care of.
Well done. And thanks for showing us what did not work at first as this enhanced the overall understanding of the challenge. Nice change out speed as well!
Awesome video, as always. And, like many others have said, I really appreciate the tidbits of information as far as what not to do just as much as learning the right way to do something. Three minutes of watching video is not wasted time when compared to wasting 3 hours of build time and wasted material. Thanks again for taking the time to film, edit and share your knowledge with us. :-)
Can’t wait for the sanding storage!!! Subscribed. Thank you for showing what doesn’t work. Been searching for an amazing mitre dust solution for a while, while building my shop.
Just subscribed. Great presentation of your designs and changes. The miter saw has been my biggest frustration when it comes to dust collection. I've watched many videos of different ideas, but most were big and bulky to accomodate the compound angle cuts. But like you, most of my cuts are straight. I have a different saw but your idea will work for me perfectly. Thanks
Fantastic! I love to see the trials and tribulations of the design and fab process. That helps stimulate creativity in other projects as well. Thank you very much.
Good Job!!! Nice results. I would think, by now, manufacturers could do a better job with their availabe money and CAD drawings to R&D this issue. The challenge is for a "chop saw" the dust collection hurdle isn't nearly as high as for a compound sliding miter saw that has to do left and right angles and compound bevels. If you open up the face of any dust collection system enough that it allows all of those angles, it isn't nearly as efficient.

1. Great work. 2. You can improve the OEM scoop also, it's a pretty dumb & minimally effective scoop on everybody's saw. 3. Re the whisker molding, you can both lock whiskers into the metal track more positively & capture the whiskers closer to the free ends by applying a bead of appropriate glue (CA works for natural and many plastic bristles). I do this on cheap paint brushes that loose bristles mercilessly and it saves the day
Thank you! I did that initially with the dust shoe on my last saw and it helped some, but still only have the 1” port coming in just isn’t enough in my opinion. I like the idea of firming the brushes up as well. Is there still play in it if glued closer? The blade doesn’t effect them much but when the dust shoe passes through it does quite a bit.
Should keep bristles from shedding glued to the metal strip, & stiffen them up if glued closer to ends (maybe half way?) by making the free end length shorter (which U could do on table saw closures as well)
EngineerMike F I see what you’re saying, I misunderstood the first response. That would make sense. Haven’t lost any yet, although that dust shoe has bent a few in the front so I may play with that.

great idea and well explained
Thanks!
I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend. This is a Great saw ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.
Love the thought process and your philosophy. Your work is great and greatly appreciated. I don’t have the space for a full workshop myself, but your videos are ones I will go back to when I have the space to set mine up.
Thank you!
