- Midsummer Rock Fest. 6-13-1970 Live @ Crosley Field Cincinnati, Oh
MOUNTAIN feat: Leslie West / Felix Papalardi / Corky Laing / Steve Knight were among the featured bands.
Other bands included Alice Cooper, Grand Funk Railroad, Iggy Pop and the Stooges along with Traffic [including Steve Winwood]
Right up there with Hendrix,Cream, Zeppelin and Purple etc. Criminally underrated band!!!
If you understand music, you respect Mountain whether you like It or not.
One of the greatest bands ever, Leslie West has the greatest guitar tone ever, Felix had one of the greatest bass tones, Steve Knight, great keyboard player, under rated and Corky was a locomotive, great great band, saw them live twice in Worcester Ma during the early 70's. This concert from the days when most of the sound came from the stage, bands sounded great back then, great and LOUD!
When I was a teenager I listened to Mountain. For me, Nantucket Sleigh ride was one of the best albums I ever heard.
This right here is the reason my step father gave me the two best presents a young kid could ever receive without asking...not the mini bike. Not the 22 rifle. But rather a Mountain 8 track, and a Gibson bass!
sitting in a blue room................
I used to think Mountain was a one hit wonder with "Mississippi Queen", but I was wrong. What a great group they were, RIP Leslie West.
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this song Mountain 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on UA-cam. 😀
I actually stole "Mountain Climbing" March 7, 1970 On the back cover it said "This album was made to be played loud" Never forgot that...still here listening June 18, 2024
Mountain...my very first concert. Was at the gym at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee...shortly after Woodstock. Was blown away and still to this day a great memory
Saw them @ northwestern university (Illinois) in 1971.
Leslie West is a force of nature.
What a great stuff!
Mindblowing ! This makes me feel like I'm washing the old Galaxy 500 in our driveway and my buddy Dave goes upstairs to put the speakers in the open window so we could blast this song. This is what the "11" on the volume knob is for !!!
I was 14. This was part of the first rock festival broadcast on network TV. My parents actually let me takeover the den and even supplied snacks and soda for my friends and I while we watched it. They even let me hack into their brand new (and first ) RCA 25” color TV to feed it into my home made vacuum tube hifi amplifiers and my Sony mono cassette recorder (I was a budding electronic/audio engineer at the time). It was such a wonderful day! My dad didn’t object which amazed me given how opposed he was to the long haired hippie thing that I had just gotten into although he had no interest in watching it.
Got to see Mountain in 1970 or so. Getting old sucks but that means I was front and center for countless great bands !
Oh the lucky folk of Cincinnati! Mountain in all their mighty, rugged glory. No boy band here, just a loud sweaty bunch of heavyweight rockers. Glory days!
Mountain kick some serious rock n roll ass. They’re one of the hardest hitting tightest bands out there.
I was 13 living in pompano bch. Fla.. Went to the mall with my brother. Mountain was there giving away posters. If you waited in line you could get it signed and talk to each one of them. What a bunch of awesome guys.Wish I still had that poster could be worth a buck or two. Wish I still had my older brother because he was priceless. Love u bro.
Saw Leslie in Newport RI at a place called Bambis when he led a band called the Vagrants in 1967 he one of the best rock guitarists ever with a heavy blues accent and the boy got a funky bone to boot
