Exodus stands at the top of my list of games I look forward to over the next few years and for good reason; what little has been revealed in terms of its world building has been tremendous. Powered by some of the best RPG makers of our time I have great hope for this game as the premise of the game seems extremely promising, so let us explore that premise together!

I want to be hyped for the game as sci-fi RPGs are my favorite genre, but the state of the industry is simply demoralizing. We'll see how this one turns out (whenever it comes out).

Same here, very interesting ideas (like Gene editing) and much more just to end up with a pink haired, tattooed pierced zoomer with cringe dialog as squad mate. It's drags you back kicking and screaming to current 2024. And thats to be expected. (because that's the actual first squad mate they revealed).

@@victorhugo3952 No doubt the game will surely feature the interesting concepts that shield&spell is mentioning, just that it is practically impossible to produce a higher budget product without external interference (nowadays slightly more than in the past). Unless you take absolutely no outside deals or money and go full indie there will always external forces pushing pushing their wishes into your product.

That's another thing that makes this cool is this is being made by a group of incredibly passionate developers who have a hell of a resume and was basically given carte blanche To make what they want and so far every interview every piece of information I hear out of this is oozing with excitement and passion that we don't see a whole lot of out of the AAA field anymore due to so much corporate bs. I'm not going to be so hyped that it makes me stupid But there's a lot here to be excited about.

Peter F Hamilton is one of my all time favourite Sci-Fi author. That alone would make me interested, and when teamed up with the ME 1&2 people, that makes this something I need to have a look at once it releases. :)
Thanks for the walk through of what's known so far.

the humans checking the planet wheren't lied too. They were looking for green planets which mean planets habitable by life. They made all the checks to see if its safe to remove there helmets and it was at the time. But after some time the planet became toxic for unknown reason which killed them. This story used to convey how diffcult it is to find a habitable world since even if it seems habitable something unseen to cause a fatal problem.

That is partially true but in the exodus website the full story of chapter 5 green world it does confirm that the colonel lied to the people on the planet or at least is taking advantage of the planet being toxic so he can be a dictator among the residents of the ship.

Given the quality of Mass Effect Andromeda - I do hope we'll get a good substitute to it with Exodus.

    • @peterd9698
      @peterd9698 Місяць тому +1

Although the earlier ME had better stories, I did like several elements of andromeda more. I liked the way they had less worlds with more significant maps to explore, and I liked the way your work eventually changes the world a bit incl. your colony, plus the npcs and quests attached to it.
I’m wondering if Exodus takes those concepts and runs with them. You could have a whole progression of a city with many beginnings and outcomes by just having 2 or 3 radically different versions of each section of the ultimate city, plus surface differences like texturing, billboards and clutter to portray the health of the society

@@peterd9698 I'm not claiming ME:A was horrifically bad from start to end, almost every game has good moments - even bad games.
It's more that when I think about the weak story, the forgettable characters, the generic and forgettable villains, the questionable premise of the implanted AI, the depiction of various beloved old Mass Effect Alien races (most prominently how the Krogan felt... neutered) - all of it combines into a game that for me only wears the ME IP as a mask and doesn't have the old magic.

I’ve read the excerpts of the book by Peter F. Hamilton and the Celestials are VERY different from most alien concepts. We have consciousness transfer, planetary engineering, multiple Dominions and sub-Houses, each with their own chosen specializations. And that was just 2 chapters. I’m getting really excited about this setting and the game. The world building is indeed robust.

    Wow... where do I start?
First. I love the look of this game, it immediately makes me want to explore. I'm hoping there is no mechanics for ship battles or learning to fly, but setting a course and pressing a button would be enough for me. The worlds look engaging and different. Not uniform or cookie cutter in any way. I LOVE THAT.
Second. I'm not a science person though I love sci-fi. What I find interesting about what you have said is how weird it would be to see the future of our scientific advancement without having to experience the battle and let downs of attaining that advancement.
Thirdly,. Morality. Just listening to you explain the premise of the story, the names of the distinct alien influences and the words that were chosen for the 'races', namely demons and celestials. Just those two words incite within me a conditioned response that I cannot deny. Am I the only one experiencing this? And to hear that the celestials are afraid of the demons makes me cringe, and not slightly. It worries me frankly because it is a repeat of what I described in my latest comment on your channel where evil (Demons) appear.... and I realize this is only a surface level observation because we don't have the full storyline, but the demons appear to be stronger.
I mean the language and the words chosen are all very religious in nature. Was that intentional? It is an interesting topic to explore, but Exodus, Demons, Celestials (Angels). And the Celestials are afraid of the Demons??? I'm sorry, my Christian mind is having a serious problem with this and we Christians consider such things to be... to put it bluntly... Satanic. I'm trying to be diplomatic in my explanation, but it is difficult lol.
Personally I love moral dilemma in storylines, I think it is ultimately what makes a character who they are. It is also a good representation of life in that we all have to make choices based on our beliefs and personality. As a player who tends to lean toward the paragon story arc... blending with a demon makes me feel... ahem... uncomfortable. I know it sounds ridiculous because it is a game, but it is a form of escapism and though I loved horror movies and Stephen King novels growing up. My preferences are a lot lighter since growing up and having some real life moral dilemma's in my repertoire.
All of that said... I'm going to wait and see. My first impression of the trailers and the story was one of excitement and I want to be excited, but I'm not sure. We'll see.

Looking forward to this game and the fact that all alien life essentially stems from Earth is probably my favorite part of the lore. It's something I've actually thought about in games like Mass Effect. It's not inconceivable that most of the advanced life in the Mass Effect universe could stem from a single origin, even if it's not Earth, considering that they look so similar. Mostly bipeds with two arms, eyes in roughly the same place, mouths in roughly the same place, they mostly need the same kind of atmosphere to survive. Exodus actually takes that concept and makes it part of their lore. Brilliant.

If I must deal with time dilatation, that is hard to sell to me. Just think about investments Proxima Centauri if you need to wait 8 years for a possible return that is OK, but a solar system 40 light years away, does anybody wants to wait 80 years to see whether the investment brings profit?
Looks to me like a game that I will purchase on sale with -80% rebate before bothering.

There are some ideas there. But in Sci-fi, that is not difficult. Making a good story from it is. I see far too many pitfalls in the possible storyline for this to work. But I hope to be proved wrong. A good Sci-fi RPG would be wonderful, and otherwise I shall have to wait and see if Larian can actually pull off such a thing.
