100% you can buy dirt bike, 600cc Supersport or an actual Enduro motorcycle. You have to be moron to pay this kind of money for an ebike or any push bike really....
You can't ride a dirt bike on many of the awesome trails in the Santa Cruz mountains. I live at the base of Santa Teresa hills and there are so many local trails I would love to have more assist in climbing and this would be totally legal and fun.
I think the weight is probably lending itself to the stability he talked about. One of the reasons dirt bikes feel so stable is that inertia takes a lot of force to cause it to deviate. If you have a motor running you up the hills you may appreciate the weight since the negatives generally associated with it are largely mitigated.
I don't know either, but Santa Cruz has been cheap out on parts while going up on prices, and use house brand carbon hoops to excuse their price tag while cheap out on suspension which is the most important on a mountain bike. Even yeti has better specs for the same money
@@ur2slob724 the reason why the gtrs are cheaper is because there are more gtrs in the world. As with lambo, mclaren they usually only produce one model with less than 1000 cars, so there will only ever be that many ferraris and lambos, while gtrs are still being made. And many you tubers have bought gtrs and stuff they make the car depreciate even faster and depreciation means the price will go down anyway because the car is being used so most cars will depreciate. So if you shorten it down gtrs are cheaper because of depreciation and they are more common.

It's cheaper because Nissan are smart making this car using cheaper options , but for the most part it's just because you don't pay a Nissan badge. About Santa Cruz it doesn't make sense since they actually sell a lot of bikes. I don't thing there is a lot more Focus or Canyon bike than Santa Cruz bikes. I don't know maybe Santa Cruz is actually a better brand making better products in every ways, so I would imagine a 30-40% increase in prices ok, but 80-90%? Come on.

I hope SC don’t go overboard with the long, low and slack thing. A mullet Nomad with 180mm front and rear and slightly more progressive rear suspension would be great. Keep the Megatower for racing and the Nomad as a modern freeride bike i.e. very capable but loads of fun on jumps and technical, slightly slower terrain. (Note I ride a 2017 Nomad and absolutely love it).

Thank you for mentioning the "baby boomer". I've been riding since the rigid fork and have not found it necessary to go beyond a 130mm travel mtb. However, your point about this Bullit being "safe" got me thinking. Maybe it is time be overbiked.
Me too. I've been riding since I converted my Schwinn Stingray with banana seat into an "On Any Sunday" BMXer. This SC ebike is very nice but it would cost me my whole 401k!!! Bike vs. retirement savings (that we cannot make back). Hmm
That price is ridiculous, you could probably buy a frame set for £4500 (also crazy for a frame) and build it with similar or the same components and it'd be cheaper than the finished build.

I wish companies would spend more effort making lighter E bikes that sacrifice some power, so they ride more like good mountain bikes. The Turbo Levo SL comes the closest (weighs ~ 40 lb, and I own one), but I'd gladly take off another 3-4 lbs and sacrifice even more power. And it doesn't seem like anyone else is even trying to do that. Having said that, what Specialized did with that motor is amazing.

definitely not those trails. ebikes aren't allowed on them. most of it is on eagle's nest moto trail outside of cascade as well as trail 4 moto trail near boise and a couple clips on some moto trails out near wilson creek.
A Revised Heckler (Heckler MX) and now this so soon after the releases of the original Heckler ebike. That right there is admission from Santa Cruz that the original Heckler ebike was not that good. Ridiculous pricing of these bikes, so many other good options out there for that cost a lot less and will still have better componentry that the cheaper of the Santa Cruz models.

For the price point on this bike , you could find something very compatible at $6,000. . let's see the Heckler, no that won't work that's in the $8,000 range. incredible machinery but they need a better price point. Probably the most honest thing about this review was saying the ideal buyer is probably gonna be a Baby Boomer who is willing to pay serious bank thinking that will get them the best possible ride to make them feel secure...a bike your Dad would like! 😂 Good Christ...for $9500-11500 if you need to feel secure, this thing should come with airbags!!! My biggest problem with this review was that it seemed a little too much like a straight up Santa Cruz promotional video. The adjectives used to describe how it handles are just so over the top, you’d think Santa Cruz has reinvented mountain biking, but come on...anyone who can rip on a YT Decoy will rip just as well on this thing...for half the bloody price!

Range has never been an issue for me, nor has the power. The SL rides like a regular mountain bike, unlike any other Ebike so far. (I've demo'd the regular Turbo Levo, and it is too massive on techy downhills.)
It's too bad there can't be some discretion in banning e-bikes. Like, you should get to ride an e-bike if you're keeping pace with non e-bike riders. My dad has been riding for decades but he's in his 70's and slowing down. But now he got an e-bike allows him to ride with his sons again on all the trails he used to ride. He's not out there to destroy anybody.
I had a TE300 and went for the 250sx. For me the lighter weight and quicker speed were worth the ease of being able to ride the 300 up the gnarly rock climbs. Even on the double black trails you still spend more time on less crazy terrain than you do on crazy. I almost went back to 4 stroke but I still love the ease of the 2t rebuilds and the light weight for long rides. Just something to think about, you can't go wrong either way as they are both a blast to ride.
Commencal meta sx has a better spec and way less money. Still a lot of money but if I wanna play I gotta pay so I bought one. have to say however, I’ve been in moto my whole life and these companies that sell overpriced mtn bikes with all this “new” tech is really quite a feat of marketing. Just can’t believe how a bicycle is more money to engineer abs build than a motocross bike with far superior capabilities.

not entirely true. the trek rail in our ebike test sessions was 48 pounds IIRC, it was not as planted as the bullit.

The old shimano motor for 7499
I would rather take my mx bike and hit the local race track. It makes no sense for sensible folks.
