Watching you troubleshoot and identify the needed repairs is very enjoyable. Your presentation and commentary make me feel as if we are standing in your garage with you. My vote is to keep doing it the way you've been doing it. The time seems to fly by. I was surprised this video was over 40 minutes. Thanks much for your time. 😀👍
Another LT1000! There must be more of them than any other tractor ever made! I was just watching other videos on this model this morning and it seems like they must have made more than one generation of them with different shifting systems.
I say take as long as you need to because I didn’t have any idea how long the video was because I was very interested in watching what you were doing so keep them coming thank you for your hard work
What I say to every UA-cam creator who asks - take a long as you need to cover the subject completely. One of the best small engine guys out there, James Condon, is doing videos as long as 90+ minutes and his channel has been growing by leaps and bounds. For me it’s all about quality of content and strong production values. I don’t have the attention span of a gnat, so go ahead and do your thing - I appreciate your work very much and continue to learn from you! 🙏🔧👍
Came across your channel a couple of weeks ago. I love your sense of humor. But what in the heck did they hit with that lawnmower to bend those brackets that bad?
Re: your question about the Poor Man’s Power Steering mod - I haven’t done one yet, but would definitely do it on my own machine. I have no doubt this is a worthwhile upgrade to the front end, along with replacing wheel bushings with bearings - all details one would expect to see in a really well-designed lawn tractor. I’ve collected links to several of these and pretty much have it figured out. It is basically a very easy, simple mod but there are some variables among different machines, plus one guy has figured out a modification to the washers so the thrust bearing is lubricated when pumping grease into the zerk.
Turned out awesome Hester! Wonder if the previous owner was doing some sweet ramp jumps with it... the way those brackets were mangled. As far as the hole in the gas tank, I think some plastics and even wire insulation are made from soy beans. Could be why rodents like to chew them up. Long videos are fine with me!
He must’ve done a dukes of hazard jump with this thing 😂 yea I’ve heard of the soy bean problem, it just seems so weird that they would go at a flat surface and not the corners.
The deck I was just working on also has that same folded area as yours. I thought initially it was a blade strike but now I wonder if this is something they did to strengthen that area of the deck?
Great question. So this is a manual which are filled with grease instead of oil. But on the hydrostatic units I generally inspect them for any signs of leaks and if they are dry and they drive/sound fine I don’t touch them 👍🏻
Love your videos, just got the same mower a few weeks ago for free, bought a new deck front tires with rims new rear tires all the basics to make it run, muffler was blow out that was fun to replace, starts right up idle is great but it will not stay running if I throttle it past the mower cut speed on the dash any idea's? Mine also the front bracket was bent to all hell
@@hester781 It will only go to half throttle, the indent on the throttle level where the mower deck setting is. will die if go any higher. does not have a pull choke. machine is a 1998 and engine is a 2012
@@hester781 Thanks, Finally had time to look at it and I can see it hitting the choke rod one less thing I have to think about. But noticed my tank is now leaking I remember in one of your videos a larger tank you pulled off, does it have a part number on it, rather buy a bigger tank over the smaller one
With my back problems it was easier to just remove it. Plus there was a lot of old oil/grease in the area so a torch could have made my day a lot more interesting 😂

Thank you so much! This is exactly the type of feedback I’m always looking for. Just trying to keep the audience happy 👍🏻

Yes these are definitely the cookie cutter riding mower around my parts. I don’t know why but I rarely see any MTD machines vs the AYP

Much appreciated! Thank you!👍🏻
Beautiful find! So little wear on that mower! 😃👍
Thanks Scout! 👍🏻

Nice work Hester, it turned out really well. 👍
I heard you mention gabbage again. 🤣
Now I say it just for you John 😂👍🏻
LoL.... awww, thanks bud.

Thank you! I’m tellin ya I have no idea how they did it but I wish I was there 😂
Hello 👋 brother another fantastic repair 😊 thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you sir! 👍🏻
I literally laughed out loud at the John Wayne comment. Excellent…..
I thought it was just subtle enough to avoid being de-monetized 😂👍🏻
That was the best spark plug test I have ever seen. You would never forget getting hit by that spark! Ethanol in gasoline strikes again.
I love that tester!

Agreed I think it’s a worthwhile endeavor 👍🏻
love your channel, I learn something every video.
Much appreciated! Thank you! 👍🏻
In joy listing to you very informative down to earth an in joy able.
Thank you! 👍🏻
I need the bumber for one of mine with out a deck
Riding fence line 😊😊😊
I honestly wish they offered one!
@@hester781I’ve never seen one in Texas before

I like the long ones
Excellent! Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it 👍🏻
Yw keep the video coming
Will do! 👍🏻
Thanks for the great video. What size and model mower hoist are you using ?
It's a harbor freight BADLAND ZXR 2500 lb. ATV/Utility Winch 👍🏻

Definitely possible, although I would think it would look more deliberate? Then again I’m just guessing
I did the “poor man’s power steering” on a JD D100. Didn’t notice a difference. YMMV.
Good to know! 👍🏻
Do you fill the transmission fluid or do what I do and assume it's full i like the long videos too take care

Does your mower have a separate choke knob? If not when you go up past full throttle on many motors that actually turns the choke on
@@hester781 It will only go to half throttle, the indent on the throttle level where the mower deck setting is. will die if go any higher. does not have a pull choke. machine is a 1998 and engine is a 2012
The indent is supposed to be max throttle, if you go any further past that it turns the choke on

Yea you have the right tank and it’s small one
I got 50/60 of these mowers 😊
Thank you, good to know👍🏻
Why not put shut off on it?
You certainly could, I usually do I just didn't have any at the time of filming.
Also i got good luck with those untill they burn oil to fast and start knocking at cranking speed
Agreed
Oh yeahhh I have 2 so far
15:42 me to got adhd. Or. I dont know what hd is but my doctor said i have 80 of them
😂😂👍🏻👍🏻
Just remove left wheel and heat it then use 16 lb back up and 4 lb hammer to tap it straight 😮😮😮
Easy fix
With my back problems it was easier to just remove it. Plus there was a lot of old oil/grease in the area so a torch could have made my day a lot more interesting 😂
The body is in the library,,,,,Col Mustard did it.....says the man with the chartreuse vise.....!! ! ! !
😂😂😂👍🏻
