Gary is amazing in the way he manages time : seemingly wasting it during roughly three quarters of the game, and then suddenly moving at a bullet’s speed towards the end. But one must acknowledge that Hikaru having been constantly defending himself all the way through, took all imaginable advantage of the situation in the endgame and eventually gained an almost impossible draw. Breathtaking experience to follow these two, as different in age and game style as they might be !
Let me tell you something, Hikaru is obviously smart, as we all know, you may ask, how can he be defending himself as White? Hikaru does that to test his skills in seeing how Kasparov plays a new game against tactics Hikaru sets up, or it could be difficult for him to find good attacks against... He is learning from Kasparov. These are games you play not to just play, chances like these are rare. Hikaru never had Kasparov visit him in his hotel room teaching him new tricks of the trade like Magnus has had.
Filming is not great. When you concentrate on one move, you experience another screen totally in a different format, which is annoying. Hope in the future you keep in mind that a lot of us are watching the game on small screens. Thankyou
In a actual world of chess were teenagers and twenties people think to win easily and be better than ancient Masters playing in 60 , 70 , 80 because the are trained by pc programs , trained and used to play with super speed chess challenges , valuated by Elo system ( a ditortion of real long chess challenge ,a s a football or tennis would have been limited by matches of 20 minutes ) this is a very good lesson !!!!
please could you give more details when did this match take place? you published it 2 months ago but there is too much info, all chess youtubers forget to do the most important thing
I know I'm much lower elo than Hikaru, but I feel like at 27:40 he should have played Nd4, giving a discovered check on black queen, while also attacking the rook with his knight, which is defended by his queen. This move wins a rook and loses a knight. Maybe he has some crazy advanced tactic that I don't see though, but I feel like that's a strong move.
Here is something to chew on. In the 1995 Anand vs Kasparov world championship, Anand took the lead in game 9. In game 10, every time Kasparov made a move, he got up to go to the bathroom and slammed the door behind him so hard the room shook. The young and mild mannered Anand did not complain to the arbiter, who also did not act. Bullying destroys lives, and bullied children suffer lifelong low self esteem. If you need such off-the-board moves in order to win, then you are no champion. Kasparov needs to be made to confront his behavior and answer for it.
Kasparov had a big blunder when he had a chance to take knight by his king he should have taken that and let hikaru make the pawn a queen then it was a check obviously but kasparo had his bishop facing the queen he could have had easily take the queen and he was going to win from there
I watched the Chess Olympiad in Manila in 1992. Had autographs by Kasparov, Kamsky, Anand, and other chess greats. On my visit, the main game featured on the huge stage canvass was between Kasparov and Shirov. It was a nerve-racking spectacle of Kasparov's brilliance.

How is 50 minutes a quick game?
Kasparov missed a Knight trap (rook A8, at 38:00).
Knight c6 after rook a8. No knight traps
Is Redbull doping or not?
44:42 why Garry did not take knight and chased pawn instead anyway his bishop is on diagonal to take pawn when promoted
Please put your logo other than over the board.
Hikaru should promote the other pawn in the left side so the dark bishup wouldn't stop him
Kasparov stops moving throughout the game. I think it's a technique to distract his opponent, a bit dirty

beautiful game to watch, I'm glad it ended in a draw
why a draw? The knight can take the bishop and it would remain the knight and the queen against the queen only
