Awesome video now I can get an aftermarket stereo for my 2004 chrysler PT cruiser and hook it up with no problem I'm also getting 600 watt speakers for the front doors and 600 watt speakers for the back
John, no way was I trying to be critical about the screw, but I am in the midst of a battle to install a radio and had to remove the same screw. I recently purchased a 2003 Cruiser and the person I bought it from took out the radio and speakers. Unfortunately, he cut the wires very short on everything making it quite a challenge to splice additional wiring. I very much appreciated your video on the installation. I wish mine was like yours.
Here's the link to my newest video just came out today, it's about repairing cut radio wires, even the antenna m.ua-cam.com/video/yDGnQntPBZU/v-deo.html
thanks now i know why my cd player would not work, wil try to work something out with the groundwire and hope for it to work. because who needs a tape player.;)
Thanks for the vid, i have a scoso install kit and it says i need an interface as well but I did not see you having to use one or anyone else for that matter. And thank you for showing how to remove everything properly!! Previous owner broke the driver side vent so he could wiggle the wire on the defroster because it gets stuck. Any idea how to fix that? You think I need whole switch or have you experienced this problem?
@@613Builds for sure thanks for the reply. I seen some used ones on ebay but don't know how much I trust it I rather get it cheaper and myself from pick n pull
the plug part that plugs into the new stereo and comes with the stereo, has to be colour matched to the new raptor harness. red to red, yellow to yellow, etc. then your new harness and your radio wires connect together easily with colours, and will then plug into your factory car harness, without cutting your car wiring harness. try to match the raptor harness to the new stereo, and make sure you find the ground wire like i had to do. the ground wire was totally separate from my factory car radio dash harness plug in, so i had to wire it into the "raptor" harness somewhat separately. hope this helps ya
@@porterpower11 as long as you don't cut the FACTORY harness, all the AFTERMARKET radios and harnesses all have the same universal colours, that way all you have to do is match red to red, yellow to yellow, white to white, etc. after that, the raptor harness will just plug into your factory car dash plug in. the colours on the new radio all need to match the colours on the raptor harness first, then it will just plug into your factory car harness.
i think you're the first one to notice lol. yes i think i left the top screw out by mistake. good eye you have there. very observant. i can remember if i left it that way intentionally or mistakenly.
I took the vehicle harness ground from the back of the stock radio and wires it into the new harness. They're both black. Thanks for watching, the info you want is in one of these videos. Sorry about my voice.
sorry about that. the ground actually confused me also. but part one shows the factory ground wire and part two explains how I connected it to the black wire on the new stereo harness. good luck! ua-cam.com/video/jtbpIRk5j5k/v-deo.html
one starts out the same as part one, but its actually a full video of all 3 parts combined. I just started learning video editing lol. sorry about any confusion
im unsure i think it turns the factory radio off when you open the doors. the speedometer wiring is completely separate from the radio. perhaps you simply blew a fuse somewhere?
its a single wire, independent from the others. it is attached to the back of the factory radio with a simple spade connector. it will need to be wires into the new radio harness. it should be black
I'm just wondering the wiring harness for my car has two yellow wires... From what I see most every other harness has 1 and it loops back on itself on the harness. Do I need to bridge all 3 wires together? Anyone else run into this issue?
Yellow and red are essential power wires. Yellow gives your stereo power constantly for memory and primary power. Red is switched power with ignition switch. Are you referring to the new plug in harness or the factory harness?
@@613Builds I bought a brand new wiring harness so i didnt have to mess with anything off ebay for a 2006 pt cruiser. it clips in fine and everything but i'm not getting power. I matched everything up fine. I know it works because I hooked up the head unit to my computer power supply to test it out and it turned on just fine. The only thing I could see that was different from everyone elses installs was they had a loopback wire on yellow bridging both upper and lower on the harness. Mine has 2 cables instead

If they are labeled , follow that, otherwise if they both go to the same pin just use one of them. Make sure the extra one is insulated as not to short out on any ground, because yellow is constant live. 🙂
@@umop3plsdn make sure one of the yellow wires goes to the yellow on the new Stereo. ALSO did you see the unique ground wire? that ground wire totally threw me off because it is separate from the harness. i had to wire the separate ground into the stereo via the new harness. Finally make sure you did blow any fuses in your fuse compartment. check the factory radio fuse just incase. that ground wire is tricky and separate from my factory harness but it is very important as nothing powers or functions without DC negative ground.

How did you hook up the independent ground wire to the harness
Treal Graphx I ran it into the stereo harness black wire. From factory its separate to the rear of the factory radio
How were you able to record a video in 240p?
Lol I’m not sure it was like eight years ago I think I was recording on my iPhone 4s or something like that lol
