Never heard of this Bat title before, at first I thought Sean Murphy drew this but he usually writes and draws his own stuff. I need to check this story out looks interesting, speaking of Murphy would guys ever look at his 'White Knight' stuff? I know you all have a plethora of Bat titles already on the docket. Oh by the way PK was funny and a welcome addition, he made the sale!!! Look forward to the next video.

I was excited when I seen the solicit for this with art by Sorrentino and variants from one of my faves Bermejo, but it was very underwhelming, especially with the reveal of who the imposter was. After thinking about it, how great would it have been to create a new origin for "Clayface" as the imposter. Basil could have been a prop master/stuntman and after killing the actor to get the role he dreamed of he wanted to do method acting for the role and used his prop and make up skills to be the imposter.
Not a bad take- however that twist was actually used recently in SPOILER- a Batman Earth One book recently- so it might've been too fresh. I personally like the idea of Gordon being the imposter, but I can see why they felt they couldn't go that route. Agreed that the biggest let down was making it seem like the reveal was going to be anyone other than a rando.
@38:48 I think Troy has some competition for the Hero of The Beach title. Seriously though, I enjoyed the review. I actually just read this and I might dare say it's one of the best Batman books I've read in a while. Keep up the good work!
Fascinating video and subject. PK is always a welcome sight, such mystery, so many sales made, soup! Untold multitudes. Batman is interesting when dealing with the realist or gritty stuff, because it's not a betrayal of the character rather a different articulation of the detective archetype. Travelling down into the nasty realms of American Noir, into the 70s and 80s stylings of just concrete hellscapes and people surviving chaos. Batman is interesting to throw into that to see how he fits in. It would be fun to see other heroes deal with that genre exploration, notably the JSA characters. Hourman with his Miraclo, getting juiced up and then fighting crime. Very interesting subject matter there, around addiction and such. Sandman as a neo-noir avenger or even Wildcat, using that 9 lives idea as like something more somber, the idea of someone who just can't seem to die? As I stated, fascinating video!

I love his panel layouts and creative page designs, but it's just too photo referential for me. There's a soullessness to his work that I can't enjoy. Killer Smile was a tough read for me and I actually dropped Gideon Falls after a few trades - despite loving Lemire - because I just can't connect with his digitally manipulated characters. That said, The Imposter sounds pretty great especially leaning into that The Batman vibe. Looking forward to the ongoing adventures of Batyear and soup talk.
I can totally see that. I run into the same issue with his artwork at times, but usually the creative layouts outweigh the photo referential look for me. But there are certainly panels that just don't jive. This one works for me because it's so closely tied to the movie. The layouts remind me of J.H.Williams III actually- I just wish I liked the rest of the artwork as much-

The idea of Bruce Wayne in therapy, very intrigued, but tonally like The Batman ehhh.... that puts me off (as one of the seven people who saw through the shadowy grimdark aesthetic to see the lack of substance in that film) plus Dave rewrote the reveal in this episode & frankly Gordon as fake Batman is a better idea. But then Sorrentino art, my gaaahd.
I think you'd enjoy most of this one Sam. It might push a couple buttons for you, but the idea of him seeing Leslie for therapy is one of the best ideas in a Batman story in ages.
