In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Defect. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Electrodynamics is my favorite card. Its so fun on storm decks.
It's amazing how Baalor makes decisions I'd never even think to make, like skipping the Defrag+ at 38:34. I make snap decisions and have auto pics (which probably make me lose the run) while he thinks about every card he adds to the deck.

Snecko eye + inserter/consume combo + a couple of glaciers is in many cases enough to win you the run. Capacitor and core surge / biased cog was just an overkill. This deck really had all the good stuff and poor Mr Heart never stood a chance.
Spot weakness probably doesn't light up because it gives you an effect for the rest of combat, whereas go for the eyes is a low damage card that only weakens for one or two turns.

as a programmer I can say that it's possible the devs realized they can make "go for the eyes" highlight after having made "spot weakness" since "better now than never"
I still don't understand... once you have the code done for Go For the Eyes, it's literally the exact same for Spot Weakness. Why not just copy/paste it???
@@natekite7532 the codebase of StS is actually a mess. The short answer is "it s harder than that" and "there s like 80 things just like this one, why should I do this specific thing over others"
It s very easy to see unfixed bugs but you can t see the bugs that got prioritized instead and that did get fixed
Spot the weakness doesnt light up because you need to actually spot the weakness yourself to play it 😄
Energy upgrades aren’t always useless with snecko, seek or secret technique/weapon benefit from the initial cost. Also if you have orange pellets and clear confused before drawing the new card.
counterpoint: blessing of the forge / tongs and other midround card upgrades trigger after confusion, in which case it is better to NOT upgrade the cards, therefore making it actively negative at times
I fully understand why snecko eye is good…the only thing is…my rng is so bad that all my 2-3 cost cards stay at 2-3 cost and then all my 1 and 0 cost cards are 2-3 as well and I’m sitting there with 3 energy deciding if playing my power is the right move for all 3 of my energy or if playing my heavy damage attack is the right call and take like 20 damage.
That's the kind of orb deck I'm always trying to find but never do.
I would love to see an infinite of claw and reinforced body with unceasing top and Chem x, could even throw in kunai/shuriken for scaling

I love defect, a lot of the runs end up feeling unhinged and I hate being hinged being hinged is for cowards (and smarter people than I)
Never in my life would i think Defect could survive with 3 energy and only a Snecko

You should check out a game called Warcaster. It's a deck building game that has 6 unique classes. It's super fun, with multitudes of possible builds
Omg I just had a very similar run as yours today, but I went cracked core and astrolabe , got a totoal of 2 core surges, 3 biased cogs, a clockwork and 2 capacitors, it was beautiful indeed.
Also they didn't show defect in sts2, right? I am worried for my guy

What's the interaction between Streamline and Snecko? Does Snecko completely invalidate the cost decrease of Streamline, or will Streamline always eventually cost 0?
Snecko re-randomises the cost of a card every time you draw it, overwriting any previous cost modifiers.
Defect has always been, and always will be , my favorite StS character.

Regarding Spot Weakness and Go For the Eyes lighting up under the "enemy attacking" condition;
I note that the Watcher cards that light up are attacks, so maybe it's that they only coded this conditional lighting up for attacks? Someone will have to remind me if Watcher's "draw cards if the last card was a skill" block card lights up when its condition is set to be filled. If so, this pet theory of mine is bad (as that block card is obv a skill)

this game has a couple of bugs and issues. the devs mark it as complete but I wonder why they're not fixing these remaining bugs like "spot weakness" doesn't light up or more impactful stuff "the 2 orb carrier event fight from act 3 is not considered an elite fight" and "you can get relics in your last elite fight in act 4 that physically can never be used like white beast statue"
it's fair that they're not adding more heroes or balancing stuff, but what about just fixing well known bugs, spire is popular enough that it'd definitely help having those fixed
I find it interesting how BL uses non-gendered pronouns for the enemy monsters. I think it's okay to just call them "it"
