I saw this full show when they premiered it on youtube a couple of weeks ago. During one song, I forget which one, Miyako herself walked over to Famis side of the stage stood right next to her, and was smiling at Fami the entire time. When was the last time you saw Miyako do that? And Midori is same way, her and Fami do this face off thing leaning back and forth towards each other. Both with huge smiles. And the smile Asami gives Fami with the thumbs up, is priceless. Fami has definitely won them over. I loved Miho no doubt. But there's something special about this young, lovely, very talented lady. She has that extra something that can't be taught or learned. You have it or you don't. She has a very natural joy, charm and charisma. You cant help to notice, that along with her million-megawatt smile. You cant help but be in a good mood. watching her, and from what I've read being around her. Sometimes an infusion of new younger talent can really propel a band into the next level. There's bassist I have admired since the early 70's but this young lady is a truly gifted musician, she's better than all of them already. To be that good that young. And to think she nearly gave all up. Imagine how good Fami and Lovebites will become now.
I've essentially been a metalhead all of my life. In my mind, officially, I became a metalhead in 1971 when I first heard Zeppelin. I was 11. I liked the Yardbirds before that, songs like "Kansas City" by the Beatles, basically always wanting heavier music of the times. I love all metal genres, but thrash and speed are my favorites. The 80's were really my favorite decade of metal. Metallica really changed the course of metal history. Their music is great. I love Zeppelin, Opeth, Exodus, Slayer, Lacuna Coil, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Power Trip, Priest, Maiden, and so so many more bands. Forget bands in the USA in the past 20 years. Forget bands that are "like" Lovebites. Again, I stress this is just my opinion, but this is how I feel.... Lovebites is the greatest metal band ever. Miyako & Midori are the greatest dual leads ever. Haruna is in my top 3 all-time favorite drummers along with ex-Opeth Martin Lopez and Slayer/Grip Inc legend Dave Lombardo. Miho was a solid old-school metal shredding bassist with the band. With a smaller sample size, I feel Fami is equally as fast, but her technical playing style and tone honestly is a catalyst for me saying that Lovebites leveled up with the addition of Fami. And, my now all-time favorite song is "Judgement Day". I may take Lovebites to my grave as my favorite band ever, because in 50+ years, I've now had only 3 songs I've ever labeled a favorite. I don't believe there's enough time for me to find a 4th 😂.
I do understand you are just stating your opinion, and for context, LOVEBITES is my favourite band of all time. Literally not a day goes by where I don't listen to them. But, I just want to offer the opinion that before a band can be considered "great", they need to have widespread commercial success. In my opinion, until they achieve that widespread success, especially outside of Japan, they don't deserve the label "great". I desperately do hope they do blow up internationally, because they are way more talented that many much more "popular" bands.
@777Phoebe You are explaining commercial success. There are many factors in the music industry that stifle commercial success, and where I respectfully disagree that $'s is the way to greatness. Music speaks for itself. Their music is simply as good, if not better, than most everything I've heard in 50+ years.
@@mmcpa We agree on LOVEBITES talent, but we have different criteria on what constitutes "greatness" for a band. But I'm not going to push my view - I'll just say I really hope that LOVEBITES one day are so well known internationally that no one could dispute their greatness.
@@1970Phoenix Let me ask you this then. Is Taylor Swift the greatest musician ever? By the standards you bring forth, based upon her ridiculous economic success on her tour she would be. But in fact, she's not even close regarding pure talent, and I think most people would agree with that.
I have the DVD for this performance on pre-order, and my DVD player died so I won't be able to watch it for a couple of week until I can get a new DVD player. My neighbors might be thankful my DVD player is dead and wish the new one a short life. LOL
Absolutely lovely to see an old fart just like me discover the new amazing metalbands :) Theres new heroes coming up. As the old we grow up with is either closing their game or have stopped since long ago. And omg the women today in metal and rock bands is just killin it !!! Never would I've thought that in my favorite bands in our current time theres so many women. Like BattleBeast, Unleash the Archers, Lovebites, Bandmaid, Nighwish. For an example.. All are either all woman or woman fronted bands. If you have not heard BattleBeast their female singer sounds like a metal version of Anne Wilson from Heart... Just like Britney Slayes in Unleash the Archers and Floor in Nightwish she has an amazing voice.... Sends you all the best from Stockholm Sweden/ Jonny
@@Popz2366 All the best to you to. Thankyou for a great YT chanel. Hope you will enjoy BattleBeast. 2 songs to maybe chose as first ones. May be:" Where angels fear to fly"... Or "Master of illusion"... All the best/ J
Lovebites - "WE ARE BACK" - I saw their premier of this song as well as Nameless Warrior and watched the premier of the entire concert of Knockin' at Heaven's Gate. Fami is kicking ass and fitting into the band perfectly. I haven't been excited about a band like this since Iron Maiden in 1982. This has become my favorite band, taking over the spot of Iron Maiden that held the spot for 40 years. Agree Japan is kicking the USA's ass in rock and metal. Knockin' at Heaven's Gate CD and DVD due out August 23, 2023. I just saw a video of Miyako buying a Gibson flying V guitar. (Her UA-cam channel)
Ha! I always love to see you rocking out, Popz. They are pretty darn good, ain't they? I'm a bit shocked they still haven't played here in the states yet. Hopefully next year.
Fantastic reaction Pops. Head banging your specs off! Classic. There is NOTHING controversial about admitting that Lovebites are in a different league to anything that has gone before. The shots looking up at Asami, leaning over, was my view of this concert. I’ve made it a personal priority to travel anywhere I can afford to see this band as often as I can. I’m 63. Why not?
WOW!! so glad you got to see them Live my friend... we are hearing through the Grapevine that they are planning US Dates , no confirmation yet.. but, I am watching closely..
there is a cryptic message in the pipeline that a wide tour may be on the horizon very soon my friend.. I will keep an eye on things and update on the Popzcast as we find out..
People wonder why us old(er) farts love this band and many of the other rock/metal bands coming out of Japan (and everywhere it seems but the US) and it is like many said, it is the music we grew up with but usually just done better. And it doesn't hurt that I've always been particular to female clean vocals (with a few exceptions, hello Nemophila) and this band ends up in my top 5 all time. Now I just have to see them live. Peace.
A remarkable moment for Lovebites and also for Lovebites fans! Asami screams "WE ARE BACK" at the opening of the song - maybe because it has been a while, they haven't played in a concert since Miho left the band (2021). If you didn't yet, you should react do 'Shadowmaker', "Frozen serenade" and "Swan song (with Chopin intro)". This is the very first live video with the new bass player - Fami! She is just 20 y.o.!!! Thanks for reacting!
Great Reaction, I follow so many bands and I like music, Lovebites are my favourite band I love all their songs, the musical talent of every Girl is incredible but the greatest value is that when I listen to their music or see their live concerts they always give me positive emotions and make me feel good, that's why I love this fantastic Band. Thank You for this Reaction!🤘🏼🎸🥁🎤🐺❤️🔥🇯🇵🇮🇹
Thanks for returning to LOVEBITES. It's always fun to watch and listen to these super-skilled ladies. I'm back in the wing of seeing live bands; I saw The Warning last week in Cincinnati and am planning to see Liliac in Columbus in October. I'd love to eventually add LOVEBITES to that list!

Midori and Miho used to do that move, too. If you watch the audition video, Midori and Crash do it, too.
