    The book "the Way of Energy" and the book the "Way of Power" from Master Lam Kam chuen changed my life. I regained my health and I've become much more patient. If you want stamina and work long shifts, I'd recommend Zhan Zhuang.

    Zhan Zhuang saved my life after my ski accident and it helped me regain my energy. Just a fantastic exercise...AND...it makes so much sense!

    i particularly benefit from doing 5 min each of the 5 positions + first position repeated ... 30 min. On occasion I have done the sequence with each position for 8 min with or without the first position repeated ... thanks for this series ( i am 75 )

      @@bluedragonacupuncture8425 I want to try doing all 5 positions in one session. Should I do the warm up for every position (warm up - position - warm up - position... ) or can I switch directly to the next position? tia

      @@ngo_san personally I would ignore the warmups. My teacher's teacher was Professor Yu Yong Jian, the beautiful old man with white hair in these videos, and I have never seen these warmups before. I suspect they may have been inserted just to make the documentary last for a full hour, which TV requires. But by all means do any of the warmups if it makes you happy. The static positions are the main point though, and and most people I have know or learned from I have always gone straight into them

    Wonderful wonderful!
    Please, for those of you unsure about whether or not to continue practicing these methods, keep up your faith. They have done wonders for my friends and I, and we cannot recommend them highly enough.
    However, after learning to settle & relax a bit, it's worth seeking out a qualified instructor to help with alignment issues. Sometimes it's difficult to correct ourselves.

    I did 1 video each day. I think that I must stand still longer than the videos. I started both yoga, breathing exercises, pranayama, breathing sitting meditation, immune system boost and standing chigong at the same time, so I can only tell about the total effects. I feel better now. I need to burn fats, that's why I chose this Zhan Zhuang exercises. I hope I can do more and burn fats.

    Thanks for uploading these . I had this on video back in the 90s and have done zhan zhaung on and off ever since. Nice to watch these again. Master Lam makes me laugh sometimes ("don't sit to watch!!! GET UP!!" lol). The technique is actually amazing in its simplicity...helped me a lot.

    Im very grateful for this . Wonderful videos. Thank you. I know these were done some time ago but I’m wondering if there is anyone to answer this question!
    Having read the book, I see that the method of practise progression is very different in the book from what these videos suggest. In the book, it is recommended to practise just the two standing postures for several months before moving onto the other section to f the book, which comprises of the 8 warm up moves and some more of the standing exercises. I’m not sure which method I should follow after watching these.

    @apneazuniga
    You are right: the book The Way of Energy is amazing.
    Yet there are variations that one can learn by doing tai ji that might apparently go against some Zhu Zhang rules: like moving a little up and down while breathing or bending a little forward and back. It is a great work for core muscles. Yet Zhu Zhang is great as the basis for further exercise.
    I thank Master Lam for having taught me through his work that less can be much , much more than meetss the way.

      @@bluedragonacupuncture8425 the warm-ups/warm-downs r taught by master lam and his son. the warm ups from day 3 are essentially BaDuanJin which is a classic form in itself so it looks like master lam has cleverly inserted in them as an 'extra'.

      @@arthurvandeman ahh that interesting. So they are not just to pad out the film as I had supposed. I learned from another student of Yu Yong Nian and we never did any warmups at all. We just went straight into standing and we mostly only ever did the Hun Yuan stance. We did others but not on a regular basis. My teacher told me Professor Yu was a perfect gentleman and I was sent to meet him when I went to China but sadly I was detained in Heilongjiang and never made it to Beijing, and not long after, the Professor passed away, God rest his soul

    What in case of suffering of varicose veins? After doing the first two exercises for 10 minutes each, I felt nasty burning sensations in the leg with problems. I also purchased the book "The way of energy" and noticed at the end of the book some recommendations for those who sit at desks, to practise certain exercises only(holding the ballon in front of chest for instance. Should I only choose those exercises or there is no danger with varicose veins? Thanks in advance.
