Oh yes, David, a camper as a daily vehicle is a must. Eat, walk, sleep, tea, sandwich (cheese !) and everything else in between, including the loo !! I could not do without it now.
I have a 1967 MG B soft top...my son bought it for me as a mothers day pressie back in 2016...I've taken it to some classic car shows..he and his father spent a couple of years fixing it..the body/chassis was in good nick, just needed work on the engine and so forth..oh, and by the way, I live in Melbourne AUS..love taking it out when the weather is good..
Excellent car show. The typical show sin the US feature the same 1950s and 1960s lineup over and over. Rarely get to see anything older or smaller production outside of museums. That Citroen was really neat.
Thanks for the outing! All the vehicles were great, but my favorite was the cat asleep on the hamper. I appreciate how you incorporate views, practical tips, random thoughts, and a run down of how the day went. Best regards, Gloria🐂
I owned a 1954 MG-TF for three years when I was young....and LOVED it!! Must admit that it "nickel-and-dimed me to death" for the entire time, though. ALWAYS something going wrong and costing money to fix. Giving it up was definitely an "approach/avoidance conflict".
Oh... I think I saw my dad's MG!! What a wonderful memory. Thank for sharing all the interesting old vehicles. I also love watching you driving us about in your van...maybe film a few hours of that please. I'll donate fuel £$£$£.. 😃
Hey David, thanks for taking me along, this is right up my alley. I'm an old motor head , anything on two or four wheels. Heck if it's propelled by a motor I love it. I really loved the old VW's they look so cool. Thanks again, cheers...
A marvellous collection of classic vehicles. That 2nd VW splitty microbus with all the windows (21 I think) is nicknamed the Samba and if it is concourse could easily trade for your previous floating abode and leave them with change. Had a T2 bay fronted VW for a while, sometimes regret its sale. It had a pop top, and on one trip along a French Autoroute, it did just that while overtaking a coach. My navigator in the passenger seat dryly suggested " Dave, slow down and pull over the ladies in the back are trying out their para-gliding skills". Lots of extra lashing down required to carry on.
Hahaha you went from a cool and collected British pale to a hot and sunburned tourist in a blink of an eye! I'm sure it was worth the sweat though. That show had pretty much all of my "fancies", military vehicles, awesome vw transporters, classic American cruisers, boats, rivers, and bonsais! I would have had a grand ol time, thanks for sharing! 👍
A lovely antique vehicle show, that's exactly my cup of tea. Thanks for sharing! The blue car around 7:20 appears to be a 1942(ish) Plymouth Custom Deluxe. That's a neat piece of kit to have turn up at a British car show. I could be well off on the model year, since from 1942 to 1946, American automakers weren't terribly concerned with refreshing their model lines, for some reason. Hope you're doing alright in the heat wave, I'm hearing a lot about it in the news.
All of those classic cars and the classic boats on your other channel made my heart just flutter endlessly. Thank you for showing these classics. Hope the weather has mellowed out a bit for you. Take care and stay hydrated.
Reminds me of when we camped overnight in our Reliant Robin back in the 1970s. We woke to the sounds of noisy official sounding radios from all sides. Looking out the window, all I could see was a wall of green steel that wasn't there when we went to bed. I got out to find that we were surrounded by British Army armoured vehicles. Best not park overnight near Salisbury Plain. I think the squadies had taken great delight in parking very close.
I had a 1960 MGA very similar to the one you videoed, in fact mine, being in Canada, was left hand drive also. What an eclectic show. I would spend all day there. Interesting video as usual. Thanks.
That's awesome... classic boats and cars .. a fantastic day in my opinion.. I also liked the old military vehicles.. I believe your channel has improved immensely with the variety of videos!.. Cheers David!
WOW!! There were certainly some classic wheels there!! Chitty chitty bang bang was cool!! Oh and love MG's!! Not a bit of wonder you had to have a nap...that was hot! Another rather enjoyable vlog sir!!
Well what a coincidence. I stayed at that spot myself on Sunday night. Just myself and one campervan towing a caravan there that night, so plenty of room. Was hoping to eat at that pub just up the road from it, but they didn't do food on Sunday evenings.
A Vandemonium & a CTC video both uploaded to YT at the same time ? Like the mysterious ambassador in a well-known chocolate ad on TV, you're spoiling us David !! 😎👍
Wounder where they found the gas for that...over here in Germany they are stopping hot air balloon festivals etc. because the natural gas is too precious for that. Thanks for the Video, enjoyed seeing those cars (all in the comfort of my own home with a fan next to me because of the heat!)!
Really appreciated the classic cars. Inherited that appreciation from my Dad. His first car was a 1947 MG TC, I believe. That's what he was driving when he met my Mom. After my brother and I came along, he opted for a more family oriented car, a Morgan 😆! Really wish we could have seen the inside of that vintage caravan, looked very cool. Enjoyed the double vlogs today, thanks!
Since we’re voting on the subject of the blue car at 7:21, I agree with the 1946-48 Chevrolet commenters. It’s been “channeled” and has some after-market accessories added.
Hi David, yet another amazing vlog. May I suggest that on both your Vandemonium and Cruising The Cut channels, you remind viewers to like, subscribe and comment towards the end of each vlog. I often enjoy the vlog so much that I have to check whether I’ve hit the like icon for the vlog. I’d hate to totally forget!
Austin Healy was always my fantasy car. But since I have stones in my pockets I have just stuck with the more practical motor vehicles. VW Vans were very popular in the late 60s and early 70s. I don't remember seeing many after the mid 70s in the US.
I fear even this sneaky tactic of combining van videos with boating ones isn't going to sway me towards campervanning... But I did enjoy the views of the Thames and surrounding countryside. I grew up by the Thames (Thames Ditton/Walton-on-Thames) and, although I've lived away from it for a much longer time, I still think of myself as coming from that area (not that I could ever afford to move back!).
Absolutely nothing, at all, to complain about with Rode mics. Excellent kit at very reasonable prices, plus tutorial vids for them as not too sure about how to use them.
That little red Austin Healy. Near the start of the vlog, I actually owned one when I was about 17, back around 1972 or so my mom bought it for me for cheap back then. Red as well but with the wheel on the left as I'm in the states. Had it about two weeks, when I was on my way home from the premiere showing of 2001 a space oddessy, the brakes malfunctioned, my fault I'm afraid and I had a bit of a fender bender. Well that's what you do when your 17 right? That was the end of that car for me. Broke my heart but at least I got to see the opening of 2001. Ahh the fun years.
I escaped the UK cold years ago. It's a little bemusing to see people struggling with the heat on the odd days when it isn't cold. It's as hot as your heat wave day where I am now in the tropics all year round. I am used to it, and when I do visit the UK, I need thermals on just about all year round.
Thing with all those early 60's 2 seat roadsters - even the B and Midget that ran into the 80's - your modern small car like an i10 would give them a run for their money and probably beat them. Aimed at different markets though. An Alvis Stalwart - great vehicles but ruinous to restore and use at 4MPG ! I'll take a Morris Minor anytime thanks.
Hi David. Rumour has it that Citroen made the cog wheels that operate Anderton boat lift, hence the meshed cogs look of the Citroen emblem. You heard it here first. Great video.
I can sit in my car in the Texas sun at 104F/40C with a sunshade in the front windshield and rear glass, with windows open, car off and be fine for hours in that peak sun. Granted, I do have to let the car radiate it's heat away to sleep.
Have you ever tried one of the small rechargeable electric air conditioners ?... I see the ads for them but, don't know anyone who has used one....thank you for another great vlog....cheers
I was interested to hear these microphones, I have to say I’m not very impressed with how compressed they sound. There’s a boxiness to them. The mic on top of the camera in stereo will always be my preferred go to for the natural spectrum sound.
Ah but of all the mini-radiomic systems available (Hollyland, Deity etc), to my ears these clearly sound the best, lowest noise etc. I spent ages watching review after review and the Rode mics were streets ahead. Bear in mind I only used them for the two interviews in the boat piece, the rest including pieces to camera was the top mic (Deity D4 Duo). The radiomic makes it much quicker and easier to interview people and more flexible with camera positioning. It’s a win as far as I’m concerned.
A vehicle similar to the US Army Greyhound 6 x 6 (6:01 m) once told down a Tiger tank in WW2 by coming up behind it and destroying the motor. No one inside the Tiger tank was injured, but the tank was toast, needing a new engine and associated parts.
The American auto looked to be a bit of this and a bit of that. There was a Chevrolet 'bow-tie' emblem on the dash. It had been chopped and custom fender skirts added. The optional (and refashioned) sunshade brought back memories of the period!
The blue coup at 7:19 m is a Chevrolet. The bow tie emblem is on the instrument panel between the driver and passenger. Clearly seen later in the sequence on this vehicle.

Inspired by the potential to combine his channels David starts building an amphibious camper van.

😂👍I'd watch!
Eminently sensible chap, having a nap in the afternoon like that, couldn't live without my naps. Loved the classic cars. Take care.
Cars, bikes, trikes, boats, balloons, campervans, sunshine and bonsai trees! What's not to love?! 😀
I don't miss the heat ! The second VW van is a split-screen, which I think is older. Connoisseurs will tell you all about it
When the Poms do a classic car special, they do it so well. Those Kombi vans would be worth well north of £50K. Fantastic David.

I wonder what was for lunch? I will take a wild guess at a cheese sandwich :) Great variety of stuff, thanks for the video!
By the look of the grille I'd say it's a 1951 / 52 Chevrolet. Rare in England I imagine!
