5:45 is when WarOwl finishes describing Call of Duty, complete with the "I'm not saying it would be a good game... i think it would be very successful" lmfaoo
I was immediately thinking about Quake and other arena shooters. The movement and the shooting is fast and frantic plus you have to think about item timers. Duels are just 10 minutes of pure focus.
5:20 and that's why I love Titanfall so much. Because even in that smaller segment of repositioning time (it's not the hyper game WarOwl suggests making) you can be doing fun things like slidehopping or grappling.
Just got back into Titanfall and that's exactly what I thought at that part of the video. I really enjoy the game's fast pace and mechanics, although I did feel burned out quite a lot faster than other games, and games like CS:GO and Apex (from the devs of Titanfall) which are slower paced are still way more popular and successful which makes me think that this formula WarOwl was talking about only works in short bursts as a break from "actual games".
@@Jmcgee1125 back when i was in SEA northstar was kinda sad, there were very few servers, and even so a lot of them don't have much players. But during a period of time titanfall was surprisingly playable on official
@@lopsidedanxiety4190 Maybe during a sale. It usually goes for $5 and that brings in a lot of people, but you can usually get a game at other times if you wait a bit longer. Northstar suffers for players somewhat but there's enough that I can find a full server, just might not be the exact gamemode I want (everyone loves pilots only on Glitch). That's the advantage of browsers over matchmaking. US East here.
Glad to see more and more fellow CSGO players have fun with these mini versions which I originally developed just for the joy of me and my friends. I have enjoyed watching your content for several years and would have never imagined that I would find my creations as part of your videos. Great video, greetings from Finland!
@@XanderNiles true bruh, the fun we had between matches on that map was just top notch humor... Rats would be an awesome deathmatch mode map in CS GO, just for shits and giggles... Remind me bruh, was there a goofy ambient sound on that map in 1.6, I kindda remember "loony tunes" sounds for some reason 😂
Bite-sized counter strike is genius. Hell, you can stylize it to where new maps take place in tight apartment building hallways and corridors and it would make sense. Like swat teams raiding an apartment complex. Props to everyone who came up with this.
That's kind of what demolition maps are supposed to be, fast-paced CS stripped down to its bare essentials. I have to admit, those are what got me interested in CS:GO nearly a decade ago, before I'd moved on to competitive matchmaking. The maps don't have a ton of depth, but they're very fun for the first few hours. Perfect for a newbie to join quick 15 minute matches with complete randoms, experience some tense moments, and get to grips with the basics of the gameplay. All without the pressure and time investment that proper competitive matches force on you.
You realise that shrinking map size doesn't make every point on the map equidistant from spawn right...? That obviously doesn't make sense... Relative distances are preserved.
I genuinely laughed out loud at that ending. Would love to see more of this content, even the whole game played out. Just you enjoying stuff like this.
5:45 warowl copes so hard to avoid admitting he might actually enjoy call of duty. everything you just described about that hypothetical game is literally something that CoD has been doing for years
5:27 basically splatoon, the maps are extremely small and most weapon classes are discouraged from camping. even then, those who camp with non-campy weapons do so to take out a key target, like a charger. matches are 3 in turf war and 5 in anarchy/ranked modes, so they are very short yet hectic. matches can be even shorter when you knockout the enemy team by fully completing your objective. additionally, even chargers, which are the closest thing to snipers, would be considered close-range in other games, and is only considered long-range in splatoon due to how short-range every weapon is. respawns are quick as well, most often being 3 seconds long, and you can super-jump (basically delayed teleporting) directly to teammates, leaving very little downtime.
I'm mainly a Quake-style fps player, with some CSGO on the side, and the point you make about small maps being faster really hit home to me. One game mode that tends to be very popular in afps games is Clan Arena (start with all weapons, no self damage). These tend to involve fast movement because everyone is using rocket jumps to boost their speed. In CPMA and Warsow/Warfork, this especially notable since acceleration is much faster and more sustainable, and as a result, maps tend to be very large to accomodate. But in spite of the high top speeds, the massive size and distances ends up making it feel slow and boring. On the other hand, duel games in standard maps feel very quick and tense, even though the top speeds are much lower. In fact, Quake 1 is quite possibly the fastest-feeling afps I've ever played, and it has a lower average top speed than most of the others. This is due to a combination of the smaller maps and precision movement (and very low time-to-kill as compared to other afps's). Of course, this kind of gameplay is desirable in an afps, but probably less so in a game like CSGO. Still, fun to play around in.
I genuinely wish CSGO had a more casual feel to it like CSS. I only get to play twice or thrice a week, I do not have time to cultivate skills and line up, I just wanna have fun.
the idea about the hitboxes being 'bigger' is interesting. a lot of new players hate how unsatisfying it is to miss shots when your opponent is good at hitting them. similar to krunkerio how the hitboxes are huge and easy to hit while being fast paced. the opposite of that would be tarkov where it's fairly difficult to land shots even with 1k+ hours in the game but that's very very slow. I wonder what it would be like to have a game that's fast paced but very difficult to hit shots? can that even be a fun formula or am i just mixing the playdough into a blob of gray
Small hitbox, high-skill gunplay, high-speed movement is an extremely skill-based setup and it would be extremely difficult for the casual player to get into.
Warowl, love your videos and you always make csgo look fun. Even though I stopped playing 2 years ago, I’ll always watch you because i can see the passion and effort in your videos! Always gonna stick around to watch you.

You know your description of how CSGO being more fast paced like that reminded me of a game that sadly failed, which is battlerite, it's essentially a moba without the elements that slow down the gameplay, it doesn't have towers or minions or even an item shop, it's just you your buddy(s) and the enemy, to win you just had to beat all the enemy players 3 rounds in a row, it was probably the only time in my life i had fun playing a moba.
as a moba player, at least 60% of the fun i get from playing mobas is from the draft and item shop. theorycrafting builds, item/hero synergies, adapting your items and gameplay to different enemy heroes and timings, what item/skill to build when my team is ahead or behind, etc. i get the appeal of a faster-paced, micro skill based version of the genre, but i definitely wouldn't want to miss the fun strategies and macro games that comes from the slower elements classic mobas serve.
The fast pace is why I'm enjoying splatoon atm, 3-5 mins per game depending on the mode, if I want to kill a few minutes or want to play something quicky its perfect.
I will say, apex legends gives the "Mr. Beast Video" experience a decent amount, with the battle royal you can find teams as quickly as you desire, between that there is looting that also gives that desired dopamine rush.
