i saw lynard skynard live in concert and they rocked! they were moving around like they were 25! it was amazing! if you ever get the chance to see them live, DO IT!
Keith is not only "eye candy" and an absolute genuine nice guy & sweetheart but can play that guitar like nobody's business!! He IS the master of this generation in guitar playing!
I met these guys twice personaly in my life. Oh masn what a wild bunch..:-)))..really nice guys.....god bless this band. They strill got so much to give.....cheers Sven
you got that right i am from birmingham alabama. this song is in my blood and it is played daily. there isnt one day that goes by with me not hearing this song.
What is really very interesting about this song is that Ronnie and Lynyrd Skynyrd were formed in the wake of the Allman Brother's redefining music with 'Southern Rock', which became a genre in itself. Dickey Betts sings the Watergate line in this performance, and he was a founding member of the Allman Brothers, he wrote Ramblin' Man and In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, amongst many other great songs. The 'REAL' gem of this video is Richard 'Dickey' Betts...performing with Lynyrd Skynyrd-
Only 2 members of the actual band dies in that crash. As of this concert, Gary and Billy from the original line-up are still playing. Johnny is singing in place of his brother Ronnie. And Ricky, on rhythm guitar was a drummer for a brief time in Skynnyrd before the crash. Billy recently passed away though, so the future of the band is up in the air.
yes. te singer for Skynyrd now has 2 brothers. one was the original singer for skynyrd and died. and the other brother is the guitarist in 38 special. the brother from 38 special and the singer from skynyrd now started a band called vanzant. a country band.
Tim McGraw is awesome! but agreed, no one else should sing Lynard Skynard, but Lynard Skynard, but Keith Urban does a pretty good job playing guitar to it!
See AMANDA OVERMYER sing this same cover song with JIMMIE VAN ZANT at Sturgis Bike Rally 2009, while OVERMYER was on summer tour promoting her new Album SOLIDIFY (itunes). You can see both OVERMYER and VAN ZANT'S duet also posted over the UA-cam ...
@MongoLloydd Say what you will -for me he's a living legend. I don't care what he does when not on stage - he can inject any shit in his veins he wants, they're his veins. But he has shaped me musically, thanks to him I play what I play and how I play. From uncoscious begginer he turned me to a guitarist aware of what he plays and for that I'm endlessly thankful. He is my hero and idol and I'm not ashamed of it.
that is not what im saying at all. Country guitar players are amazing. Well some. That is why i listen to country music cause there are really good players. What i meant was, to most people they think of guitar gods being those guys you said, to most people that is, but i agree with you, some of the best guitar players ever where in country. I am not counting them out at all, country players are definately talented musicians.
It's like this..Lynyrd skynyrd was the Van Zant's gym teacher (although they spelled it differnt)in Florida, where they were from ..there father was a Truck driver.. what is really sad is someone put Tim Mcgraw and Keith Urban in the title and didnt say anything about Dickey Betts..and just incase anyyone doesnt know who that is ...it's the lead guitar player for the Allman brothers ..The Van Zant's said thats who inspired them..
You're out of your mind..Sweet Home Alabama was written by Ed King and Ronnie Van Zant from westside Jacksonville Florida..They went to school at Robert E. Lee High school together. The Red Army and some band from Russia did a cover that is cool, but the song is Dixie to the core.
I agree 100%-I always thought the Allman Brothers were a good example of how TO go about things-still true to the music despite the changes, still doing it for the right reasons, still amazing...never selling out. Hopefully hooking up with the likes of Kid Rock isn't a sign of things to come. Will always be a Duane, Dickey and Berry Oakley devotee (ah...fucking Mountain Jam!) but the present day ABB is everything that "Skynyrd" isn't.
Kewl - but I get my confusion now. It was 'Lynrd Skynrd', but not the full original band. The clip was from 2005, that fateful plane crash was in 1977, and Keith was only born in 1967 - so he would have been only 10 to have played with the 'full band'. Me understandee now Grasshopper...
Now I'm gonna sound really dumb here, but did those guys actually all play together, or has someone spent a hell of a lot of time doing a great job of splicing/editing video? And yes, Keith Urban is HAWT... and I'm a guy! He's had his probs in the past, but I hope he and Niki make it... Skynrd and McGraw are great in their own right. No doubt about that. Keith is a very under-rated muso...
omg just saw it's from 2005 so it can't be ronnie woops i probably must have seen it on keith urban he wasn't yet that old when ronnie was the leadsinger from lynyrd skynyrd MY MISTAKE
people who think that this sucks are stupid. i mean keith urban, tim mcgraw, gretchen wilson, what else could you want? and singing one of the gratest songs of all time, i thought it was pretty good:)
He was so funny playing it and I bet if he practiced he would get good like he can rock a real axe! :) It makes me feel better though because I'm not the greatest GH gamer either but I can pick a guitar!
keith is a good quality guitar player. I mean yea he is no jimmy hendrix or steve vai or any of those guys but that is cause the greats were not in country. he is a really good player at"country" guitar. or even rock actualy. Give him credit
i saw lynard skynard live in concert and they rocked! they were moving around like they were 25! it was amazing! if you ever get the chance to see them live, DO IT!
DarkSpiritMorrigan just saw them on their Farewell Tour in Houston. Amazing.
Keith is not only "eye candy" and an absolute genuine nice guy & sweetheart but can play that guitar like nobody's business!! He IS the master of this generation in guitar playing!

that guy, from Vant Zant is up there too!
Surprisingly, not too good the first time he played it on tour. Check out his videos in his fanclub, Monkeyville..FANTASTIC!! :D
Tim McGraw is awesome! but agreed, no one else should sing Lynard Skynard, but Lynard Skynard, but Keith Urban does a pretty good job playing guitar to it!
I miss my sweet home I relocated recently to Fl. and I hate it because I am a sweetbama chic. I gotta get back home
okay... now I'm really not gonna be surprised if Tim McGraw covers "Hotel California"
The Van Zant Borthers are Ronnie (died in plane crash) Johnny (currently singing) and Donnie (Lead singer of .38 Special, Not Molly Hatchet)
