I have the first generation 1200LC, that was Euro3, and that thing has so much torque it would unexpectedly wheelie in 1st and 2nd easily. I was scared the first time I rode. It also eat the clutches because of that. Thing is, the 1250 don't have that much, and apparently the 1300 has less so.
The engine is theoretically stronger, but I believe the Euro regulations are kiling it. Same with the s1000rr. Perhaps a flash will restore the full power that the engine had.

Great point! As a matter of fact, I had a s1000rr and had the ecu flashed and WOW what a difference. I have been discussing flashing the ecu on the 1300 with the same tuner who did my 100rr and he already has a tune ready for it. I'm waiting to get my first break-in service completed with the dealer, then probably get it done. I'll keep everyone posted if I do.

You have mad skills and extremely high expectations. I have an R 1300 GS and I think the torque is incredible. I guess everyone has different perspectives and experiences.

@@josephSF thanks for your feedback and compliment. I would agree there is a component of “expectations” based on my experiences and I am sure you will grow to love the bike as I have. I will say, stay tuned for the upcoming video. I have learned a great deal after putting almost 2000 miles on the bike and lots to share….

ITs not the power. The 1300 has a higher 5th and 6th gear

Great comment and that makes sense too. for me it's more the transition between 5th and 6th. It feels like there is too much "kill time" allotted for the quickshifter. And yes, you can still feel the power.

Great review, finally someone else has dared to say about the lack of torque, the 1250 has so much better low down torque, abilty to tractor along in 2nd gear at low speeds offroad. Just like the 1200 and 1150 before that. For me offroad ergonomics offroad dont work either. Back to back i found i was having to stretch to reach the bars when standing on 1300. I Wont be rushing to get a 1300. I will be keep the 1250 and possibly getting a 900gs instead

I'm still on the fence for the full potential of the bike in totality, off-road. I hope I get used to it. Kinda too late now for me, LOL

Set playback speed at 1.25. Then he sounds less "special needs".

I agree on the torque. I’ve had folks tell me I’m crazy when I say the 1250 had more torque, but when you are making an uphill pass in the mountains it just doesn’t have that shove in the back that I got from my 1250. I am in a lower gear when passing. There is definitely a larger gap between 4th and 5th than on the 1250.

Totally agree. I think I may have found a workaround though by flashing the ECU and remapping. If I do, I'll share what outcome was.

I have never ridden a GS at all. I rode the 1300 recently and I was surprised by the lack of torque. I was expecting to be blown away. Upshifts with the Quickshifter were awful. Down shifts with Quickshifter were good. Also shifting with the clutch were good. Wonder if it was just a one off on the quick shifting issue. Not sure how the 1250 could be worse

@@Adventure_blac yea, I experienced similar shifting issues as well. I will say, the more miles I've put on it, the better the shifting has gotten. Probably something to do with the gears "meshing".

very good review, how is the wrs windshield?

THANK YOU! In the low position works as well as the similar shield on the 1250. In the upper position, it does create some buffeting. It operates better in the down position.
