In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Defect. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. This game is a tough nut to crack. I try to emulate you. “What would Baalor do” and all that lol. I get hung up on evaluating my deck in regards to deciding path. I too often choose the elite then throw away my run.
What a game though. It’s saved me hundreds over the past couple years
I usually go aggressive for the first floor, focus on upgrades for second floor (unless strong deck or the black star), with 3rd floor being aggressive again. Also fun to dare to try a meme deck

Top tips I’ve learned (with baalor’s tutelage)
1. Don’t build your deck with any one type in mind- evaluate each card choice individually.
2. There aren’t objectively good and bad card choices. It’s either “good for this current deck” or “bad for this current deck”.
3. Smaller deck is better than larger deck. Except when you have enough card draw to skim through the deck in a single turn.
4. Use your resources. Don’t forget about potions. Don’t be afraid to “spend” your health pool.
5. Find the value in each relic you collect. Allow them to influence your deck building.
6. Slow down and use some mental math during battle.

defect is the character that becomes invincible at some point in every fight. Also it's the only char who can make one card do 30 different things at once

What happened at the end of the slime boss fight (around 8:00)? Hologram got duplicated, even though he had only one Echo Form, and it was already used for Sunder.
When a card duplicates from Echo From but fails to be played twice the next card gets duplicated instead.
@@Total_Misplay Oh wow, I'm pretty sure there were quite a few times when I didn't play something because I didn't want to waste the second trigger. Thanks for the info!
Is it just attacks which count as "fail" though? A few times I made the mistake of playing Auto Shields first, in which case the second copy does nothing, yet it wastes the echo form.
@@martonantoni575 Yes, it's only attacks that can fail. With Auto Shields the card is being played twice it's just the second copy doesn't do anything.
How do you scale so much, i dont even get to that broken point in my runs
