I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Run History Plus, giving us more info in the Run Summary screen about the run: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Map Marks, for path highlighting - here, typically, Green means an easy, intended path, and Orange or Red means a harder path that I might take if I get good rewards: github.com/casey-c/mapmarks
Even though I do not use it, I recommend Minty Spire for people looking for various Quality-of-Life improvements: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Bestiary, letting me see enemy attack patterns directly in game: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile... - Ігри
The choice to take genetic algorithm over biased cognition after mentioning how you think biased cog is maybe the most powerful defect card is a great example of making contextual decisions in slay the spire. Defect is the best! Love the vids
I think he did it not to make the run too easy. Genetic algorithm is never better than biased cog not even here
I find that defect is a power-hungry character. Echoform, Loop, Capacitor, Defragment, Biased Cognition, Creative AI, and Buffer. There's just so many. Awakened One looooooves the defect.
The 3 main characters have an obvious bias for certain types of cards
Ironclad for attacks, Silent for skills, and Defect for powers
@@nekuchan900 Defect for Claw
@@nekuchan900 i think your autocorrect accidentally wrote “powers” instead of “Claws”.
Mumified Hand and running all of them
@@nekuchan900 And Watcher for broken infinites
That was a great run! Defect is who i struggle with the most. Successful runs usually coming down to early focus orb scaling... it was cool to see a physical defect win, without claw no less!
Playing Reprogram on a Defect tutorial is certainly the most Baalorlord thing I can think of.
Almost always terrible but this time alright
@@bustatronNah reprogram is fine. It's quite literally better ironclad strength scaling
Thank you so much for these guides!! I have about 100 hours in Slay the Spire, but never beat the heart until your guides. Just beat it with Ironclad and Silent today and about to try with Defect! Your explanations have been super helpful. :)
I’ve gotten Defect and Silent up to a20, mostly through lucky runs post a15, but I’ve still been loving this series. I’m learning a lot of basics I missed along the way
I’m the same way but with defect and watcher. Refreshing the basics is always great!
These guides are gold for a noob like me. I just bought the game for Switch and I kept dying over and over with the Ironclad. Once I unlocked The Silent, I beat the game in my first run with her.
Ironclad can be a bit tough. He's at ascension 10 while my others are 15+
Same for me here. Im struggling with Ironclad though my friend say it is the easiest character 😂 i love Silent and Defect quite alot but im still bad at the game (constantly dying in Act 2 or Act 3 Statue Head) so im here to get more tips ❤
Couldn't have asked for a more educational run. Shows how to make a defect deck work with common and often seen cards in act 1, while keeping a plan ready for scaling in act 2.
I love this game, I've unlocked A20 on Defect with minimal outside help, now I'm yearning to learn more about this game. Thanks for making content.
I've only killed the heart a few times with defect. My favourite run was getting over 6 stacks of creative AI with the mummy hand relic and heatsinks -- poor guy didn't stand a chance. (And to make a terrible pun, the heart just couldn't beat it.)
honestly, if i ever start using twitch, it'll be because of you. i'm so happy you upload to youtube, too. you're the best!!
To be honest, with all the energy generation possible with Defect, getting both shuriken and kunai makes winning a hell of a lot easier. Even with just kunai replacing strength with any of the claws seen would work. Crazy game.
Thank you for the guide! I've just reached ascension 20 with my favourite orb hoarder, and I need all the help and I can get.
So far, The Defect is the only Character I have beaten the heart with and actually the first character I beat a third act boss with. I beat the heart by using msny orb slots and the power that summons more power cards each turn.
I am currently working on beating the heart with Ironclad. I found your channel while trying to figure out how to do that.
I’m loving this series. It helped me win as both ironclad and silent.
Can’t wait to watch all these! I’ve gotten behind on my Baalor videos. Defect is my favorite!
I've been stuck with about 30 losses in a row at Ascension 13 on Defect and I beat 13 then 14 right after while watching some of your videos on Defect for the first time. Thanks!
These guides are awesome, thank you!
Dang that’s a beefy Defect! Never leaned this hard into strength and dex on defect before, I’ll need to keep this in mind
Reprogram defect is an absolute blast if you can make it happen. Unfortunately I am not great at making it happen.
I got my first heart kill with the Defect. It was a powers heavy build with a mummified hand I found at a shop. The hand let me often discount powerful cards like meteor, or other strong power cards, which ended up letting me chain card after card to empty my hand.
It was close, but I was able to finish it by letting the heart's multi hit proc a ton of lightning orbs to spawn.
Best line at 24:20 is actually killing one of the louses with strike + rebound, and then dualcast to deal 16/finish the 2nd one. Its a one turn kill with 100% percentage chance.
It still happened but because of some rng luck the way it was played. Love these videos.
Feels like you broke the game once more, with kunai and shuriken. xD Then the double echo form haha.
no?
@@santipenalver3136rebound + strike does 15 which kills the 10hp (effective 13 with curl up) Louse, dual cast is then guaranteed to target and lethal the 13hp Louse.
Why are you being facetious for no reason man.
These videos are exceptionally well done. Thanks Baalor
Thank you for the guide, it helped me to understand this character a bit better=)
My run had the relic that makes cards cost 0 and a creative ai+. So many powers just made everything ez
This could have been the greatest claw run I have personally ever seen.
Thanks for the tips on my 1th try i finally beat the Corrupt Heart and unlocked The Silent Beta card.
Finally made it to the heart with defect for the first time and realized my entire block strategy was based on channeling frost so I very quickly died... Time for another Baalor guide
The slowest, BUT deepest analyst for STS available on YT.
One key takeaway here for me was: If you have card draw you need energy. You must try to combine the two! Also: The double Hologram technique with the Turbo works very well.
After rewatching and getting slightly lucky, I managed to kill The Heart on A4 ... with a very late Inserter, Frost + Lightning Orbs and a final Focus value of 26 🙂 (orange pellets helped here ... did I say "slightly lucky"? 😇 )
i really likes the slime boss part of the video
I am at Ascension 7 9 6 and 1
So i am really looking forward to learn about the watcher :p
Lose all 4 defends quickly and calculate damage before going into wrath form.
Yeah watcher definitely takes the longest to learn but ends up being pretty the strongest by most accounts when you start playing her at a high level
Love making card-heavy defect decks to fight the time eater in act 3
After 600 hours of StS, why have I only just noticed that the funghi beasts (28:45) are upside-down dead rats with funghi growing out of them?
What did they look like before you realized? I can’t see it any other way but now I’m curious
@@eightinnn just mushroom heads with wide grey bodies. I didn't notice the rat's head
Ok, probably the most complicated character for me, maybe if I come back to the game, I may find this usefull.
Dang! You coulda ben doin dem claws like heck man, talkin bout CLAW! CLAW! CLAW! Dang ol stackin damage goin crazy and such man... at least that's how my lizard brain talks to me when I pass up a claw, usually I see like 5 more every damn time
Oh believe me, chat was asking for the Claw the whole time! I felt it wasn't as appropriate for a tutorial video, however.
still watching your videos April 2024! good work
Isn't it smarter to use 'Strike' + 'Rebound' on the back enemy and then use 'Dualcast' to guarantee a full clear at 24:15? If the 'Dualcast' had hit the back enemy twice, then you would have taken some (minor) damage.
Just commented same thing (and deleted when I saw you already said it).
Dualcast first was indeed a (small) misplay, that ended up with same result. The line you propose is guaranteed t1 lethal.
Interestingly he only had t1 lethal due to that rebound he just took. If it had been a strike instead of rebound he would be one point short on damage to kill the louse in back.
thanks for putting in sections in the video unlike jorbs so i can skip past things i know well and skip right to the things i dont
Amazing! Really struggle on Acension 20 with defect, though. How about another video for Ascension 20?
1:35:40 I have never seen such luck with the snake in my life. The hand even took care of the only 3.
I would love to see a video on how to beat the heart on A20 with the defect!
The goat ❤
“So, anyway, I started beaming”
Please tell me that was an “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” reference.
ohhh defect, im having a really hard time using this dude till i discovered the full power deck. And i got a mummified hand. I was destroying bosses in act 2, then the last boss of act 3 was that damned bird monster, killed him one time with the lightning strike shit that depends on the lightning orbs u made, 1 hit from that dude was enough to kill me
The defect was my favorite, and the warrior the least favorite for the first 10 ascensions, and then they promptly switched lol.
You have violated the Law. Passing on 5 Claws.
I think I picked runic pyramid once, and I don't remember how I did it but it killed me in act 3 with watcher XD
I got to the heart today with an echo form, inserter and consume deck. I was blocking for over 100 each turn then it attacked for 20x12. What the heck am I supposed to do against that!
Baalorlord lord!
I found the silent the hardest to kill the heart with and the easiest with the defect, i suppose it’s to each their own
36:00 He broke the Law
I like playing Defect.
It's fun to grow in strength at the same speed as the enemy.
Also have max slots and do at least 40 dmg each turn.😂
You know you watch too much Baalor when you hover over the relics to get stats on them
Just gotta say defect was by far the easiest for me. all i need is frost, focus, and a couple blizzards and i win
Man I'm realizing how orb dependent I am with how I play this character
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get these mods installed in my game...
Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I manage to get to the heart a lot, but the heart always kills me 😔
One time I was OP and lost to the heart because of bad card draw 😢
I will never give up and o e day that corrupted heart will die ☠️☠️☠️💯
Is that a picture of the DS1 map behind you?
gg love the nonsense
I was playing as Defect yesterday and forgot to pick up the blue key at the chest... I was so sad...
The worst feeling in this game is seeing a second Claw after deciding to skip out on the first one. So now I just never skip the first one.
Why not apotheosis in Act 3 2nd shop? I'm guessing because a lot of your cards were already upgraded, but still something I always consider. Wondering why you didn't even mention it?
1:57:00 - 1:57:12 it's a brief mention, but as the core cards were upgraded it has little value.
@24:00 it is a 25% chance not 50%.
It is a 25% chance that both strikes hit specifically the front louse or specifically the back louse, but it is a 50% that both orbs hit the same target. Think about it like this: What the first strike hits doesn't matter, and then it is a 50% chance that the second strike hits the same louse as the first.
He goes sooooooo slooooow. Beyond ponderous in every explanation and analysis.
And that's why he wins a lot. There are other context creators that go much faster, but they don't do as well as often as he does. Watch who you like more
What about watcher though?
Can anyone tell me the mod for the map marker?
You can find a full list of Baalors mods at baalorlord.tv/mods

Question?? Just got my first win today ever coincidentally with the defect but I didn’t get to fight the heart, it played some text said I hit it for an ungodly amount of damage via text and then I had the option to sleep so I did and it just said victory. Can someone tell me what happened? I’m glad I won but kinda feel cheated out of the final fight
wtf why do your lice have less block on A5 than mine do on A1?
He hit them with orbs. They only block when you attack them directly.
a great case example of where concentrating on teaching how to play can distract from actually playing. example: the first two lice fight.
Balls
whats with the audio
Visuals. Visuals combined with the audio make this video what it is.
I enjoy your videos, but it's two words compile and driver
Why is everything a 70 fucking hour video about this game?
Just tell me how to fucking win.
A bit sloppy for an educational vid.
You should use a seed deck for instruction instead. Gives you more predictable results.
@@thomasneal9291 weird take
@@Solveravn In the first lice fight, he gets entirely distracted and almost misses the easy way to end the fight. that's sloppy. if you pick a seed deck, you know exactly what is coming, and will not be distracted and thus it makes it much easier to teach you how to play. this is not rocket science. You should avoid calling things "weird" that you simply do not understand. Ask questions instead. makes you look better.
Your runs take waaay to long!
